It's not a bad crop. I know Jean Grae hasn't sold enough of either one of her EPs but it still would've been nice to see her on the list. Or maybe Ms. Dynamite.
I'm also bummed that "The Way You Move" isn't getting the same recognition that "Hey Ya" is. It's a hit single and a much stronger music track that Nelly, P. Diddy and Murphy Lee's "Shake Ya Tail Feather" (and most of the other tracks in the group/collabo/whatevertheyarecallingit categories this year).
I'm happy, though, that they are giving recognition to E.Badu's Worldwide Underground, Roy Hargrove's RH Factor album, and Heather Headly in the R&B categories though.
But surely there were better male R&B tracks out there than Tyrese, Musiq and Brian McKnight's joints right? Anthony Hamilton, Dwele, hell, they could've put Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River" in there for all the Urban Radio airplay it got.
I do think that Talib Kweli's "Get By" not getting a shot is an oversight.
As is only one nod for Floetry's "Say Yes." That's the R&B track I remember the most from the last year.

After the fact, Black Eyed Peas got fucked. I guess that actually gives them more street cred since naras is bullshit. I was shocked to see them nominate BEP for Best Engineered Album. Most of those old guys don't give props to the superior production in hip hop music. They couldn't get it if they tried.
