Colin's Comic Relief

With all due respect to his loss, Berg's father is the type of guy who gives the anti-war left a bad name. Absolving the terrorists of responsibility and pinning your own son's death on the administration may have a certain amount of symbolic truth to it, but it's not a reasonable response and it won't play in the flyover. He's doing noone any favors, politically.

But big up to our man on the inside for standing up to his manipulative staff and choosing to face the music (even if it is with an evasive half-truth of an answer). Rummy would've just cried "technical difficulties." Hope that aide got fired.

This whole thing is sick. I cant even begin to understand what it must have felt like to be one of those prisoners. Its embarrassing to know that they are over there representing us, and acting just like the people they went there to stop. Ridiculous...

Yet another indication of how rampant censorship has become in the American media. Think Michael Moore, think 60 minutes with-holding the torture photos for some two weeks, think of how worse it's probably going to get...

In regards to the prison pics, it was an Army reservist who blew the whistle, slipping them under his commanders door. Of course the left won't mention it, what do you expect of people who view Micheal Berg's beheading as less newsworthy then the Abu scandal?
And as for his dad's words, well, he's hurting real bad right now.

Howdy. I realize I'm a stranger around these parts, but I wanted to throw this into the mix:

I think that Emily Miller is less Powell's aide and more a handler sent along by the White House to try and keep Colin on message. There's a long history of antagonism between State (Colin's dept) and the SecDef and the civilian advisors at the Pentagon. (Wolfowitz, Perl, et al.) Cheney is in bed with the NeoCon types in the SecDef's office and the Pentagon, so they want to make sure that someone from their camp is nearby while Colin talks to the media, ESPECIALLY while he is in Jordan with them A-rabs.

I think that they are shit scared of him, because they know that he doesn't like the idea of Rummy throwing enlisted personnel to the wolves on the Abu Ghraib scandal, esp if they command and control of the abuses went all the way up. They're worried Powell is going to punk them out to the world media.

Did I miss something here? The last I saw there was a war going on. I'm not making light of both situations in Iraq(photos/Berg), however, can you or do you expect anything less? Personally, I'm against this conflict due to the fact it's a corporate war but that's another can of worms.
This is war, kids, and war is ugly and brutal. Also, if this continues it's gonna uglier and get Vietnamesque in "stickiness".
Pulling out the troops in one fell swoop won't resolve anything either it'll be mass chaos and destruction if the U.S. did that. Blame the Pentagon for playing prevent defense and not blitzing when they had chance. This is going to be a long haul.
