Sam, Just Let It Go
I can dig where you're coming from. But after airing the same gripe about Busta and others already, at this point you're just positioning yourself as the Madd Actor/perpetual hater.
PROUD JACKSON TURNS DOWN 50 CENT FILM ROLE
SAMUEL L JACKSON has turned down the chance to work with one of his movie icons - because it's in a film starring 50 CENT.
The actor has always wanted to work with Irish movie-maker JIM SHERIDAN and was thrilled when he heard he was being targeted for a new film by the IN AMERICA director - and then he realised the role was opposite rapper 50 Cent in his movie debut...
..."A month or so ago, someone called me about the 50 Cent movie and I'm like, 'What are you calling me for?' I don't even need to read that because that's not something I want to do. I like listening to 50 Cent and I can groove to his music but I don't want to groove to him on screen, just yet. Maybe if he does five movies and he shows some talent.
"I mean how does he get to work with Jim Sheridan and I don't. What is it about 50 Cent that makes Jim Sheridan say, 'I'd really like to make a movie with him.'"

Apart from 50 Cent being a moron who can't rap, he probably has more fans than Jackson, meaning more morons checking out that movie. Sheridan is pimp.

I have to go with jackosn on this one sick to death of seeing rappers in movies and damn they are so bad at what they do, they just can't act. I am suprised that a quality director such as Sheridan would actually cast any rapper or did it come from the studio bean counters. What next Scorsese and Snoop?

some rappers are pretty good actors like dmx. hell at this point his acting is far better than his last few albums.

Glad: One of the most intense performances I've ever seen was Tupac in the movie "Juice". He should've won Best Actor that year. I take it you havn't seen it? Or are you just a small-minded clown?

On this, I'm inclined to disagree with Jay. I'd actually expect 50's movie to be pretty decent, somewhere along the lines of 8 Mile. Whatever you say about the man, you can't deny that he has a work ethic. And with Eminem as a guide and the exact same template for 8 Mile, its not likely to fail. Its semi-autobiographical, has a demanding director and will be backed by enough muscle to ensure that its good even if 50 sleepwalks through it. I doubt Jackson will be reading this site but if he wants the reason that Sheridan agreed, its probably because he received the promise that he wouldn't be working with anyone not dedicated to pulling out the very best performance possible. No slacking off here, 50 will probably have to put in the work.
On the other hand, a man must have his principles. And if Jackson won't endorse rappers muscling in territory he and others have worked so hard to get into, its not hating, its standing for what you believe in.
The next question now is, would Jackson work with Diddy. The man is no thespian but he's put in some and is what, 3 movies and a play deep?
And yeah, Pac definitely had the gift.

You're disagreeing with Sam, not me. :)
I'm betting 50 will do well with this.

Robbie: I'm a total film fanatic, almost to the point of nerdiness. I could list my 'credentials', but that would be, um, nerdy. Do yourself a favor and rent 'Juice'.

8 mile sucked. Juice was pretty darn good, but how are you going to compare 50 cent, or any other rapper, to Tupac. Even when it comes to acting, that is just not fair. Tupac had a natural gift for art. 50 has a natural gift for being macadocious. I'm sick and tired of even hearing their names together, no matter what the context. But honestly who cares what little thread is lodged in Sam Jackson's rectal cavities? That man has more useless roles to be ashamed of then Dick Cheney has lesbian daughters.

Jesse,
I saw "Juice" when it came out. It's an entertaining movie, but it's heavy-handed message is reminds me of a Hallmark movie. The soundtrack was good, and it provided the blueprint for Tupac's public persona as he took the term "method acting" to new extremes by acting-out many of Bishop's flaws.

I feel as though Sam has been short-changed by the industry and I feel as though his skills are top shelf. If he wants to take this position I say "More power to ya".
We need more Bill Cosby and Samuel Jackson types saying what is on their mind.
