Last I checked, it was Will Smith selling albums, winning Grammys, starring on TV shows, and now doing movies--all before one Marshall Mathers was even on the scene.

And just how do we know what 'that something' Will has for Em even is? Nobody's confirmed it's an out and out diss track...in fact Will said in the MTV.com article "...that the new album is best described as old-school retro hip-hop, and that the music is more serious than in the past, but is still just as fun". That'd be a great accomplishment for Encore, which white suburbia sheepishly bought while it was panned by music critics as Eminem's worst work to date.

Yes, em can rap. But he obviously knows nothing about giving props to those who came before him. Will, first rap grammy winner. Will, first rap artist to go platinum. Will, most succesful crossover from making music to movies. Something em is trying to pursue. Em dissing will is like Lebron dissing Jordan.

I like will smith and all, fresh prince is great show, dude does do numbers at the box office, but for real... for real, come on... will hasn't put out anything relevent since Summertime which was damn near 15 years ago, ie... Miami, wild, wild, west, Men in black, and the last shit he put out before this his flow sounded exactly like Em. Most of the criticism of em isn't inacurate although it seems some of these comments have more of a problem with him being white than anything. Realistically Em holds his own with some of the greatest of all time, Will can't. Bottom line. I haven't heard Encore but I'd be willing to bet there's alot more copies of it in the hood than of anything Will has put out recently, or ever for that matter. Let's not forget where will really came from, there's a reason he has the crossover appeal he does and it's not to different form the reasons em is succesful.

Think about it for a minute tho- what can Em say about Will Smith? Honestly? He can call him soft. Corny. Goofy. And way? Because he makes funny songs (parents just don't understand) and sings songs to his kids. Eminem makes goofy songs (Real Slim Shadey, etc.) and has SUNG two songs, and made two songs for his kids. Plus EM sings on a ton of hooks. Will is a commercial success in the music bizz, even though many will try to say that only white kids buy his stuff. So what? Only white kids buy Eminems music too (hip-hop heads bootlegg it from the internet). Will is a better actor and more successful. Will dropping this track after Em drops Toy Soldiers has little to do with anything, Em notes in Toy Soldiers he is fed up with his beefs with Benzino and Ja Rule, never mentioning other prominent feuds he's been involved in, i.e., the ongoing Canibus beef. Also, Will's suddenly deciding to be hard does seem a little out of character, his being called soft never seemed to bother him in the past (i.e. Freakin' It, "I hear in rap pages, they refer to me as soft, yeah more like Microsoft"..."Mr. Clean but the fact remains I got girls that don't speak English screaming my name") but now he decides to strike back...well that's his decision and I think he can pull it off far more convincingly than Hammer and the others he was compared to...actually I think what I've heard of Lost and Found reminds me more of LL Cool J on The DEFinition than Hammer, Em, or anyone else. Will is a good rapper, though I admit his skills are probably not on par with Em's, certainly not in battle rap, but I doubt he wants a high-profile beef anyway, it's probably just to ease his own mind more than anything

Just got will's new album, amazing. I have been listening to hip hop since the early 80's and love eminem but that does not stop me liking wills comments towards eminem. I like a lot of the artists eminem disses but I still have all his cds.

I was watching the "Today" show the other day and I just happen to catch the last part of Will's interview with Matt Lauer about his new album. He later performed the first single "Switch" and I liked it. Then I went online and saw some posted messages about Will dissin eminem and how he wants to get rid of his clean image. I hope Will don't resort to that foolishness. The last thing I want to see him do is try to transform himself into this rapper-thug tough guy to try to appeal to some hardcore standard created by the rap industry. Will didn't get to where he is by being someone else, he got there by being himself and his true fans will always support that. Will is one of the few brothas in the rap industry that represents the rest of us. Not all black males are thugs,or gangstas. It seems that all these other guys can rap about is money, sex, drugs and how tough they are. To me it's just plain played out. I just gotta add a couple more things to the points I was making there, beef is something that's dragging fans away fromenjoying rap, it used to fun to see rappers diss each other but these days it's turned a lot of fans off, rap's no longer as popular of a music genre as it used to be 'cause artists spend more time dissin' each other than they do puttin' out great music, people spend more time talking about tabloids than they do how great albums are and that's the problem,like I said I think Eminem's a talented artist just like Will but the thing that makes Will a better artist than Eminem is that he uses his talent to make great songs to entertain the fans during the last 20 years whileEminem uses his talent to diss people on the most part in the last 5 or so years, before that Eminem was very entertaining when he was coming in the game but all his bickering and beefing has been his downfall and the quality of his music has dragged down because of it, I think Eminem needs to unify with more artists instead of beef if he wants to have a long and successful career that Will Smith has had...

btw, Will doesn't hate gangsta rappers either, that's a big misconception a lot of people say, he wouldn't have had Snoop Dogg on his last album if he had no respect for gangsta rap, his beef is more with those trying to immitate real gangstas like Snoop and Ice Cube when they never lived that life,I think if Eminem reached out to working with great artists like Will instead of putting them down he could become a better artist again...

Ok...yal wanna know what i think or Em vs Will? Compare that to Mike Tyson when he beat the living hell out of Smith and you'll have a pretty good idea of what will probably happen. I never hated will, but ive always liked em (moreso his older stuff, but w/e), and come on, Elton John is more 'gangsta' than Will Smith truely is, and besides its not about who can act tougher on fucn tv neway, in a fight em would tear will limb from limb, thats the fucn truth. get ovr it
