January 12, 2006New Lauryn Hill Track Leaked: "Rebel" Studio versionWell it may not be new, exactly, but it's a version we haven't heard before. And it has rapping on it: What do you y'all think? I found myself trying to convince myself I liked it, which usually means I don't really like it. Posted by jsmooth995 at January 12, 2006 1:00 PMComments
Jay.. you have accurately described it... I feel it may grow on me but only if I'm in a mood to hear it, I want my music to move me to a mood.. Verdict = Good but not quite to my taste. C+ Posted by: Belve at January 12, 2006 9:45 PM I like this version. So what's the story with this reunion?? Are there egos allowing them to cooperate? Posted by: Pez at January 13, 2006 1:05 PM subpar material Posted by: konijn at January 13, 2006 2:30 PM im sick and tired of you critics downing lauryn hill. each and every last one of you are fake fans. lauryn hill is trully a musical genious. She has a craft other women in the industry lacks. Her message is positive and uplifting. The only reason why she has been getting a bad rep is because she is tired of people pleasing everybody. she has chosen to follow her heart. she has recorded some of the greatest material in the history of hip-hop. people have no right to dictate to her how she should be. She was not afraid of recorging a live album to freely express herself. no other artist beside probably Erica Badu, Mary j Blige, or India Arie would have done the same. Shame on all the people who who said she shouldn't have had all of those children. She is a human being and has a rigtht to have children. You people are not God. Real L-boogie fans no what im talking about. Posted by: Troy at January 13, 2006 9:59 PM All they said was they were ambivalent about the song. How does that equal hate??? Posted by: nOva at January 13, 2006 10:51 PM i'm laughing my ass off at "Erica Badu, Mary j Blige, or India Arie." Posted by: Kwis at January 14, 2006 12:43 AM L'Boogie, Lauryn Hill and Ms. Hill are all geniuses. I like this version. it remindes me of Erykah Badu for some reason. it sounds like something lauryn hill would have done after The Score but before Miseducation. Posted by: junior at January 14, 2006 1:57 AM I love Lauryn. she is the realist female rapper/singer. I anticipate her album to be a work of mental art. Her music has deep meanings and to me that equates quality and growth. So go Lauryn!!! Do your thing. Brush these haters off. Posted by: ** Ms. Beautiful ** at January 14, 2006 12:09 PM this is actually a combination of the song rebel from her unplugged album and the rapping portion is from a rap she did in the middle of a song she performed with ziggy marely at a bob marley benefit concert in jamaica, she broke out with that rap in the middle of doing redemption song with ziggy Posted by: lboogiefan at January 14, 2006 6:25 PM I'm a big fan and I thought her work on the first Fugees single, Take it Easy, was great, but straight up, this is very subpar. I wish her the best though, I'd love to see her come back strong, but she seems half a mess these days (like at that impromptu NY concert appearance--a beautiful moment, yes, though borderline garbage where the music was concerned). Posted by: JaneKnowles at January 19, 2006 6:11 PM Feel free to discuss Fugees with others @www.fugees-online.de They have two new songs out- Foxy, and Wanna Be. My screen name is Luvlauryn Posted by: Dre at April 13, 2006 1:50 PM I dont know why Lauryn Hill is in the spotlight of criticizm, many who cannot appreciate or understand the quality of her music the its intellectual depth and reality, are not perhaps natural listeners of intellectual brain food and self truth. Posted by: hazelpoetry at May 11, 2006 7:44 AM You guys are the 11703 best, thanks so much for the help. Posted by: Caty Tota at June 17, 2006 5:03 AM You can't be 42457 serious?!? Posted by: Mary Box at June 17, 2006 5:35 AM she is hot as ever. see when people tell the truth, the industry don't want to hear that. they rathere you be all commercial like the rest. she prove that she is who she is.
