Wow. What memories. Mini-Busta cracks me up. Posted by: John at March 11, 2007 4:13 AM I wonder how old Lil Biggie and Lil Puff Puff are now. . . Posted by: teemoney at March 12, 2007 11:54 PM Smooth, off topic. The mighty Kimbo slice just caught another body. It's called Kimbo vs the Bouncer -Black People Posted by: Black People at March 13, 2007 5:05 AM Smooth, is it cool if we talk about hip-hop music on some of these posts while you're on hiatus? I'm only checkin outta respect and also cuz it's some homies here I like buildin' with. But yo something is botherin' the shit out me. I just watched part of that throw some d's video without sound. so i haven't heard it yet. I'll listen when I get home. but yo, i'm so conflicted right now. about all of this shit. and I just gotta vent. I know life is complex. 'specially when you live a full one and cycle through all ranges of emotion. but yo, here in L.A., (i only been here 'bout a year) you 'ont really see no black folks unless go south of the 10 freeway. and if you work in entertainment, everything is well north of the 10. now out here I find myself really missing black folk. the only thing close is when i kick it with mexican bruvas at the barber shop. so boom you know how it is: if you the only black muvafucka for at least a coupla miles white people get courageous since the odds are tipped in their favor. alright cool. to counter this, i run my phone bill up callin people back east when I get home just to recharge my soul and shit. or i listen to my records (last night I had a roger and zapp marathon. higly recommended) or I pop on youtube and watch anything that might have my people on it. so then I'm hearing all this shit about the throw some D's and wanting to see my folks i click on the link. absolutely depressing (well not totally cuz i saw my folks but still) that's where I get all conflicted cuz I love me some black folks but I hate this fuckin entertainment product being passed off as music
and if I'm at a Peets coffe shop and any of these urban pop dudes are there and somebody white try to play them, then I got my people's back (even though I don't particularly care for their entertainment product) but right now? right now? i am pissed at this lil dude they call rich boy and the people that co-sign this sorta thing. and it's finally starting to set in. and I'm gettin a little shook for the future of black folks. and if this is what we are calling our music... I ain't tryin' make any rash comments. I'm just concerned about the future. -Black People (maybe I shouldn't even talk cuz I ain't heard the lyrics yet. but from what I understand it's about, what else? throwin ditnubs on cars) Posted by: Black People at March 14, 2007 1:24 PM I 'ont know. Cuz on one hand I love my people. -Black People Posted by: Black People at March 14, 2007 4:22 PM sup pimpin?! Posted by: trusouth at March 15, 2007 12:57 AM what up tru sitnouth, you jokin like a mug about the timbaland shit right? justin timberlake's not rhymin AND dissin that other dude is he? -Black People (by the way, i just listened to the lyrics to throw some d's. no comment) Posted by: Black People at March 15, 2007 1:10 AM gettin back on the subject though the mainstream is still feelin the fall out from the versace wars. Posted by: trusouth at March 15, 2007 1:11 AM Good lookin, Trusouth. Well Nas did say he's looking to drop again this summer. I hope he beefs up his lyrics. More rhymes per line. No more dumbing it down. But yo, somethin else just started fuckin with me in non hip-hop related news. But in "complex/complicated" news. And I'm wonderin what the regulars here think. You know the anti-war rallies are poppin off now and everthing. And everyone wants to bring the troops home and end it. I was thinking the same thing. Cuz it seems like Iraq only got worse since the occupation. But something else just entered the equation: Those who rally to end the war are saying it's dangerous for the troops and that the war is worthless and those soldiers are dying for nothing. But in the same breath these folks are like "the U.S. should do something about Darfur". I'm wondering what's the difference between fighting muslims in Iraq and fighting muslims in Darfur? I wonder if the U.S. woulda went to Darfur a coupla years ago and declared war, would everyone be screaming now to bring the troops home? I dunno. I try not to play any of the politial games. Conservative, liberal, right, left wing, dem, republicans, none of that shit. Cuz once you decide to play you've already lost. So I can't get into how they lied about the war. Or WMDs or Saddam and genocide. I don't know when whoever is lying. But as far as these protests and the Iraq and Darfur thing, I'm starting to wonder are people just trying to find a liberal shield to look cool behind or what? I dunno. Something tells me that if the US soldiers were in Darfur these same folks would be like "bring the troops home. Let those africans sort out their own problems." Maybe. Maybe not. I can't call it. I'm not trying to say the U.S. should be the world police. But this is complex to me and a little inconsistent. Cuz if you really want them to go to Darfur (or prevent something like it in the future) maybe it's necessary - geopolitcally - that they establish a presence smack dab in the middle of that region. The way they created isreal. See, now I sound pro-military. That's why this shit is complicated. Sometimes I wish we could have our own news or just somebody that we can trust delivering the facts. Cuz I 'ont know when these muvafuckas is lying. -Black People Posted by: Black People at March 18, 2007 5:59 PM you want to know why? Posted by: trusouth at March 19, 2007 8:56 PM this has been trusouth reportin whats tru Posted by: trusouth at March 19, 2007 8:59 PM hey blackpeople have you heard classic by kanye west? Posted by: trusouth at March 28, 2007 7:25 PM I haven't heard it. I've been scared to listen to it. I'll listen to it tonight. Then if it's dope, I'll try and go cop the wax this weekend when I go get my Red Gone Wild album. Redman said aside from the Timbaland lead, the album got all samples. I'm praying for some scratching. -Black People Posted by: Black People at March 29, 2007 1:32 PM Tru, -Black People Posted by: Black People at March 30, 2007 5:39 PM blackpeople, Posted by: trusouth at March 30, 2007 5:46 PM Yo!
