August 15, 2007Don Imus Coming Back, to WABC?The rumors have him taking over for Curtis Sliwa and Ron Kuby? WABC has traditionally been a haven for doddering misanthropes (word to Bob Grant) so I suppose Imus would fit in.
...Because so much of the radio spectrum has been carved up by conglomerates, the list of broadcasters that could offer Mr. Imus the possibility of a flagship in New York, as well as a syndicated network of affiliates, is relatively short. There is Citadel Broadcasting, which owns WABC-AM in New York, but to install Mr. Imus in the morning, it would have to bump “Curtis and Kuby,” a relatively popular talk show. Steve Borneman, president and general manager of WABC, said yesterday that he was happy with “Curtis and Kuby” and that neither he nor anyone else at his company had spoken with Mr. Imus or his representatives. Interesting that WFAN is replacing Imus with "Jersey Guy" Craig Carton, of all people.. Posted by jsmooth995 at August 15, 2007 4:43 PMComments

Posted by: JohnnyUnitus at August 16, 2007 3:14 PM Does anyone else love the fact that Sharpton said it would be cool if Imus came back to radio since he doesnt think the man shouldnt have a job or whatever yet he wants to Ban 50 Cent...like completely....boycott the man so he can't make money off of music. Imus can go back to doing what he does (anyone actually ever listen to Imus...i just knew about him from the Howard Stern movie honestly) 50 Cent? Ban Him. oh and How can Sharpton have Imus on his radio show but has not had any relevant hip hop artist on his show to discuss the nature of hip hop and demeaning women and all that hoopity hoopla Posted by: Abs.Erd at August 17, 2007 12:53 PM the man has beef with his own people. Posted by: trusouth at August 18, 2007 2:11 PM Just tell Al and Cos and all the rest to pick on someone(from)their own age. Posted by: Anthony Sloan at August 19, 2007 11:48 PM I think Imus ahs been on suspension long enouth, and should come back on the radio. If you don't like his humor then for god sake don't listen. I think he is and was truly sorry for what he said, and if you stop and think of all the good things her has done with his money they certainly out way the bad. Get a life people, are you out there in Tv and Radio land so pure, I doubt it! Posted by: Barbara at September 4, 2007 7:49 AM I, think imus should comeback to the radio Posted by: dominick ducos at September 20, 2007 6:52 PM There is no one better than Don Imus! He's the ultimate interviewer - asks a question and then sits back and lets the people talk. You'll learn more from his shows than anywhere else on TV. And I miss the laughter. That was the bright spot on television and I've been angry every since he was let go by that cowardly bunch of losers who caved in to a handful of mouthy people. Where the heck did freedom of speech go in this country? Lost in the madness of political correctness. How stupid is that? Very! Come on Imus - bring intelligence and humor back to us. Posted by: Pat at October 11, 2007 9:44 AM Ditto everything Pat-(October 11)posted about the honesty and intelligence of Don Imus. His show told listeners what's really going on in our society with humor-and made more sense than anything else on all the networks. I loved it! Bring him back! I haven't watched MSNBC in the morning before I leave for work or to WFAN since Imus left! Posted by: Annie at October 12, 2007 1:08 AM I wish they would bring Don Imus back on TV soon!! Posted by: K. WAGNER at October 14, 2007 4:26 PM Well its about F'n time the IMAN returns. And for all you HATERS/Golfers out there... Smoke a Lucky and Shut the F up! HA HA ... Posted by: tom mc laughlin at October 22, 2007 10:08 AM We, the people, need IMUS in the morning. his show was usually lively, funny and topical, a welcome change from the network offerings and the dirty and irrelevent sophmoric mind of Howard Stern; and the many other regional and local zoos. He subtly exposes to the audience the frauds lurking among the population. Posted by: hazmat knows all! at November 1, 2007 10:32 PM It was December 1, 1971 that Imus first graced the airwaves of WNNNNNNNNBC in New York. I was an avid listener to the pop music played on 66 AM and was immediately captivated by John Donald Imus' irreverence and interaction with straight man Charles McCord. I had just graduated from college and was headed to the Army thanks to a draft number of 6 and a commission from Army ROTC. Now 36 years later,(almost to the day) my own son just received his Army ROTC commission and we can't wait to listen to the I-Man once again. GO, GO, GO, JD, Charles McCord, and Bernie!! Can I get 900 hamburgers to go??? Will Warner do the sports? I hope so.... Posted by: Phil at November 6, 2007 11:54 PM |
