August 7, 2007KRS One on Creative Visualization![]() A clip from KRS One's show this weekend at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn. He tells the crowd how 25 years ago he was homeless and sleeping right in this very bandshell, and he told himself back then, "one day, I'm gonna rock this park." I also went to Lauryn's show in BK last night. But the less we say about that, the better. Also BTW, we are gonna get things moving again in here soon! you were at that show? i tried to get in last night, but by the time i got there the cops had blocked off most of the neighbourhood... it was kind of chaotic. p.s. i'm heeeere! Posted by: Susana at August 7, 2007 5:08 PM I was visiting NY, from Cali, this past weekend and was able to catch this show, among other free shows (Joe Bataan and Lauryn Hill). Got to the spot right when he went on (after getting lost in the Prospect Park wilderness. Luckily some random white girl knew where to go and I was able to see KRS rock it. As much as I cringe at his self-anointed Hip-Hop Pope status, when he puts on one of the livest shows around. Posted by: Ninoy Brown at August 7, 2007 6:19 PM I wish I was able to see that KRS show. I lost. Great video Jay. What is up with Lauryn Hill these days? It is a damn shame too. Posted by: Big Homie at August 8, 2007 1:48 PM Last nite I went to the Paid Dues shows at Red Rocks it was dope everyone should go when it comes your way... Peace Whygee. Posted by: trusouth at August 11, 2007 5:35 PM failed to mention that he was talkin shit bout the south. Posted by: trusouth at August 11, 2007 5:37 PM Hey Tru, But I am aware of it. I avoid them because they appear to shine more in controversial comments and they have not been speaking with thier music. I was always taught that the best revenge is living well. So if you wanna make a muvafucka mad that hates you, just don't acknowledge the said hatred and make yourself more successful in the meantime. Although, I do think the North vs South battle is long overdue, I don't see guys battling properly nowadays. Also the climate in the communities and the way we look to the world these days is a little on the negative side. So I'm not really for the dissension. But I think if everyone really wanted to diss the shit outta the south they could write the songsthat guys from other coasts can't write. They would make the beats that follow the formula. And put scratching on them. Males must fight. That's how we communicate. We can't know each other until we see each other in battle. So I think the North vs. South thing must happen. And it will probably happen soon. After which the regions will respect each other more. But I do see it being avoided. Over the last few years, I've noticed these urban forms of expression popping up. So like rock, I think we'll all be cool if new subgenres of Hip Hop are created. Then no one will be corny. That seatle shit can be hyphy not Hip Hop. Cuz that's where the beef is brewing. When people hear whatever down south song that's out right now and they compare it to RUN-DMC's Here We Go or BDP's my philosophy they'll always be like "that down south shit ain't Hip Hop". -Black People Posted by: Black People at August 12, 2007 3:06 AM true but then theres dudes you cant put in that mold Posted by: trusouth at August 13, 2007 2:26 PM Posted by: Sandra-th at August 25, 2007 10:16 PM Posted by: Sandra-th at August 25, 2007 10:17 PM Posted by: Sandra-th at August 25, 2007 10:17 PM |
