Ludacris Obama Rap "Politics", Lyrics & Video

ludacris "politics: obama's here" rap

The new Ludacris song about Obama, although Obama's campaign may be less than ecstatic about the particulars.. y'all need to send Luda the talking points memos and make sure he stays on message.

Huffington Post got some of the lyrics wrong so I will offer a corrected version below:

Ludacris "Obama's Here" Lyrics

I'm back on it like I just signed my record deal
Yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
Never should have hated, You never should've doubted him
With a slot in the president's iPod Obama shouted 'em

Said I handle my biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer
Better yet put me in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant

Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
If you said it then you meant it how you want it head or gut?
And all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win majority vote in every state on my man

You can't stop what's bout to happen, we bout to make history
The first black president is destined and it's meant to be
The threats ain't fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
So get off your ass, black people, it's time to get out and vote!

Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and just throw 'em like candy wrap
'cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents

Get out and vote or the end'll be near
The world is ready for change because Obama is here
'cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here, yeah
cuz Obama is here

Obama has said publicly that rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn't want his daughters or any children exposed to them. But Obama met privately with Ludacris, talking with him in Chicago about young people in 2006 before he announced his run for president. At that time Obama included Ludacris when he talked about hip-hop moguls and rappers he thought were "great talents and great businessmen."

I love it. All the niggers are horny over a black man in office, but little do they realize Obama has little in common with these niggers. He doesn't talk an ignorant nigger, won't be defending them for the stupid shit they do, and certainly won't be offending any white people. I hope Obama wins just so he can prove to these niggers that yes, even with a black president, you still fail at life.

Interesting how angry white people get when their iron grip on power is threatened by a charismatic and intelligent man that defies categorization. Make sure you notice the thousands of white faces who show up to his rallies, volunteer for him, and will vote him into office. The uneducated hateful trash who throw around racist words are in the minority. You are a dying breed who clings on to this pathetic world view because of your own ignorance and self-loathing. You hate others because you hate who you are. Englightened, loving and caring people you are not. You are what brings the rest of humanity down to the level of beasts.

this is awful. this country is going to hell. I can't see how anyone in their right mind would vote for a muslim bastered with a whore wife that hates america?? omg lets all show how stupid we are

Posted by: james at July 31, 2008 7:26 AM

The reason America is going to hell (well at least one of the reasons) is that this country has way too many idiots that can't even spell. "Bastered"? It's "bastard" you ignorant twit. If you're gonna falsely accuse the guy of things that aren't true, try to not come off like a complete inbred by spelling like a four year old.

Posted by: Nigger at July 31, 2008 9:47 AM

This little fool Ludacris should shut up before he ruins it for Obama. All he is doing is creating hysteria among white people which will make them vote against Obama. Its the same mess the media did to get Bush re-elected, "Oh no, the blacks are taking over." Ludacris, let Obama do his thing, and you stick to singing about your guns, dope, fancy cars and hoes.

ignorance breeds ignorance. these two win the award, hands down. ludacris is the epitomy of an uneducated, hate-filled, racist-inducing thug! what an embarrassment to people of all colors.

Bad lyrics for a ridiculous politician who is as vapid as Luda's spin. Poor deluded people. When will you wake up?

Posted by: Henry Henry at July 31, 2008 11:40 AM

Whoa, I realize that people have stong veiws on this topic, but damn what's with all the racist ass comments? Personally I've always liked Ludacris's rap style, the rap intention was great but the follow through was done wrong. True Hillary Clinton played the game a tad on the dirty side, but you didn't have to take the low road and call her a "Bitch", or jumping on Jesse Jackson or McCain. There's always a better way of getting your point across, without having to be so blatnetly(probably spelled that wrong)hateful with your words. I'm black and I wasn't embarrased just disapponted. It's amazing how people attack Obama not directly, because you really don't have anything to attack him on, but by attacking those around him. Preachers, those around him and now rappers. I hope when Obama becomes our next president, it will show young black people and for that matter young people all over, that you don't have to fall into a stereotype or become a statistic and just to be you.

His rymes are like 3rd grade spelling bees-
hard enough to get the 2nd graders out before crowning a winner G
he talks about Black like he knows something about it
he grew up in a better house then most of my freinds did
He rippin on clinton like she the past not the present-
Without Hilary on his team he can't get enough Votes G
So realize you rappin to make a name for yourelf little hommy
and stick to topics you know about- lookin at little boys pee pees!

Its all good in the White house ludacris---
Life expectancy of obama would be about 3 whole seconds
shorter than that of a radio operator
in Nam they were dead as soon as they jumped off the helicopter

so elect your buddy into the oval office
zero percent of 0 is still no ownership-
irrelevance is only to those who got elected
not to obama and his political death threats-
my hommies will pop him before he takesthe official oath
guranteed by my brothas in white hats and white robes
and if they fail to catch him on the night before the main event
we'll have a long rope hangin above the judge who swears him in for a good old fashion lynchin!

Okay so I'm white, just putting it out there. And I adore Obama. He will do great things for this country. And I also love Ludacris, but this rap is just him being himself. This isnt anything steriotipical. Anybody could have said this, black or white. The point is, the world is getting to be no longer ruled by racism, and thats they way it should be. Obama will help us with that once this all passes by. Obama being elected wont be the death or the superiority of anyone, but it will be America getting closer to equality.

Posted by: amanda at July 31, 2008 1:22 PM

I've read the lyrics.
I've read the posts.
Obama is an intelligent human being who has positioned himself to run for President of one of the most powerful countries in the world.
Luda is a human being who has positioned himself to be one of the leading rappers in this Country.
When did we become a country who can't seperate the 2. Luda has a right to say what he wants and Obama has a right to not agree with it or support it. And guess what, thank God and the Universe that we have the same right.. And it's just that simple baby.

Posted by: SMB at July 31, 2008 1:35 PM

Ludacris shouldve known there would be an uproar but alas, freedom of speech.

The PC Version:

I'm back on it like I just signed my record deal
Yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
Never should have hated, You never should've doubted him
With a slot in the president's iPod Obama shouted 'em

Said I handle my biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a job make me a special staffer
Better yet put me in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, but the Clintons are so irrelevant

Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
If you said it then you meant it no ifs ands or buts?
And all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win majority vote in every state on my man

You can't stop what's bout to happen, we bout to make history
The first black president is destined and it's meant to be
The threats ain't fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
So get off your ass, black people, it's time to get out and vote!

Black man in the White House, I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in any chair unless his doctor verifies (he's old)
Yeah I said it and Bush should have convulsions
Reading 'My Pet Goat' and STILL looking for weapons of mass destruction
When FOX is talking I hear nothing even relevant
Dubya is the worst of all 43 presidents

Get out and vote or the end'll be near
The world is ready for change because Obama is here
'cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here, yeah
cuz Obama is here

Obama is just trying to become the President, not trying to raise up the power of the black people. Come on now, jeez. Some people get to idiotic when it comes to things. He is going to become like any other president, with his own ideas and views on things and no, the white house will stay white....haha

WTF UP!

We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and all we want is the best for ourselves and families and I'm sure most of us would agree that hasn't been the case in the white house w/ George Bush and it won't change w/ McCain and for that reason we should all agree that we do need change. We need "OBAMA" to fix this mess ansd so all the public figures and so called famous role models or whatever you celebrities are suppose to be, can you follow the rule of if you don't have something positive to say then don't say nothing at all. THANKS LUDACRIS

im black... not embarrassed. its a tough song forreal... but its irrelevant and there was no need for Luda to make it. But.. he wants us (black people) to vote... something we dont typically do. And yes he is an entertainer, but our community looks up to entertainers... so who knows he could've motivated someone to register through this song. They're pros and cons.

I liked the way Obama commented on it though..brushing it off and separating himself from it immediately.

Oh and yes... America is ready for a black president...shit the whole world is!

What the fuck does color have to do with anything??? This is about getting the smartest man in the white house. Bush obviously isn't, look at how far we got fucked. We got fooled into supporting a war against a country we were told was responsible for 9/11. Mccain has bush's same politics so why the fuck would we expect change for the better from him. Everyone can say whatever the fuck they feel like saying. Get over it. If you wanna disagree, go right ahead. And as I've read the comments below, most of you resort to name-calling as disagreeing, for you people... you're not mature enough to be involved in politics. Go home. :) I'm actually glad to hear a song involving politics instead of the usual "bling bling, I'm rich, bottles in the club" nonsense. Everyone is ready for change and that's completely disreguarding color. Black, white, brown, yellow, doesn't matter. Obama happens to be black and is bringing the people evidently what they need... change. Nice song ludacris. I respect your point of view.

I've always enjoyed Ludacris's style, and most of his lyrics, albeit not all of them but most. I am a 26 year old married white female studying nursing with a 3.97 GPA. I am an avid supporter of Obama, and will cast my vote for him November 4th. I will also still enjoy Luda, regardless of the ignorant lyrics in this song. People say stupid things sometimes; most of the comments posted here are proof of that. Get to know Obama as a candidate before you blindly pass judgement based on lyrics, rumor, assumptions or fear. Listen to a few of Obama's speeches on YouTube. There you will be able to catch his views on the economy, education, healthcare, homeland security, and especially the war. Educate yourself please, it is not only your right, but your responsibility. Peace

I personally believe that ludacris is one of the few lyrically talented rappers out there and his voice is very catchy. as a matter of fact, he inspires me (and i listen to metal almost exclusively). if america cries over this song, then i guess we're all wimps.

ludacris does have a right to sing this although i did cringe at some of the parts (esp the hillary comment even if i'm not a fan of her). i think what makes this case so unique is that it touches a very tender subject in the realm of a very controversial game: race and politics, respectfully.

whether this will hurt obama, i dont know but i definitely do not believe that it will have a major influence in the long run. i foresee something much more major than petty rap words.

its good to be american. it never gets boring... :)

p.s. this song is very mild compared to most mainstream rap songs. you all should listen to metal. your ears will bleed. lol!!!

ludacris is an entertainer; obama is a politician. BIG difference and i totally agree with sabrina, (the post ahead of me).

I hate it when black people talk about racism. I hate to tell you but black people are faaaaar more racist than white people!!!! Obama pulled the race card when McCain has NOT said anything about him being black!!! Black people can call us crackers, honkey, white boy, etc. all they want to, but if someone says the "n word" they'll have your ass put in jail or fired because of it. And whoever said white people are "a dying breed" is ignorant. Go read a book. The person who said there are a lot of whites supporting Obama, yeah, that's true, white people don't necessarily have to stick up for their race, unlike blacks. When our race does something wrong, we admit it instead of arguing. Grow up.

If you like the song you like it, if you don't, you don't. but then again there's nothing that is ever going to be done to bring peace nor order into this world. there will always be racism, there will always be controversy, and there will never be order. we as humans are flawed and nothing is ever going to fix that. we're never going to come together as one species and learn to make life work to our greater benefit. it's pointless to sit here and argue amongst ourselves because it only adds to what is already there. doesn't anyone see it??? this world is full of takers and no matter who is in office, our society will still fail. It will fail because of the hate we can't bury, because the colors we won't blend, and because we'd rather help ourselves than help each other.

I never really liked Ludacris much, can't say I've ever heard anything he's ever done, but this song is cool. Very true, for sure. I can't see anything objectionable about it, though of course I can say that since I'm not running for president!

LUDACRIS IS SO FUNNY, I love this song, I never actually liked Obama before this song but LUDACRIS IS HILLARIOUS, more singers should turn to singing about politics if THIS IS THE RESULT.

I stay in Africa. And ive got to say people here are aware of Mr Obama's accomplishments. The other day i read an article in some international paper where Obama was shown delivering a speech to over 200 000 germans. That doesnt happen easily especially to someone who is not a president. That goes to show the support the guy receives internationally. So i am dissapointed to hear my American brothers saying the USA is not ready for a black president, those lines where used by 2PAC a long time ago. The revolution has started Africa won its independece from white people long time ago. Zimbabwe and South Africa are perfect examples of that.

Ludracris needs to actually apply some of the education that he has gained in life, in his lyrics and maybe he can aply some class as well. Stupid song. I'm surprised that he did not refer to Mr. Obama as his N. Again degrading, embarrasing, and just plain DUMB!

It saddens me to see that we as a people and yes I said "people" that of which we all are; any race be it white or black would say things that are foolish to make a point...i.e(niggers, kkk. We are all people, nothing makes us different than that of our skin color. We all bleed the same color blood. So the only thing that makes us different are doltish, immoral, and peccant(by the way which means the same thing)persons who use words to offend someone's race. It's time for a change and the only people who use hateful words to describe what Obama is and has to offer are those who are cowards of change.

LOL to the offended white people in this thread.

Looks like your power is beginning to dwindle. America is quickly become the nation that you didn't want. Remember all those tricks that you used to keep non-whites under your thumb? It's coming back to you in full force.

We know how to play the game.

Better get on some ships and go to another country, or be quiet, because nothing is going to change in your favor.

I don't like Obama. Not because he's black or muslim(being muslim doesn't help his cause), but because he has done a lot of talking without really saying anything. He constantly talks of change but never actually states what he wants to change. He names the issues and points out the mistakes of others but never offers his own plan to fix those mistakes. He is a typical politician and thats it. He is no different than Hillary, McCain, Bush, Kerry, or any other that has run recently, except that some of the others can make a decision and stick with it (Notice the lapel pin just as a small example). In any case, I don't believe this song will have any impact on his run at the presidency considering he attends a church that hates america and "damns the country" and people still vote for him. People should remember that voting for blind change could be dangerous. Remember, we aren't all the to rock bottom yet and there are two ways to go. The change could be for the worse.

Obama plays the Race Card. "What they're going to try to do is make you scared of me," Obama said. "You know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills". In other words, "You don't like me 'cause I'm black". Where have we heard that one before? He is really half white and related to Wild Bill Hickok and Vice President Dick Cheney. It was his wife that said she was ashamed to be American. Barack just refused to put a flag on his lapel or put his hand over his heart during the playing of the National Anthem. Yeah, Barack is a funny name but so what. It is true that he bears no resemblance to George Washington on the dollar bill. As far as experience goes Obama is serving his first Senate term but has he ever voted in the Senate or has he too busy running for President since he was elected?

Ludacris is just saying what he FEELS like saying. He's voicieng his opinion and there's nothing wrong with that. And for you racist people, you're all ignorant. Lets not make the same mistake we made last election, go out and vote!

Said I handle my biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer

Is shit like this the kind of publicity that Obama wants? I will be voting for John McCain, so any discouragement to potential Obama voters is fine in my book, but why would you include a lyric like this in a song glorifying Obama? It makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped

I am not one for political correctness, but that's just horribly offensive in so many ways. This song is one huge steaming pile of shit.

Posted by: gop4lyf33 at August 2, 2008 1:15 AM

pull MY head out of my ass...Obama's boilogical father is muslim, his step father is muslim, he attended muslim schools, and has only recently joined the United Church of Christ and if i'm not mistaken that was after his pastor/priest/muslim leader was on video, and i think i'm quoting correctly, saying "god damn america." In my humble opinion people should stop simply voting for an unnamed idea or for blind change and listen to what the man is saying. If we will all listen to what he is saying we will understand that he is asking us to take a blind step in his direction. Thats a little much don't you think? I should also make it clear that i'm not a McCain supporter either. I think these are the worst candidates we've had in a long time if not ever. I have a long hard decision ahead of me...The rock or the hard place!!

Maybe we should also discuss the idea of having a president that won't recite the Pledge of Allegiance or show reverence toward our flag. Should we also discuss the last time he was sworn into office...he used the Koran, not the Bible. This sounds like a great candidate for the presidency of the United States of America.

Posted by: rj at August 2, 2008 10:21 AM

Its no use in trying to convert Republicans, most could be compared to the opportunity for a freed slave, you offer them freedom from unneccessary wars, inflation, deception, in the closet sexually oppressed gay white men, ignorance, high gas prices, a world that looks down on America and not willing to change unless we make a change and they don't recognize it. I completely agree that there needs to be a change in leadership and direction, but i would like to know what changes are going to occur. Do we really want universal healthcare? Are we sure it's the best time to pull our troops back from Iraq? If we look logically at these two issues alone we'll see that Obama is not the candidate for us. Universal healthcare is great if you want to wait for 12 or 13 hours in the emergency room watching a loved one die of a heart attack or stroke. Lets look at Europe, they have universal healthcare. They also have private insurance to supplement what the government gives them and are discussing privatizing some hospitals.

Posted by: at August 2, 2008 10:44 AM

So I guess the current healthcare system is working? Who's kidding themselves, you? Nothing is currenty working and if you don't vote change then things remaing the same. Canada, Europe, and other well developed nations have adopted the universal healthcare and they all seem to be doing better than Amercian (currency & reputation wise) But I do believe there is HOPE and his name is OBAMA !!!!! Thank Goodness there's a GOD

Posted by: vote in 2008 at August 2, 2008 10:53 AM

actually, yes i guess i am kidding myself. it seems our healthcare system works fairly well. I work hard and pay for insurance. the last time i was sick, i went to my local hospital handed them my insurance card, paid my co-pay and recieved care. I also work in Healthcare...i'm a paramedic. Believe me, those who can't afford healthcare still get it. You and I pay for it.

Posted by: at August 2, 2008 11:10 AM

I guess if your concerned about self only and not about others, the system can appear to be working. The republicans have fooled even the most hardest working Americans to believe in some total dominance and forget about looking out for your fellow American brothers and sisters. Is that christlike? Last time I read the bible, I don't think so?

I don't voluntarily listen to music that disrespects women, so I am not a fan of rap music and only know Luda because of his philanthropic activities. Mention of the lyrics in mainstream media heightened my curiosity and landed me on this site.

I read every post and found the hate and racism disturbing, but expected. Moreover, I felt sorry for the literacy level of so many of writers. Our education system is broken and has failed far too many Americans, black and white.

Luda has a right, just as many of the illiterate posters, to comment on what he has witnessed. We all know what Hillary said, we know what Jessie said and we know that McCain is old. Luda called it as he heard it and saw it and if this song will encourage his fans to vote for Obama, then maybe our nation will not produce another generation of dummies.

I don't know what the big deal is. The song Ludacris made was just stating the facts! Hillary does portray herself as a bitch, Mcain is too old to run the country & G.W.Bush is mentally handicapped! Look at the present state of the U.S! He's a fucking retard that needs to be impeached! White people need to keep their racist views to themselves. Because like white girls run to black guys after a bad relationship with a white guy, just in this case that's what the entire country is prepared to do after our relationship with the President ya'll all know & love G.W. It's not even worth discussing really. what i've found really sad though is some of the comments people are leaving. there's your typical racist, white supremacy comments, then your typical idiot black people who only know cuss words and three letter words to formulate sentences. just want to say thanks to the people who are staying objective. looking at both sides of the issue. ALSO. whats this about "is america ready for a black president" talk? obama is no different from all the other politicians that have graced the oval office. he's a politician. only difference is, he's a shade or so darker. he's been educated at some of the best schools, (i'm sure got better grades than our current president), and has excelled in life. why should it matter what color he is when he is just as qualified. Now if obama was your typical african-american male (and unless people are forgetting he is mixed, not just black), well, then you should be worried.

Raise the roof, open the doors, because Obama is here.
Lift your hands up to heaven and let out a big cheer.
Yes we can, yes will, make America one.
Where everyone can stand together under the sun.
The haters will hate and spout their venomous lies.
The children in Darfur are crying watching their parents die.
Our soldiers have been abused and are committing suicide.
While Blackwater makes record profits off of their hides.
Ignorance, Dominionists and bigots should hear,
it's the end of their divisiveness and politics of fear.
Obama is coming and he's bringing us all,
to freedom and liberty,TEAR DOWN THE WALLS.

I am ashamed of how some of you people on here are acting. These lyrics are pretty "ludicrous" if you ask me but so are most rap lyrics today. Im glad that Obama denounced them. However, the way some of you are responding is even more absurd. Black people ( or those pretending to be black people) you guys are perpetuating the stereotype that our people, even Obama, are trying to prove false. The ignorant speech the foolish statements... using terms like "move over whitey" and "pimpin hoes" this is why the world still thinks of us as nothing better than entertainers. Realize how you are portraying not only yourself but the countless number of black people in America. Time to grow up and at least appear to be educated, you owe it to the rest of our people.
Next, Racists, I cannot assume you are all white some of you may even be black but you are so comfortable sitting behind your computer using the N- word. I think you are cowards who would never say these words in front of black people and it is for that reason that I am not phased by you. You are foolish and should also realize that times are changing so change with them.

Lastly as for the elections. I think you should all stop watching tv to find out who to vote for and start using your web-surfing time more productively by visiting the candidates websites, looking at their platform and making adult informed decisions, Don't just vote for someone based on the color of their skin. Remember we are making the choice and we have to live with that choice for the next four years... so at least put some time into it.

I am appalled at the comments that have been made in response to these lyrics such as:"Hell nah foo, I can't wait til we be sell crack and pimpin hoes out that biatch!!!!" and i cant wait till we smoke weed in the white house, etc. Comments like these lead me to believe that the majority of BLACKS are not ready for a black president...yes i said it, sad but true.
