About a month ago, a rep at Columbia Records sent me the MF Dub CD. And let me tell you, it is absolutely THE worst hip-hop CD I have ever heard this year. It's total garbage. And Stagga Lee's music is a STAGnate mass of shit.

There might be an influx of white rappers hitting record stores soon but they bring nothing to the culture or the music scene.

Other than El-P (of Def Jux) I don't see nobody out there. Right now, I'm pinning my hopes on Bubba Sparxxx to really be that "other" white boy who blows up on the charts.

His upcoming new CD Deliverance (due in the summer) sounds promising.

It's funny because I usually don't find out or know if person is black, white, yellow....etc. when I listen to music. There are many artists and groups that I like that I don't even know what they look like. I mean, do people appreciate music visually or by listening to them? So to me it really doesn't matter if person is certain race or color as long as I like their music.

Anyway, I saw that someone has mentioned EL-P. He is indeed dope white MC. But I think people don't realize that there are so many dope white MCs out there. To name some:
Necro, Non Phixion, Jedi Mind Trick, 7L & Esoteric, Sage Francis, Mac Lethal, Slug, Copywrite, Cage, High & Mighty, Apathy and so on.
If I take more time, I bet I can name many more than just those that I have mentioned. So I believe there are many white rappers out there that are dope. I just don't think it just started recently like they are saying. I also don't agree with list of upcoming hot white MCs on that article. None of them could match up to one that I have mentioned above. I'm sure it's the same way for white female MC. People really need to get their lazy asses up and go look for good music instead of sitting around getting spoon fed from TVs and Radio.

White female emcees... ever heard of Princess Superstar? Her lyrics are insane, but sadly I cannot think of any others. I have to agree, the list of "hot white MCs" is baffling. I happened to listen to a few Stagga Lee tracks, and there is nothing positive to say about any of them. Maybe someday race will not matter in hip-hop, but that is pointless hoping. If it is at all in my power, before I listen to any albums I avoid seeing pictures of the artist. If it is truly about the music, image doesn't matter.

Jon, I'm with you dogg! I heard probably 2 to 3 tracks off Stagga Lee (via ftp site that leaks unreleased albums)... I'm not feelin' it at all. It's not even about his race. His music is just another "bounce" track using same formula that got the other "bling" and "bounce" rappers to Billboard's top 40 chart. If anyone does not agree with me, then please break it down and tell me why Stagga Lee is dope enough that we all should be copping his album when it drops. But I must say that "bounce", "bling", and/or "jiggy" tracks are not my cup of tea anyway so people could say that I'm biased... But when you try to categorize by "white rappers" or "non black rappers"... why would I want to waste my time listening to Stagga Lee when I can go get Atmosphere, Non Phixion, or Jedi Mind Trick (amongst all of the other dope music by "white rappers" or "non black rappers"). But I don't do that. I don't listen to music because person is male/female, white, black, yellow, or etc... I listen to music if I like the music for what it is (either I'm feelin it or not feelin' it at all). So in general, Stagga Lee didn't catch my ears and I think it is one of those release where instead of using his own orignal formula or flava, he probably took formula that's already been done by other "platinum" major recording artists and based his whole album on it (as most of them do). So he ain't nothing special nor nothing new. Just same 'ol formula being recycled again by another cookie cutter MC.

As to female MCs... I haven't heard almost any white female MCs that I thought was dope (Princess Superstar is horrible, lyrically and delivery wise). But there are quite a bit of female MCs, in general, that are dope. I mean Jean Grae, Anomalies, Mystic, Floetry, Rah Digga, Heather B... etc (off top of my dome) But I guess we could have much more than what we have now. For some reason, female MC in general seems to be overlooked and underrated. I wonder if labels are too hesitant about promoting female MCs because there are so few examples of female MCs going big compared to the counterparts.

I think there's still much more to go before we will see a balance in hip hop as to Male/Female and Black/White/(and the rest of the races).
