August 05, 2003Tairrie B's Record Was Better1. Why isn't Invincible of the Anomolies ever mentioned in these articles? 2. "she actually sounds a bit like one-time Jay-Z protege Amil" ..was that meant to make her sound more credible? 3. Does Princess Superstar mean to suggest, with her comments, that she herself should be considered a serious emcee and not a novelty act? 4. I downloaded Sarai's song this afternoon. It was poor. She might be marginally acceptable given better producers, who didn't burden her with this bubblegum pop sound. But her name ought never be uttered in the same sentence with Mr. Mathers. Can Sarai become ‘Feminem’? Posted by jsmooth995 at August 5, 2003 10:57 PM Comments
wait, i see there may be a continuation of the princess superstar discussion people had started July 5th--- where are the articles you're quoting from? PS Posted by: becca at August 6, 2003 12:39 AM "I downloaded Sarai's song this afternoon. It was poor." You want to talk about "poor"... Listen to music from the all-white female rap group, Northern State. ;) Posted by: A_LA at August 6, 2003 12:16 PM Everyone keeps forgetting about Eternia out of Canada. If anything she should be considered the next "whatever". Posted by: becca at August 6, 2003 10:34 PM hip hop from south africa is the word hit me up from rushay Posted by: rushay at August 9, 2003 02:41 PM Sarai shouldn't be having articles comparing her to Amil, cause everyone knows what happened to her! Drop it while its hot. And she can't rap. Posted by: omnicutmaster at August 12, 2003 08:52 AM Remember Icy Blu? If you don't, be glad. She was the wackest white female rapper ever. Her brother wrote her lyrics, including for a song titled "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." Unbelievably bad. Posted by: laze at August 14, 2003 04:45 PM She can't rap for nothin, bottom line Posted by: HipHop at September 7, 2003 12:13 AM I dare her to rhyme about anything else besides her being white. This smoke and mirrors gig is not real and she's not a real mc. I'd love to hear her freestyle. "i'm white, it's not right, my rhyme's is tight, I might, bla bla bla" Take it to Dr. Seuss! Posted by: da#1MC-ICANRAPBETTER at December 29, 2003 02:32 AM tairrie b is in a metal band now so i hear, My ruin. its good stuff Posted by: daniel at March 3, 2004 07:39 PM anyone ever hear of JAH JAH.. Posted by: jah jah at June 19, 2004 12:46 AM Tairrie B is in a band called My Ruin and you should all go check them out at www.myruin.com . She put out her rap album in 1989 on Eazy E's label Comptown Records through MCA and after recoring her second album (Single White Female) which actually featured a duet with Salt of Salt & Pepa she recorded a remake of -Runnin with a Devil- By Van Halen and called it -Rhymin with a Devil...and had a band called Sugartooth on Geffen records do the music and DJ Julio G produce the song. He used to work with Kid Frost back in the day. To make a long story short she never released the second album because after recording with the band and doing what was one of the first rap/rock songs (in the early days when Ice was doing Body Count and Rage Against The Machine were starting out she decided to walk away from the rap world and start her own band. This was early 1993 and the band was called "Manhole". Ross Robinson (who produced bands like Korn,Slipknot & Limp Bizkit) produced Manhole first album -All is not Well- which came out in 1996 on Noise Records. Tairrie is doing the rap metal vocal styles on this album and she was doing it way before all these bands of today started jumping on that bandwagon but she never got the credit she deserved for being the first girl to do it in rock. Just like in rap, it's my opinion she was the first real white female rapper. Sure Debby Harry did 1 song and Teena Marie rapped a bit in -Square Biz- but Tairrie did recorded a whole album and was the real deal full on before girls like Misa or Icy Blue picked up their mics. She called herself the B word on record before any woman in rap did as well. She defined it as Being In Total Control Of Herself and used it like a badge of honor. Her first album had guest rappers, Eazy E, The DOC ,Dr Dre, Everlast and even Schoolly D from Philly appeared and produced a few tracks for her. I think that speaks volumes for her credibility in the rap world. Had Dre produced her she probably would have been big like Eminem is today but I heard they did not get along in the studio because she wanted to write her own rhymes and spoke her mind too much or something like that. Anyway, I have been a fan since her rap days and I still am. She has mentioned in interviews she plans to put out a book someday with her stories about when she was a rap artist so hopefully she will. I think it would be interesting. She is also heavily into spoken word and has recorded a couple albums in a side band with her guiatrist/boyfriend of many years Mick Murphy. I think it would be cool to see her on Def Poetry Jam!!!
