Speaking of getting pinged: when I posted Jay-Z's decade-old appearance on my show here a while ago, I pasted in a clip of my voice saying "hiphopmusic dot com!" right after I introduce him, just to make sure nobody could reproduce it without crediting me. That turned out to be a wise choice, as you'll hear on one of this year's biggest mixtapes, Sickamore's Marcy to Madison Square (it's track 25, if you have it).

People aren't shook by Josh Clover's blog - just not enough people are reading it. I'm about to post this up on my blog, but run any blog through http://technorati.com and you'll see who links to who. Hiphopmusic.com is killing shit as usual though: 214 links from 163 unique sources!

I saw that Jay-Z freestyle on Sickamore's tape. Good move and pub by putting the site in there. Dude also straight jacked the Dre/Jay song on there from Dj Vlad.
That guy on the right of Dangermouse looks a bit too happy. Looks like you just cut him out of an ad and placed him in the pic.

a nod for your comments on the ill-considered (okay, dumb ass) sampling piece - which i appreciated - esp. your words on wax po/gangstariffics being one and the same. you're right, a'course, but in my humble defense, i don't deride those guys. i appreciate what they do on a lot of levels, it's just not my cup of tea, and which is also why i'll be a hellava lot more circumspect when sounding off on any aspect of hip hop again - there are too many of you with a deeper appreciation who've thought it through a lot more clearly.
