I think the tsunami song was insensitive, as were the comments that Ms. Jones made to Ms. Info (I see it as a statement that one makes while they are under the influence; Jonsee f**ked up). But I don't think that anyone should have been fired. If anyone listens to morning radio they will know that the personalities go far for ratings and that they are egged on by their bosses. No one ever fired or reprimanded Howard Stern for dissing Black folks, not even those Black politicians who appeared on t.v. with Councilman Liu.

I think this was all done for publicity because Star and Buc are back in NYC on a rival station. They knew what they were doing. As for an earlier email mentioning Miss Jones has nothing to do with it I think it is BS, she is a grown woman well over 30 years old she should have been mature enough to understand the situation. She was in a similar situation with Star and Buc when they were playing the Aaliyah plane crash over and over which Miss Jone objected and walked away.

I still don't get it. The papers quote Hot 97 suits saying Todd Lynn was fired for racist comments. They say Miss Jones had nothing to do with the song. That it was all their producer. Everyone including Jeff Chang and Oliver Wang talk about sponsors pulling their ads from Hot 97. What world are they living in? I still hear McDonald's on the station. Angie still shills for the wireless companies. It's a joke. No one took it that seriously to begin with. The advertisers got a little nervous when the protesters started making noise. The million dollar donation is great, but the events that occured along with the production and airing of the tsunami song did not only affect tsunami victims.

Money doesn't buy happiness, and there are lot of people unhappy about what Miss Jones and company (minus miss info) did, what was allowed to happen, and what will be allowed to continue to happen if they return Feb. 9th.

Allowing them to return on that specific date is just another slap in the face.

It's pretty bad when even the King of Shock Jock -Howard Stern...denounces this distasteful song.

Miss Jones needs to be fired! There's no reason that she should be let off the hook. Honestly, I don't care about the money. That's just their way of buying us off. I'd rather have them keep their "pity money" and have Miss Jones fired. I really think that if Miss Jones isn't taken off the air, we haven't really accomplished what we set out to do. The launching of a rival radio station is no excuse for their behavior. I watched the Hannity and Combs show and a former Hot 97 personality was on. Lisa G, I believe her name was. She seemed to think that it was justified because the rivals were on a new station. I'm just completely frustrated with this because the real perpetrator still hasn't been brought forward. Justice has yet to be served. That is until Miss Jones is fired and is properly punished for her actions.

Until Ms. Jones is fired or the FCC penalizes Hot 97, keep the emails and calls going! I suggest writing a complaint letter to the FCC and CC'ing everyone on it as well, including Emmis. That way you don't have to write to each individual organization which can be pretty time consuming.

I think we're using Miss Jones and Hot97 as scapegoats--of course, what they did was offensive and tasteless, but they're only symptons of a larger problem--which is that since the tsunami was in Asia and in developing countries, it's okay to ignore it and reduce it to another news item lining your browser. British MPs deplore Hot 97's racist Tsunami Song

British Parliamentarians have raised the issue of the racist Tsunami Song aired over Hot 97 the hip hop radio station. The song was blatantly racist and was a slur against Chinese people and other Asians.

Hot 97's Tsunami Song laughed at the deaths of tens of thousands of people who perished as a result of the terrible tsunami of 26th December 2004 which devastated Indonesia, Sri Lanka, South India, Thailand, Maldives, Andaman Islands and even affected Malasiya and Myanmar. It was the world's worst natural disaster.

The Chinese Community in the United Kingdom have joined with Asian Communities in the UK and Asian Americans in the USA in protesting against the racism of Hot 97.

US President George Bush has been urged to take action against Emmis Radio and Hot 97 for bringing America into disrepute.

Emmis Radio have only suspended Miss Jones for two weeks despite her racist outbursts and being a willing singer of the Tsunami Song. People in the UK are calling for the resignation of Miss Jones.

Others have even called for the resignation of Richard Cummings, President of Emmis Radio for ignoring the cruel song which was aired for over a week on Hot 97 radio.

Now British parliamentarians have deplored the Tsunami Song in an early day motion tabled in the House of Commons in the Palace of Westminster.

Frankly, I am not so sure about the "1 million good enough" idea; I believe we should first find out how much it will cost them to, say, donate 1-week-worth of advertisement income, insted of just their salary.
