Shock jock leaves listeners in shock and awe
By Julie Kim
Daily Titan Staff
February 17, 2005

“I am an invisible man… I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me.”

When Ralph Ellison chronicled his life as a black male with those infamous words, he probably had no idea what it would mean to other minorities.

I should know. After all, I am the model minority.

Like many other Asian-Americans, I’ve assimilated myself into modern Americana - so much so that it sometimes takes looking at a mirror to remember that I’m Korean. The eastern culture stresses obedience and respect so that most of us go about our daily routines without making so much noise as even a peep.

That was until the “Tsunami Song” hit the airwaves.

For the many people who haven’t heard the parody, it aired for four days on New York’s popular Hot 97 radio station despite complaints about the skit’s offensive and derogatory statements towards those that were affected by the disaster.

Sample lyric? “All at once you could hear the screaming chinks/ And no one was safe from the wave/ There were Africans drowning/ Little Chinamen swept away.”

The song didn’t just mock the 150,000+ people found dead. It ridiculed an entire continent.

In the center of the circus is Miss Tarsha Jones, the ringmaster of the morning show that aired the skit. The “Tsunami Song” was bad enough, but she added fuel to the fire when while having an on-air argument with her Korean-American co-host, Jones said that the latter “probably [felt] superior because [she was] Asian.”

While an underground movement has started against Hot 97’s morning show and its parent company Emmis Communications, the controversy has failed to catch on with the mainstream media – leaving Asians feeling, well, invisible.

It has been the Internet, with its on-line petitions and cluttered message boards, which have helped generate protests from outraged listeners and readers.

So far, the complaints have worked.

Several major sponsors such as McDonalds and Sprint have pulled their ads; DJ Todd Lynn (who quipped on-air that he would “start shooting Asians”) and “Tsunami Song” writer/producer Rick Del Gado were fired; and Emmis Communications even pledged to donate $1 million to the tsunami relief.

But despite Emmis’ credible actions, they haven’t listened to the most obvious request: fire Miss Jones.

Why all the animosity against her?

This is the same shock jock who once made up a game called “Chinkopoly” and asked station listeners to call in with offensive stereotypes about Asians. It’s the same host that once jokingly asked Ruff Ryders’ Jin, a Chinese-American rapper, how long he’s been in America.

It’s safe to say that Miss Jones isn’t the only one to blame for this mess. And it’s true that her vocals weren’t on the song, nor did she write the lyrics. But her subsequent behavior and her failure to offer a genuine apology seems to many that she isn’t truly sorry for her actions.

Shock jocks are fine and dandy, but it’s a different story when they use the privilege of freedom of speech to perpetrate ignorance and prejudice. The song offended even Howard Stern.

The situation is a sad commentary on America and our cultural misunderstandings. What’s upsetting is that Miss Jones, a double minority (a black female), has more likely than not experienced much discrimination from the ignorant.

The last thing we need is for one minority to be pit against another.

thats some bullshit. fire her for doing the right thing? emmis is a joke. thanks anyway..to emmis that is. you just fired me up even more. time to get some more sponsors and hit up as many web sites/forums/real world people as possible about hate97 and their owners.

It's funny that so many think MS. JONES was not singing on the tsunami song. The womans voice is ALLEGED to be the ASST. By the way still has HER JOB? Don't you find it STRANGE that IT WAS NEVER ADDRESSED OR ANYONE FIRED WHO ACTUALLY SANG. COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!! Ms. Jones days are numbered and nothing good can come from something so evil. We must ASSUME she has the DIRT on Emmis and can take alot of people down if she goes. There is no other productive explanation why she was not fired. You cut your losses and find another DJ everyone cannot be number 1

Posted by: tasha at February 18, 2005 06:18 AM

She's probably not fired because she had the blessings of management to play the song. Come on, it played for 4 days before being taken off the air.

Keep hitting the advertisers and the majority stock holders. Bombard them with e-mail protesting their KKK like actions.

Why protest over tsunami song continues
Emil Guillermo, Philippine News Online, Feb 16, 2005

AS CHEVY Chase would say on “Saturday Night Live,” “This just in, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead!”

Now that’s death you can make fun of. Dead dictators are a good satirical target. Lowly Tsunami victims floating away are not.

That’s why the furor of that wicked Tsunami song parody in New York has not died. And why Hot 97-New York’s deejay star, Miss Jones, must go.
You don’t even have to live in New York. If you’re a part of humanity, you should care.

The corporate response? Emmis Broadcasting has fired two of the parody culprits radio producer Rick Delgado, the writer of the parody that made fun of dead tsunami victims, and DJ sidekick Todd Lynn, who was heard on the show saying he was going to go out and “shoot” some Asians.

Emmis even sounds a bit annoyed in the aftermath. It’s as if they can’t understand why Asian Americans and others are still offended by Emmis’ WQHT-Hot 97, New York’s repeated playing of the vile song parody.

Hot 97 released this statement last week: “We have repeatedly expressed how sorry and ashamed we are that this song was played on Hot 97. After a thorough investigation, we terminated the employment of two people, suspended several others for two weeks, redirected their salaries to Tsunami relief and donated an additional $1 million to Tsunami relief.”

They seemed to have left out, “Now go away.”

But it’s there in the subtext. What more must be done? A lot more. For starters, the DJ ringleader, Tarsha Nicole Jones, the Miss Jones of “Miss Jones in the Morning” was only suspended, not fired. She was scheduled to be back on the air on Monday. That’s a faster comeback than Lazarus.

Emmis is just wrong for thinking they’ve done enough by firing the writer/producer of the parody. If President Bush gives a speech and says something, like, “There’s WMD in Baghdad” and then there’s not, firing a speech writer or blaming a researcher doesn’t fix it.

Bush must take responsibility. And in this case, so must Emmis. The people directly in charge were Emmis managers in New York, and certainly the marquee name should take some blame. Miss Jones signed off on the hate speech. She didn’t lift a finger to stop it. She shouldn’t be dealt with lightly.

Furthermore, she or Emmis shouldn’t be allowed to benefit when things calm down.
By their actions, Emmis is acknowledging that any publicity, good or bad, will be a great thing for their morning star. Who cares if the radio persona they want to build in their morning show is a hideous racist monster, the “bad girl” star. This kind of notoriety shouldn’t result in ratings gains.

It’s the reason why there should be a continued boycott of Emmis sponsors not just in New York, but system wide. The company has to feel it. If you’ve forgotten the Emmis stations, go to www.emmis.com and get the list of Emmis stations in the U.S.

There’s one other issue that could result in legal action. It’s hard to say there’s something more serious than making fun of a disaster that’s claimed more nearly 300,000 lives. But there has been something lost in all this.

That would be the hostility heard on Hot 97 between Miss Jones and the show’s news reader, Minya Oh, an Asian American, also known as Miss Info. The song parody may have been a sick fantasy of a tragic once-in-a-lifetime disaster.
But listening to Miss Jones berate Oh on-the-air was live and real, and could be a more damning example of something that we have all heard and seen is a lot more common: workplace hostility against Asian Americans.

If you haven’t heard it, you can still download the clip thanks to Jay Smooth and his advocacy on this issue at
http://www.hiphopmusic.com/archives/000760.html. If you listen to it, tell me if you don’t identify 100 percent with Miss Info.

After objecting to the song, Info was subjected to an anti-Asian tirade that – hard to believe – may have been more hateful than the stupid parody song. “I know you feel superior because you’re Asian, but your not,” said Jones, whose belligerence seemed real. Both of them had that hip-hop twang, like they were ready for a cat fight. Then Jones, reminding us that this was after all a workplace squabble, started to pull rank (she is the star), and began berating Info for not following orders during previous show segments.

It was race and class hostility rolled into one. And when a boss starts talking like that, what do you have but workplace harassment for your listening enjoyment.
Miss Info, who was the only cast member not fired or suspended over the tsunami song, is said to be considering legal action against Emmis.

“I don’t want to litigate the case in any article,” said Oh’s lawyer Kenneth Thompson, a former federal prosecutor in an AP report. “I just want to tell you it went beyond the tsunami skit.”

If you’ve ever been berated by a non-Asian boss in a workplace because you were too Filipino (you speak with an accent), or not Asian enough (you don’t live up to your boss’ model minority notions), then you’ve felt what Oh’s felt.
It makes the funniest thing in this whole ordeal not the tsunami song parody, but Emmis’ self-deception.

“The Emmis culture carries at its heart the belief that, in order to succeed, a company must take risks, treat its people well and give them the tools they need to win,” boasts the Emmis website.

Do those tools include racist bullying and intimidation? The Emmis philosophy is juxtaposed to a logo that proclaims the company one of Fortune Magazaine’s Top 100 best companies to work for.

Now that would make Generalissimo Francisco Franco laugh. And he’s still dead.

H0T 97 set to ax AWOL Miss Info

BY DAVID HINCKLEY
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Miss Info, the only member of radio station WQHT's morning team who wasn't suspended or terminated over the ill-advised "Tsunami Song," says the station has warned her she may be fired today if she doesn't return to the show - where her attorney says she can no longer comfortably work.
Attorney Ken Thompson said yesterday that Miss Info, whose real name is Minya Oh, "wants very much to go back," but can't work with show host Miss Jones [Tarsha Jones] "because of the way Miss Jones has treated her."

The HOT 97 morning team had a sharp on-air exchange during which Miss Info called the song "offensive," and Miss Jones said, "You think you're superior because you're Asian."

Oh said the station has also forbidden her, if she returns, to talk on-air about the "Tsunami Song," a "We Are the World" parody that used racial slurs.

"I feel I owe that to the listeners," said Oh, who did the "Celebrity Drama" gossip segment on the morning show. "This is a huge thing. The world is watching. I can't go back on if I can't address what happened."

WQHT yesterday said it would "love to have [Miss Info] back. ... But we haven't been able to get an answer on whether she's coming back."

Thompson said WQHT had offered Oh several alternative slots, including a weekend entertainment segment, but he called them "unacceptable demotions."

Hip Hop community joins protest of radio racism

People's Weekly World Newspaper, 02/17/05 11:20

NEW YORK — Protesters were on the street outside the office of Hot 97 here Feb. 14, the second day back on the job for suspended morning show deejays.

The “Miss Jones in the Morning” crew on WQHT-FM sparked outrage last month when it played the “Tsunami Song,” a racist parody of “We Are the World” that made fun of the victims of last December’s South Asian tidal wave that killed almost 300,000 people. “We Are the World” had brought an array of stars together in the 1980s to aid victims of famine in Africa.

“This is something that we’re just getting started with,” City Council member John Liu told the World. Referring to the Hip Hop station’s owner, Emmis Communications, Liu said, “Emmis needs to come clean because people are united against the kind of hatred that is put over our airwaves.”

The company issued an apology and fired several people, including one disc jockey who said on the air he would start “shooting Asians.” Although Emmis also donated one week’s worth of paychecks of the suspended staff members to tsunami relief, many believe this was mere lip service and more needs to be done to seriously address the problem.

The Coalition Against Hate Media (CAHM), organizers of the rally, includes dozens of elected officials and community groups, among them the NAACP, the National Hip-Hop Convention, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees District Council 1707, and the teachers union.

Although the people killed by the tsunami were mainly South Asian, Indonesian, and African, the song’s racial hatred is directed primarily at Chinese people. However, the anger and indignation has spread far beyond the Chinese community. The multiracial rally included representatives of the Latin American Integration Center, the gay and lesbian community, and several city council members. Out in full force were members of the area’s hip-hop community. Many speakers say they came to let the city and the world know that while Hot 97 claims to represent New York’s Hip Hop scene, racism and hate are not part of that movement.

“I am here today protesting … as a young adult I’m speaking up,” said Jessica Edraza, a student from Vanguard High School. “They think that this is what young people want to hear and I honestly say this is not what I want to hear … not this negativity.”

To drive home the point that hip-hop is about unity and respect for all races, the “godfather of Hip Hop,” Afrika Baambaata, took to the stage. “Hip Hop is for peace, unity, love and having some fun, and to organize many of the communities throughout the world,” said Baambaata.

“This is just the first step. We are going to organize, organize, organize. First it’ll be Emmis, and any other stations that try to keep talking this hate or any type of disorder against any people on the planet,” he said. “We must stand against anybody that preaches hate, that teaches hate … [we must] try to make a change … and never give up the fight.”

The rally had four demands of Emmis: termination for anyone involved in the song; donation of a week’s worth of corporate revenues to tsunami relief and local community organizations; establishment of clear, written corporate guidelines against racism and hate; and an ongoing dialogue with the community to implement long-term solutions to prevent hate speech from recurring.

After an earlier protest (immediately after the incident), a number of companies, including New York Newsday and Sprint, withdrew their ads from Hot 97.

“This is just one station and they’ve been doing this for a while, so we’re going to keep the pressure on here,” Baambaata told the World after the rally. But, he stressed, it’s a nationwide problem and plans are to continue “organizing people around the country about stopping this type of program that’s going on our airwaves and coming mainly to our youth.”

It's sad when our own government (FCC) does not respond to such hate and take action. Then again, our own president was too busy with Christmas to respond to such a large disaster quickly.

Has anyone noticed that Emmis proudly displays their award on emmis.com?

I just wrote to Indianapolis BBB to complain.

"How can the Indianapolis BBB award the 2004 Better Business Bureau Torch Award to a company who makes money by spreading hate towards Asians. Specifically, the airing of the Tsunami Song (http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/02/08/radio.tsunami.ap/index.html).

To top it off, EMMIS is threatening to fire the only who spoke out AGAINST airing the song. (http://209.15.102.92/2-17-05miss_info_upn.mp3)If the Indianapolis BBB were truly dedicated to excellence in business ethics, you would rescind the award and send a cease and desist order to EMMIS to keep from stating that they were an award winner.

At a minimum, they should not even be a contender for the FY05 award."

Hot 97's Miss Info Given Ultimatum
Feb. 18, 2005
By Chuck Taylor

Just when you thought it was safe to tune into hip-hop WQHT (Hot 97) New York again, news comes that Miss Info, the only member of the station's morning team who wasn't suspended or fired over the now-infamous "Tsunami Song," will likely be fired if she doesn't return to work pronto. Her attorney, however, says that she can no longer comfortably work at the station.

Attorney Ken Thompson told the New York Daily News that Miss Info, whose real name is Minya Oh, "wants very much to go back," but can't work with show host Miss Jones [Tarsha Jones] "because of the way Miss Jones has treated her."

Oh said the station has forbidden her to discuss the "Tsunami Song" incident on-air, "but I feel I owe that to the listeners. This is a huge thing. The world is watching. I can't go back on if I can't address what happened."

Hot 97 told the Daily News that it would "love to have [Miss Info] back, but we haven't been able to get an answer on whether she's coming back."

Thompson said WQHT had offered Oh several alternative slots, including a weekend entertainment segment, but he called them "unacceptable demotions."

I can't believe miss info is going to get fired for standing up to something she believed in and standing up to that 'racist' miss jones. What is this world coming to? I thought that by now we would have learned from our past and try to better our relations between the different races. However, these things will never change as long as people like Miss jones are allowed to air her racist and blatant attitude towards Asian minorities and tragic events AND get away with it.

Please email hot97 sponsors continually. Protests are great and necessary, but we need headline news to push for firing of Miss Jones and Emmis coporate responsibilities. It might also be helpful to copy and paste the actual lyrics to the "tsunami song" on your email. Some of them might have not actually read the lyrics. They need financial damage thats when Emmiss will hear us.

Why do Emmis and Hot 97 continue to dig this hole for themselves?

The tsunami relief effort is still going full steam with many charities, organizations, and celebrities involved in events, concerts, and contributions.

And then you have this radio station in NY that won't just bury the drama. It won't listen to the public, it won't listen to its staff, and it seems, at least publicly, to think that continued bad PR on the matter will somehow be good for it in the long run.

Wake up Emmis. You really want your fight with Miss Info to be portrayed in the media as a David vs. Goliath fight? (hint: you will not be David). The tsunami song and all that drama will be rehashed again and again.

Bury the hatchet already. And fire your PR people, they are making you look even more stupid than anyone thought possible.

President George W. Bush has asked the two former Presidents to head up private sector fund-raising for relief and reconstruction.

Where do we go from here. "We fall down then get up" that was her introduction when she returned to air,She is a hateful, disgusting, trifling, and wicked woman.

Satan has nothing on her and EMMIS

Know this when EMMIS accepts corporate responsibility then Ms. Jones, DJ Envy, Ms. Hightower, ALL WHO SANG will not be on the air.

If we get enough people to "Ask Fox 5" possibly they would do some story on the issue - here is the link to request the story covered. Hit 'em up & pass it around! Fox 5 loves this.

So who is still following the situation here? Let your voice be heard. Give a shout out for support! Post a message on this board. Don't let your outrage at the situation simmer. Act on it. Than follow up w/ an email hitting some of Emmis' sponsor's. Than hit up HATE97 with a reminder of their poor response to the situation. Miss Jones is still on the air, Miss Info is on her way out. Absolute Injustice! Right a wrong, SPEAK OUT!

Posted by: Shout Out at February 19, 2005 05:10 PM

EVERYBODY ON THIS SITE IS A JACKASS!!

How long do you think you can keep this bullshit fight up?

Miss Info is trying to pull a power move but she is screwed, because I have heard her on the air say nigga many times and there was never a call to arms like this .Jaysmooth you are a fucking loser idiot! your site is supossed to be about hip hop music and it has turned into the bash hot 97 site.Your not informing anyone to a problem, what your doing is not allowing a healing process in order to further your own intrest.I read your interview with Todd Lynn The guy apologized several times yet all you did was try to dog the guy into saying "Hey I'm a racist" I listen to the show all the time I have heard the guy say hey I'm going to start shooting black people white people and latin people it was something he said in jest all the time.In your interview all you did was go after him you never even looked for the other side of the story, YOU DUMB FUCKIN IDIOT!!!! If you really want to prove youself, dig deeper! Your just a bandwagon journalist who jumped on what seemed to be a injustice.

Hey but when this is over you will just fade back into that pool of mediocrity that you came from you untalented Hack!
And that's where you belong!

Did that dude just call himself a jackass?? "EVERYONE on this site is a jackass!!"....looks you the jackass, jackass.

How can you not see that the Tsunami Song was: rascist, inhumane, ignorant, wrong. There's one thing to be a shock jock, there's a whole 'nother issue being a uneducated racist, i.e Miss Jones & the crew.

Continue to boycott everything Hate 97! Keep the movement solid & powerful. "Strength in numbers" is obviously paying off.

Posted by: Skillsionm at February 19, 2005 08:57 PM

Jaysmooth is the biggest Jackass! ever in the history of so-called cause's.Do you really believe hot 97 meant to attack asian's as plot to get ratings? Thats probably why your ass is still doing college radio, you really don't have a clue.

Miss Jones in the morning may have been doing hardnose radio but never shock. The song was messed up and there is no excuse for it but if you really believe this was a plan than it's a good thing that you are still in bullshit radio Jaysmooth.

Posted by: Sick of this Shit at February 19, 2005 10:10 PM

Sick of this Shit,

I applaud artform when it is funny, but everything about the Tsunami Song has no grounds for justification. There was nothing entertaining about it. The last time I've checked, February is Black History month and the backdrop of it's theme has always been the struggle for equality. After more than 200 years of struggle throughout American history, African Americans are still seeking the idealism of equality, so why do you think Asian Americans need to step down from this crusade? Baby, we've just about started and we're not stepping down. To stand down now is to settle for mediocrity, but to strengthen the momentum is to make progress. Asian American people deserve equality and respect as much as any other race in the United States, Sick of this Shit. Keep that in mind when you feel another itch to mouth off again.

Posted by: elsa at February 20, 2005 01:50 AM

Sick of this shit.... I'm sick of your moronic and unjustified behavior. What the hell is wrong with you? Sick of this shit, you are pointing the finger at the wrong people. Todd Lynn did not apologize. What he did was wrong dude! How would you like it if someone mocked about Blacks or Hispanics being washed away. Put yourself in that place! What healing are you talking about? The healing starts when Hot 97 own up to what they did. Just because Hot 97 makes fun of all people..Hispanics and Blacks included does not justify racism. Hatred and racism is plain that. Sometimes, when you are from that particular group, you can lose sight of the clear picture. Jay is not the culprit nor is he an idiot. Give some respect dude. Thanks Jay for everything you have done and lets keep fighting for equality for all people of color. Peace sick of this shit.

To sick of this shit,

go take a shit, you sound ignorant and immature, the fact that you would come on this site which by the way is a forum that ADDRESSES NUMEROUS ISSUES ON MANY SUBJECTS and you found it necessary to voice your opinion why can't anyone else who chooses to. This site has allowed people to have a voice who:

1. May not have been able to go to a protest
and voice their feelings about the HATE and EVIL that was displayed on HATE 97.

Todd Lynn and the rest of that garbage were only sorry they got caught. As a responsible adult one has a choice in their actions.

Furthermore, you sound as if your probably one of the culprits or a relative.

We will fight until justice is served. Your a stupid asshole and need to shut the fuck up, YOUR NOTHING.

Jaysmooth you are such a Fucking asshole for keeping this shit ongoing.Miss Jones in the Moring will continue to win ratings and you will still be doingbullshit radio and trying to continue with your little on line Lynching of Hot 97.Rick Delgado writing that song and Todd Lynn saying what he said put your untalented ass on the map.

YOU BETTER PRAY THEY WRITE ANOTHER FUCKED UP SONG !

When this thing fades and it is fading Miss jones will still be burning up morning radio and you will be what you where before the Tsunami song

All you really did was make it so that you can never work in real radio, because all the big companies know who you are now and they would never trust you to work for them.

I saw Todd Lynn at a comedy club the guy was great ,and this thing has made him a even bigger draw at the clubs. (he has a great take on you asshole internet bloggers)

Hell even I knew the guy was joking about shooting asian's,Nobody in there right mind could have taken him serious. You tried to take a guy down and all you did was make even more popular.

Read what volkswagen stated for the second time regarding sponsorship of hot 97. Here's an email to her after their refusal to rescind sponsorship.
Please continue to write to Maria, volktalk@vw.com
I have yet to hear from home depot and other sponsors regarding this matter.

I wrote...

Dear Sir/Madam:

Sponsorship of the infamous hatemongers (Miss Jones/Hot97) is utterly despicable. Maria, a Volkswagen representative, states that
sponsorship of Miss Jones is solely for demographic and endorsement purposes. What is
Volkswagen's purpose here? Over 300,000 children, men and women in the poorest regions of Southeast Asia and Africa vanished off the face of this earth. How's that for demographics? What are you exactly endorsing?
Endorsement of hatred and racism to fatten corporate revenue, at the expense
of shattered lives of families, orphans and dead children, is inhumane and undeniably callous. Imagine your child perish right before your eyes
and, then, hear Miss Jones and her crew mock your dead child. Ask yourself...Would you have sponsored Hot 97 and Miss Jones? I think
not!! Where is the compassion? VW must take corporate responsibility. By sponsoring a racist station like Hot 97, You are just as much of a
culprit. VW's attempts to denigrate our efforts to stop racism and hatred speaks volumes about Volkswagen's indifference to humanity. The mere association with Hot 97 will hurt Volkswagen's
reputation (It will COST you). Your sponsorship of Hot 97 mirrors Miss Jone's mission to degrade and dehumanize all people of color, ethnicity,
sexual orientation and disability and etc. I will certainly inform others/customers of your refusal to rescind sponsorship of the world-renowned hatemongers (Hot 97/ Miss Jones). VW...I hope 300,000 lost souls do not haunt you in your sleep.

Deeply appalled and offended,

JS

I am going to start writing to station and web site and other media outlets about all the irresponsible shit you have done throughout this entire debacle.

After seeing the things you have written and that God awful IM conversation You had with Todd Lynn
you showed a total lack of any integrity. And you actually posted that Bullshit as a interview.

Oh and I have taken time to go thru you other articles and your archive's this Site is so much Bullshit.

I just want to know what makes these things so funny?
Miss Jones should take a good look at herself and understand that at any given moment she could become a target, for example she is african american and a woman, But it seems she is just as ignorant as racist.....weird....

As for Miss Info I think that she should go back to work, but not with Miss Jones because Jones has no respect for her. I hope Miss Jones' momma and daddy start teaching her better......NOW!!

i don't know what miss jones was thinking but the real thing is, she's a minority as well and she shouldn't be dissin another minority cuz she's on the same level with anyone whose skin isn't white. I mean, not to sound offensive and racial to anyone, but, you don't hear asians running around saying " go back to your AIDS-ridden country of Africa you niggers!" we don't do that cuz we know that that kind of thing is disrespectful and that we are all human beings regardless of color. In saying those comments, she has presented herself to be racist, ignorant, and disrespectful to the entire human race and should not be surprised when someone makes a racist comment about her because she has left that an open field. To play upon a traumatic experience such as the tsunami incident is indecent and disrespectful to the memory of those that have lost their lives and to the victims who are reeling from that loss. You don't hear anyone playing on the AIDS crisis and the endless genocides in Africa because that is considered immoral. Miss Jones should get her facts straight about her own heritage before she goes degrading others of theirs.

I think its appaling for Miss jones to still have her job.I also think that that sort of humor is condone and/or tolerated. Shock jobs hae made it-these sort of mindless skits-there bread and butter. Look at Howard Stern, he's made a career of it and to a some extent rush limbaugh.
Many have posted that the break down between Miss jones and Miss info is race and class. That is true. Both groups have been beaten down treated less than human. It is sad but there is tension between every group in this country. Each minority group fighting each other just so they can curry favor with the majority.
Blacks have are seen by many in this country as sub human. Blacks are looked down upon by every single group in this country. Some blacks feel the weight of this and lash out stupidly and these peoplee should be held to task. Blacks fought for the rights of not only themselves but all men of this country.
Many Feel they are americans because they are born here but few have ancestors who have bleed here. In our history this country has broke, tore and dam near destroyed anyone and anything that isn't White. The thing it isn't a white country, or latino country its a stolen country. So know have the right to feel comfortable enough to say go back anywhere because the ones who are saying this don't rightly belong here either. If those with power happen to read this, do yourself and your audience a favor and fire Miss Jones. Fire Everyone who was involved with the sketch.
