AUDIO: Jimmy Smith/Hunter Thompson Memorial Mega Mashup

Anybody can mix two songs together. But how many people can take an entire 30 minute DJ set, and combine it with a 200 page book?? Prepare to behold the most audacious mashup of all time!!

I was about to post DJ Monkone's tribute to Jimmy Smith and Tyrone Davis when the news came in about Hunter S. Thompson. So I decided to see if I could re-edit 30 minutes of rare funk and hip-hop into a musical adaptation of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Here are the magical results:

I wanted to wade in on this article with my comments as it relates solely from a business perspective.

I read recently that Kanye West is cocky ... but we need to stop for a moment and consider the business of rap/hip hop.

Why should everyone benefit from this tremendous industry except the immediate players? When a "Brand Name Designer" manufacturers a garment for 48-cents in South America and marks that up 1000% who complains?

Kanye West having just won a Grammy is a business entity. When he's place on the cover of any magazine after winning this prestigious award, that publication will sell in record numbers. Would Esquire have approached him if he hadn't won a grammy? Be careful, "a no-name artist" may call your bluff! Who's winning from his new found fame? Why shouldn't he be paid or negotiate his share of that pot?

Or, should the hip hop artist only always settle and be content with just what he's given and shut up? Think about it - are we begging for a lodging? Or are we equal beings in this world where we are all living on borrowed time from the Master?

Nathan's post is interesting, but I don't think I agree with Kanye West's opinion. Sure his image will sell magazines, but if anything it will help sell his CDs more. He's getting free publicity and he should be thankful.

I was able to get the mp3 mix fine. I like rapdidshare because it has more than 100 downloads.pretty good

yousendit won't be effective because it only allows 25 dls before it dies. I would recommend youshareit.com. there's also youshareit.com. it allows up to 100 downloads but the file can't exceed 100 mb.

that was sick, jay (& monk one...) i think hunter would've been digging that, but he'd be like "er, ah, that, was, very, very...cool, man, but..i...didn't hear, ah..er, any JEFFERSON AIRPLANE!!!...man" ht's death didn't suprise me, just the way he went out. rip. did you get the fear & loathing stuff from the dvd? rapidshare was fine. faster than i thought it would be.
