the thing here is that flavor flav has always been a loose cannon. luckily for chuck d his wackiness coincided in the right way for public enemy at the right time. but it's a new era-- it's reality television and everyone needs to make some money. so flavor flav found a new outlet for his antics. and i don't think it would have been absurd for any pe fans from back in the day to question flavor flav's committment to their "message" as compared to chuck d's. as in, what was he in it for exactly and has he changed, should we be surprised? i'm just saying. as for him being exploited by vh1 and mtv, well YEAH, obviously.

PE will always be exactly what they are, voices for change over sonically funky ass beats. How else (other than the lecture circuit) could they reach us effectively? Chuck and Flav have always been split both in the personality department as well as their socialistic views. It seems that in the new age of reality on TV, we get a chance see (or what producers want us to) the motivating factors behind a person's choices. I understand that the "Strange Love" show had to have been heavily edited in post production, but the fact remains that what you saw, you saw. Flavor did nothing extreme to defame himself (check his track record - some things are expected), but there were some very disrepectful actions towards his family, the group and to Ms Nielsen as well. Flavor still seems to be in transition as a man in my eyes. I'm not sure if wooing Brigitte was the bottom line ($$$/exposure), I think that there was opportunity and he siezed it. One thing Flavor did do as far as damage is concerned is put himself in very compromising situations with Chuck, Griff/the rest of PE, his ex-wife & children and with "the fiance" who was a little too patient for me. In an attempt to stretch his time in the limelight, Flav didn't do too much damage to himself, but it seems that him and MistaChuck need to find common ground now that the entire show has aired and ended. PE will either have to move without Flav (in some instances) or come to an agreement that the antics shown and exploited by his cousin/manager, VH1 and the show's producers need to be atoned for - for the sake of the group and it's fans. A show within a show it seems.

I feel Chuck. For real. I can only hope the tact of his positioning is due to a lesson learned when PE hung Grif out to dry.

However, when YOU are the one who is doing everything for your children while the man who contributed the sperm is living large, and your children are hungry, you will do WHATEVER it takes to see that they are taken care of. A mother's fury when her babies are deprived of what they need is nothing to mess with. A mother's love is powerful enough to make her dive into shark-infested waters if need be to save her children from harm. So perhaps it's that same love that prompted what Flav's ex did for her children.
