Meanwhile back in Gotham City...
The R.E.A.C.Hip-Hop coalition, formed in the aftermath of the Tsunami song fiasco, finally got to meet with Hot 97 a few weeks ago and present their concerns about the station. Up until now they haven't been able to speak publicly about what went down in the meeting, but that is about to change.. look out for news on that front.

Hmm, I don't know how I feel about REACH's demands. I do think that there has to be accountability with huge media outlets like Hot 97, but it's also not as though the issues that permeate the culture like misogyny, and especially the use of the N-word, originate with them. I definitely don't think that there's anything close to consensus within the black community that the use of the N-word in music and everyday speech is racist, depending on the context. For the coalition to claim that they represent the voice of the hip-hop community in definitively declaring as such is, in my opinion, presumptuous and elitist...
