Member of The Coup Killed in Robbery

It looks like the person who died yesterday was Tarus Jackson, who was down with Boots Riley and The Coup. From what I am reading here, it looks like Tarus was the young man I met a few weeks ago when the Coup came to my show. He was introduced on the air as "T", for those who were listening. He also came out and introduced them at the Southpaw show.

My deepest condolences to Tarus' family, and to Boots and all the the Coup fam as well.

Here is a local news article with details. This is just a horrible, horrible story.

West Oakland man shot dead following robbery

Slain man was 'hype man' for Oakland rap group The Coup

Robbers pistol-whipped and then shot to death a West Oakland man Tuesday morning, moments after threatening one of his relatives to force him to reveal where his cash was, police said.

"It looks like he didn't move fast enough so they killed him," homicide Sgt. Phil Green said. Slain was Tarus Jackson, 36, also known as Terrance Jackson, who police said was a "hype man" for The Coup, a well-known West Oakland rap group he had joined a year ago...

Another senseless tragedy has taken the soul of another HUMAN BEING...forget about hype man for an entertainment group. In our crazy world it comes down to looking out for number one, and the whole dog eat dog concept is no joke...but for this brother to lose his life for someone elses material gain or survival is cruel yet the unfortunate reality that your life can be taken in any given moment. I sadly send condolences to Tarus' famliy. Damn. :(

whew, this is a tragedy. me and my buddy drew were really early for a show a few weeks ago in nyc.... we were actually first in line.

"big t" came right up, introduced himeself as we walked in and was just great. we spoke wwith him for about 15 minutes, talking about the new tour and the upcoming album...

you could really see he was doing something he loved...

my deepest regards to Big T's family, friends and the rest of The Coup...

I just met T in October in Middletown, CT. He was up here with the Coup and the LifeSavas. He showed nothin' but love when me and my boy approached him about puttin’ up this flyer for our show the next day. He put it right on the merch table along with all of the Coup's stuff. I talked to him for about 15-20 minutes, gave him a beat CD to give to anyone that might be interested. 15 minutes later I saw from a distance give that CD to Libretto and told him that those were my beats and I could tell he was puttin' in a good word. I just found out about this senseless act yesterday, and it has stomped my day and week. I met him one time and he was my friend. T was naturally a hype man. I say this because, even off stage, in the crowd...he was HYPED! I noticed his energy and how much he genuinely loved what was going on. Tarus "T" Jackson is HIP HOP. God bless him and his family. All of you are in my thoughts. Peace to Boots and the Coup.

I've managed to save up roughly $66218 in my bank account, but I'm not sure if I should buy a house or not. Do you think the market is stable or do you think that home prices will decrease by a lot?
