To be honest, that whole DJ "ethics" thing is kinda ridiculous. This is music. Use whatever tools you got. If you download and spin mp3s... power to ya.
I was a musician, a DJ, and a digger. And I would never trade the ability to download mp3s on Lime Wire for the ability to "dig". I could dig my entire life and not find 10% of what I've been able to uncover online. The reason for this is that it saves me time. Instead of driving all over town wasting hundreds of dollars, I can spend that time researching. Instead of standing there in the bins, asking myself, "Hmm, I wonder if this is any good?" I can just listen to it and find out.
Likewise, I'm not gonna tell a kid... oh, you gotta learn to play drums and piano before you start making beats. Likewise, I'm not gonna tell him he should pay $10,000 for a bunch of software and hardware.
Do whatever it takes to realize your musical vision. Don't let ethics get in your way.
