It's still not clear whether there is any basis for a legitimate beef. These lyrics could be summed up as "I don't like how you are living your life". But the obvious question is, "What makes Grimm so special?".

Last time I checked, Doom -- in spite of what comes off as a hazy, alcoholic demeanor -- has been very successful as independent artist. His career is in many ways a model for other hip hop artists.

Grimm is talented too. But if his career advice is so sage, why is Grimm's own career floundering? Maybe Grimm looked at his sagging sales and said, "Damn, I need to start a beef with someone."

All you need to do is poke around online and see what type of shit DOOM gets up to. Money problems seem to follow this dude around, as in, he never seems to pay people their money.

I think he chose "Book of Daniel" as a diss to 'Daniel Dumile' which is DOOM's real name, and also for some religious undertone in that Doom betrayed MIC like Judas betrayed Jesus. I may be takin that too far...but Doom is a disrespectful guy. Grimm brought him up as a son after doom's bro died-he practically raised the guy. Grimm, who invented the MF Metal Face stuff, gave Doom his name, and now Doom's using it to hide from his past and everyone who ever helped him out. He's an incredibly disrespectful emcee for being so skilled, which makes me kinda hate him and love him at the same time.

Damn....this hurts to read, since I'm a Doom fan, but I can't cosign on him dissing MIC, especially when they're all talented in their own right(check for that album if you don't have it-it's worth the $12, hands down!). Mez doesn't say "Midgets in a Trunk", he says "MIDGETS IN TO CRUNK?",
which is repeating what MF Doom referred to MIC as on "El Chupra Nibre".
Mez starts out that way, because he's basically asking, are you sure you want to call MIC Midgets in to Crunk? Do you really think you can disrespect your own group that started you like that?

If what I hear is true, then DOOM must act like Viktor Vaughn all the time. The lack of knowlodge here is outstanding. MF Grimm is massively talented. MF DOOM is massively talented. American Hunger is as good as any MF DOOM album, MADVILLIAN album or whatever. STOP TRYING TO SUCK MF DOOMS DICK.

The song has a lot of history embedded within it.
My interpretation of it is that due to the history that Doom and Grimm had from the past, Grimm doesn't want Doom to be taken advantage of. As we all know (or at least should) Doom is quite the genius ahead of his time. Here's a small exerpt from the song:

Doom recently did a song with Rza and not to mention Ghostface as well, (Dangerdoom) not to mention the Ironman and the Supervillain that only God knows when will be released. I think Grimm perceived Doom to be headed mainstream and changing his beliefs about not only the hiphop world but about everything that DOOM stood for, everything that made DOOM who he is. Grimm, prolly as close currently as a brother can get to Doom, just doesn't want to see such an amazing mind crash and burn.

Doom is the best underground artist out right now besides Technique (dude has been on a severe hiatus, but he making his lost time count...) Grimm is a good artist too, but I sense that he is kinda jealous of Doom's success. He is actually ashamed of himself, and you can hear that in this song. He disses Doom, but towards the end of the song, he realizes that when he disses Doom, he is only dissing himself. They both held each other down through mad shit. Grimm has to understand that a true leader sacrifices for his team and keeps his ego in check. Leaders don't snitch on their friend's personal business and then try to make up for shit like it never happened.

Doom is like Grimm. They don't like some timey shit, and Grimm apologized for his behavior on the song, but you can't diss someone and then apologize. According to the song, Doom was with this nigga when he was out on $100,000 bail. He coulda got locked for being with Grimm, but he stuck by dude all the way to Cali and helped him cut his album. Doom held this nigga down, and then he went sometimey on him by putting Doom's personal financial situation out there into the press. That was some real fucked up shit for Grimm to do, and he knows it.

Doom dissed M.I.C., but he never released anything about Grimm saying his name and shit. He dissed them other wack niggaz on the team that no one cares about....cause they are wack man. Why would he continue to work with a group of no-talents that are going nowhere when he is making beats for Ghost album, doing Madvillain 2, and trying to get his paper up?

I'm sure Doom is an asshole, but everyone has asshole friends. A friend turns into an enemy when they betray you to strangers. At this point in his career, Grimm made a big mistake betraying Doom like that. He needs Doom to really shine, and the loss is felt on the few tracks I heard on American Hunger. The album sounds good though. In the end, Doom is a talented asshole type dude, but you don't shit on your friends that held you down and then expect to be forgiven that quick......

But to be honest, i would much rather listen to Doom in the company of the Stones Throw gang rather than the Czars. Which never really grew. And how mainstream is Stones Throw anyways? This whole thing is also a testament to how powerful Doom is, that Grimm would take his time to pen whole VERSES pointed directly at Doom, while Doom only made a quick reference to the Czars bein...wack. In the end, both fellas are legit, and peace should rule because we all would enjoy some more GRIMM/DOOM collaborations.
