jay dee-rip yo jay- any chance of posting a tracklist for these mixes. cheers jak Posted by: jaksoul at February 13, 2006 06:56 AM thanks for the mixes. the news of dilla's untimely passing seems to maximize the melancholy of his bittersweet beats. i'm hoping to mix up a similar memorial soon. last night i put up a little something remembering the man Posted by: w&w at February 13, 2006 01:47 PM Jay, how can I download these mixes? Posted by: NT at February 14, 2006 09:29 AM The snares got better kick where J is now. tremendous mix, blessings and respect. Posted by: elated at February 14, 2006 11:56 AM God got beats now. Posted by: todd kelley at February 15, 2006 09:55 AM A good bye note from J-Logic to J-Dilla: "You're a legend when everything b4 you is obsolete and everything else after you has your mark on it" I heard Dave Chappelle say that about Richard Pryor! in this case I think that quote applies to J-Dilla! this past week was a rough one for me!! A TRUE SOLDIER! he made it ok to be who you are and to create YOU and be YOU and do YOU! with all the bad shit out there and all the factors working against you, the beats were laid regardless! I did one of your 1st shows in LA with you, the Peas brought you out here and I opened for you and Slum! and you were rocking 2 mpc 3000's (instead of turntables) and I was standing to your right on stage as u dropped some of the sickest live on the spot beats ever!!! I've been dropping sounds that emulate yours and stuff that u inspired me to look for.......and listen for and just plain out push the envelope! I was standing next to you when you saw the Beach in LA for the 1st time just to let ya'll know It was Summer 05 this fool had never left the studio to hit the beach hahahahahaaaa.....you were just stunned @ all the scattered (sorry ladies) ass that LA had walking up and down the boardwalk! LOL remember that honey dip in the orange that walked by? daaaaaaaaaaaaaayuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum! lol anytime I caught u record shopping you always had a few gems to hit me off with or something to go look for! yo man...... YOU MADE ME KEEP THIS DJ SHIT GOING just cause I wanted to hear and play your shit REAL FUCKING LOUD in a club!! thanks for making me almost break my neck every time I heard you on a REAL system! my boy Jamie Strong & I named our Monthly Party "PAUSE" because of that crunchy ass track on your Welcome to Detroit LP one of my fondest memories is when I met your moms @ the conga room rocking her Detroit tigers jacket straight repping her home town! we were on stage you were spinning back and forth with J-Rocc you got on the tables and dropped one of your tracks and J-Rocc leans over to me and says "Peep dilla's mom rocking out" I looked over and saw her breaking her neck (bobbing her head really hard) to one of your tracks! it was a truly great site to see someone of an older generation get it. (my parents freak every time a hip hop track comes on the air waves!) you told her I was one of LA's best dj's (and she beleived it!) LOL that comment meant a lot to me mang!!! we lost you way too early, I guess god needed some programming done! I can't wait to hear what you and Jimi Hendrix come up with!! lol keep it hot till I get up there, and don't worry I'm gonna personally make sure folks hear your name ring out!!! you will be missed, especially by me! J-Logic

Posted by: madman at February 23, 2006 02:03 PM JAY DILLA WAS THE ILLEST PRODUCER EVER I SEEN HIM THE FIST TIME HE CAME TO TORONTO 98 WITH SLUM VILLAGE!!! HE WAS AND STILL IS THE ONLY MC/PRODUCER TO ROCK THE MIC & DROPPIN BEATS ON STAGE WITH TWO SP1200 CONNECTED TO A MIXER......TRUE STORY.... Posted by: KDRAWS at February 24, 2006 09:49 PM Wassup.... R.I.P. my Nigga Jay Dee A.K.A. J Dilla Posted by: Anderson Andy at March 30, 2006 11:54 PM Been listening to almost nothing but this mix for weeks now!
