$29 Mil for Spike!
When I first saw the trailer for "Inside Man" I was tripping off how they only slipped in Spike's name at the very end, mad quick like how they sneak in the health warnings at the end of drug commercials.."warning:this-product-may-be-also-directed-by-spike-lee"..
But their plan to go commercial with a stealth-Spike Lee joint has paid off big time, with an opening weekend of $29 million.. not only Spike's biggest opener but Denzel's as well.
Congrats to you sir, this is long overdue. Can't wait to see where you go with the new doors this'll open up in Hollywood. Did any of y'all see it yet?

They tried that years ago when Wes Craven made that Mr. Holland's Opus rip-off movie. Didn't work out as well as this. It's sad that they have to bury his name, but then again, the previews didn't really scream "A Spike Lee Joint" to me.

yeah I saw it this weekend. I loved the first 4/5ths of this movie, the whole build up to the climax was very well done, but with a lot of whodunit movies, the end is crucial, and I thought the ending was slightly a downer., but still, the first 110 minutes was great. Great to see Spike getting some mainstream love. Oh yeah, they made fun of 50 and all these overtly violent computer games, pretty funny, the game the kid was playing was retarded and ignant as they say peace,

Yeah, I saw it. It was a good movie with different twist to it. I think that some scences could have been deleted and that the story sometimes took you all over the place, but other than that, it was great! Koodos to Jodie Foster for a performance well done also.

Spike has paid mad dues, but he is proof-positive that the virtue of just hanging in there and doing what you do no matter what will pay off with the passage of time.
Does anyone think a movie like Crash would've won the Oscar (let alone gotten made at all) if it had not been for groundbreaking Lee joints like Do The Right Thing, his finest movie and an instant classic?
Of course, Right Thing deserved the Oscar, while Crash... well, you know what I mean.
