AUDIO: Another Internet Beef Rap

Okay here's the story: every Friday some friends of mine kill time at work by having a little e-mail rap battle.. they each type up a verse, then get someone to judge all the raps and pick the hottest, err, keystyle.

Last week I agreed to be a guest judge, and sifted through all the CCs to pick out what I thought was a clear winner.. my two friends also made the same pick, and we reported the unanimous decision. But one of the other contestants, who had offered his rap in the form of a Powerpoint presentation, was salty about seeing all that effort go to waste, I guess.. so he took a shot at the judges, writing back "If you can't write a good rhyme, don't judge them!"

Needless to say, I could not let this chance to do something totally silly challenge go unmet. So here's the verse I threw together for him.

  • 26 bars of Jay Smooth acting all rough and tough (MP3)

(salty emcees' names have been bleeped out to protect the innocent)

hahaha, it's even better the 5th time I'm hearing it. And for the record, that same guy lost again last week.

I have been listening to JSmooth for YEARS...I am talking about more than 10 years....For anyone to disrespect him is unheard of. JSmooth- the rhymes you put together "on wax" brought tears to my eyes....Great beat btw.....

Hey Smooth, Everyone loved the freestyle, but just to set the record straight..the one with the powerpoint presentation was not the one who was in disagreement. It was a contestant who was bitter from losing the previous week also. And he was blaming it on the judges ( of course in a joking manner because he wasn't really serious ) but anyways, so since that week he lost again, he was totally upset with the judging. Which led him to call you out.. But we all have been putting your track on repeat loud enough so that he could hear it everywhere he walks. Thanks for judging and hopefully you can judge on a future battle or perhaps compete.

    Hey,

Does anyone know if T$$ aka Tito Acosta is the same Tito that DJ'ed at the old Atlanta Limelight nightclub way back when? If so, I'm trying to contact him. I used to work there abck in the early 80's and I'm looking for a copy of a music playlist from then/there. I remember that as some great music and mixing.

    Peace

Tito had everything in this disco database software he wrote. Had it up and running next to the turntables and mixer. Wonder if he has the playlist on some old DOS discette somewhere. Wonder if i still haved a copy of it myself. Have to look in the Limelight time capsule vault I have hidden away in the basment along with many real to real tapes from the limelight.
