May 25, 2006Beanie Sigel Shot in Arm, During Robbery AttemptYou gotta be kidding me. Glad to hear Beans is in one piece. But seriously people.. my fellow people of planet Earth.. you gotta be kidding me. How many times is this going to happen? And please spare me the "this has been going on forever, it's not a hip-hop issue" copouts.. this particular case might be totally random, and every particular case has its particulars.. but there have been way too many of these particulars in hip-hop lately, for us to keep rationalizing it all away with our age-old "America has always been violent" platitudes. I don't pretend to know a better answer, but I know these old answers (or more precisely, reasons to avoid the question) ain't cutting it. Posted by jsmooth995 at May 25, 2006 04:19 PM Comments
I think maybe because a lot of the emcees try to keep it real by bein' in the hood. But when you got money and you shinin' all in the hood like that -- and times is hard and people seein' you on t.v. talkin' and showin' how much paper you got -- they wanna test you and assess ya skills. This happen to anybody shinin' in the hood. Dope boys whoever. You just can't be doin that. Beanie a regualar dude. Come through south street chillin and everything. But people hate on him. Dudes gotta eat. Times is hard. They see beanie and they feel like that's their ticket. Probably was some kidnapping bullshit. I'm glad beanie got away without something worse happenin. Kidnappin, runnin up in people's cribs all that shit run rampant in Philly. I know two dudes that were victims off that shit. One got away but got shot. The other wasn't so lucky. Dudes ran all up in his spot took his work, put his business on front street, etc. It just don't happen to emcees. The shit happen to anybody shinin in the hood. in fact maybe that's what I'll call this essay: Shinin in the hood. Times is hard. I hope beanie gets better, tho. You kept it real, get outta souf philly. Stay at ya safe crib. -Black People Posted by: Black People at May 25, 2006 05:59 PM right, it all boils down to whether he was being targeted specifically or randomly. two cars and five guys sounds not random. also, note how he left the hospital after only four hours, with a bloody "towel" on his shoulder. he clearly left the hospital against doctor's orders. either he's a medical idiot, or he's worried someone is going to snuff him at the hospital. either way, who cares. live by the gun... Posted by: Eric Nord at May 25, 2006 09:21 PM yknow, these type of things have always been happening with the street dudes in hiphop, only now, thanks to the net, we hear about ALL of them, whether it was the rapper, or his weed carrier. Posted by: Hashim at May 25, 2006 10:40 PM I've got a one word solution for this violence in Hip Hop thing: paintball! Posted by: Bluto at May 26, 2006 12:14 PM Hashim, you need to put up the "Whose the next dead rapper poll?" again. My vote is for Beanie Segal...how much trouble can follow one man??? Seriously.
