The Belt is where it belongs around the waiste of the best fighter the ufc has had the privledge to have in its ranks George St. Peirre! St. Peirre Gave hughs to much respect in there earlier fight this is now a thing of the past watch out this man has the skills talent and ability to continue on this path. There is no doublt in my mind or other fighters i trian with that Peierre is here to stay and will continue to become a vet!

i think the fight may have been fixed. gsp is an excellent fighter and all, however, dana white had everything to gain if gsp took the title. gsp is more charismatic, dynamic, etc... then matt hughes. moreover, the ufc needs more than chuck and tito to be the faces of the ufc in order for it to be comparable to pride in terms of respect across the globe. if you saw matt hughes entrance, hughes hugged his dad - like he knew he was gonna lose. lastly, we all know that hughes really loves farming and fights only to put money into that. white probably gave him a large sum of money to drop the belt ... enuff so he could go do what he really loves - farm and spend time with the fam.

Posted by: christian at November 23, 2006 4:53 AM

Christian... give me a frickin break. If Hughes would have won by huggin daddy you would have said something about the respect of us families... Dana makes money regardless, I suppose you believe Franklin lost due to a wrist injury too. The fact is simple Pierre kicked Hughes ass in both fights.. the only reason Pierre lost in the first was he gave up his arm for a submission. And as far as pay off... Pierre kicked B.J.'s ass and should have gotten first shot at title but a mysterious injury put the only other gut to beat Hughes in the drivers seat and he had performance anxiety. So enuff (ha ha) of the conspiracy theories, your man was not up for the game. He was the loser of the day.

P.S. PROUD CANADIAN.

Posted by: jason at November 28, 2006 10:15 PM

That was one pure Canadian ass kicking! When it was over GSP should have offered him one our Canadian beers as well it would have been the strongest thing Matt could have finished all night!!!!

Posted by: natedogg at December 2, 2006 11:45 PM

Nice finish. Pierre probably made up for giving Hughes too much respect when he dissed him in the octagon after Hughes's win over Penn though. His private apology afterwards doesn't make much of a difference considering what he said to Hughes was heard by millions. All in all, I think both fighters deserve a lot of respect...but Matt will get his belt back.

Posted by: Ben at December 6, 2006 2:00 AM

I am pretty sure that belt will be in Canada for quite some time. All we have to do now is get a belt for The Crow. Ya baby! Swick .....?

P.S. Hughes was not exactly innocent when it came to disrespecting his opponent, GSP should not have appologized in the first place, but it goes to show who the real champion is.

Posted by: jason at December 7, 2006 4:58 PM

Did Hughes say something disrespectful in or during the GSP fight? I didn't get to see the event when it aired on PPV.

Posted by: Ben at December 7, 2006 10:50 PM

Matt Hughes got what he deserved...the corn stuffing beat out of him. Mr. Midwest America boy better get further acquainted with those farm tools!

Posted by: Kris at December 8, 2006 12:03 PM

GSP is a great fighter...almost perfect except he's a french queer canadian!!

P.S. United States Would crush Canada ehh.

Posted by: superior at December 8, 2006 11:52 PM

So what happened with Monson and Sylvia? Sylvia?

Posted by: Ben at December 10, 2006 12:39 AM

Superior...? At what, tossing salads. How would you know where the queers are.... thats right they immigrated from the U.S to Canada during the Vietnam War. And Kris... maybe you should know what your talking about before spouting off. Hughes was disrepectful to GSP since his un-announced appearance on UFC series.

Posted by: jason at December 11, 2006 11:52 AM

Finally GSP has the belt he so deserves. I waited over a year for George to be given another title fight. I knew he was the champion. I think Dana White purposely procrastinated in setting up a rematch for st pierre and matt huges because he knew matt hughes lucked out the first time. I Love Georges St. Pierre and Canada is so proud of his accomplishments in the UFC.

Frankilin Vs Sylva, just goes to show that the quality of Pride Fighting is Superior to that of the UFC, just because it's "Americanized" doesnt mean it's better.
The End

hey superior the first one i wrote your bitch ass was done buy Ben L the one where i call you americanots i bet you are some little geek buy your computer that can talk tough over a computer and only wishes he can beat up his little sister wich i am not. i am a black belt jujitsu champ and a golden gloves champ makeing my way up to face your precios matt hughes in the future and ill tell you what my first fight in the ufc i will dedicate it to you as i am smashing one of your country mans face with my wrecking ball CANADAIN hand BULLDOGG L

Posted by: BEN L at December 18, 2006 12:51 AM

Yeah, we'll certainly all remember the random guy who talked a bunch of sh!t on the internet. Let's face it. Canada and America have both bred great fighters. I choose not to steriotype people by comparing them to a small minority, so you'll never hear me say that Canadian fighters suck. That's my way of showing you guys the proper amount of respect you deserve. See, if I were to steriotype you, then I'd read BEN L's post above and say that America has better education programs than Canada because one tough talking Canadian who says he's a fighter can't even spell JIU JITSU. And by the way, Mr. Bulldog, Sir, how do we know that you're not just some (let me quote you here, genius) "...little geek buy your computer that can talk tough over a computer and only wishes he can beat up his little sister"?

Posted by: Ben at December 19, 2006 10:16 PM

It's good to see them yankees get what they deserve eh! They are all talk and and that was easy to prove. They can't even beat the shit out of there own underwear

Posted by: clint at December 19, 2006 10:29 PM

Why is everyone freakin out about Canada and America...

It should be about Hughes and Georges St. Pierre.

Plain and simple, Pierre won. Good fight. As much as I love Hughes he had it coming. Gettin a little old, just a matter of time before someone beat him. I'm glad it was someone as reputable as GSP.

Outtie

Posted by: jdogg at December 20, 2006 4:39 AM

Freakin out about Canada and America....
Hmmm could be because any time the Americans lose at something they pull the dominant country card. Ultimately the best way to describe the difference between both countries....
Canadians do not fear announcing the country of origin when traveling around the world .... Americans do. If you want to be proud of something, be proud that you live in a country that truth and honesty come before tyrants and oppressors. No matter how you wish the world to be perfect, there are few people around the world who have ANY RESPECT for Americans in general due to the reasons you can see above.
I personally have seen the A-typical American treating people in other countries as if they are lesser humans. When shitkicked by said people they cry and act as if they have done nothing wrong. Simple life plan RESPECT OTHERS AND YOU WILL BE RESPECTED.

Posted by: Ben at December 21, 2006 12:27 AM

Ben ... my opinion was in response to the question by jdogg.
Why is everyone freakin out about Canada and America...
As far as see above, read some of the U.S. retoric printed above. My opinion, again, had nothing to do with your post.

Posted by: jason at December 21, 2006 6:13 PM

Funny how there is so much U.S. bashing going on. Hughes is 40-5 and people are saying that he sucks? I find it utterly ironic everyone bashes on the U.S. but uses our products, watches our movies, listens to our music, watches our UFC (oh wait, is that why GSP even got a chance to begin with?). People like Jason obviously can't even RHETORIC correctly, but still use the word. Maybe that is the point; if you hate American's start by getting rid of everything American and stop watching the UFC. Maybe your life motto should be, DON'T BE A HYPOCRITE.

Last note, it is also entertaining to see all of these kids talking about Pride vs. UFC. If you go down through the list of most UFC/Pride fighters, they have all fought each other in different MMA competitions. For example Tito beat Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva for the middle weight championship not to mention Silva getting pounded by Vitor Belfort in UFC (20?).

Posted by: Liam at December 21, 2006 8:38 PM

Sorry, Liam i did not realize you were a english major.
If making a mistake but not including the h in RHETORIC gives you an opportunity to ask for Canadians to stop using U.S. products, how about we as Canadians stop our B.C. water power , (Californian Black Out) no more electric, maybe you should pay your federal debt on our soft wood lumber. As far as i am concerned the issues are government with regards to your bullshit. And nobody said Hughes was not a great fighter, just that GSP was better. So instead of ramming your head into an english dictionary, maybe you should start RESPECTING on a world scale rather than regional. As far as HYPOCITE look in your own backyard before slinging your shit into ours!

Posted by: jason at December 21, 2006 11:23 PM

Nice,
you mentioned two powerhouse features of Canada.. wood and water. Congratulations moron... do you have any other mind-boggling facts about how Canada is the most superior country in the world?

Keep up the good work north of the border... oh wait, you don't do anything.. (oops almost forgot about the vital wood and water). In fact, I think I /will/ keep slinging shit into your yard. Its not like you could do anything about it anyway (unless bitching and moaning counts).

Seems like your a little mad. Don't worry, I still love you. If you ever need a friend, let me know. I am glad that America can help serve your needs (like the computer your on, most likely).

Posted by: Liam at December 22, 2006 12:02 AM

You smallminded piece of shit. What are you doing besides sitting on your computer. Besides throwing shit I wouldn't be surprized your scanning kiddie porn you fuckin useless moron. And in reference to your love ...Fagget ... keep that shit on your side of the border.

P.S. Research where you get your computors from, I am beeting Mexico, Canada & Asian countries produce them you fuckin peon.

Posted by: jason at December 22, 2006 3:54 AM

The only reason GSP won is because he "accidentally" kicked Hughes in the nuts, TWICE. No one fights at 100 percent after that; it's a testament to Hughes' quality that he continued to act with good sportsmanship. Next time, let's see GSP take two full-force "unintentional" roundhouses to the groin and come out the winner.

Posted by: Robin at December 26, 2006 2:47 PM

i dont understand what the useless uproar over canada vs. USA is about. Nothing about the fight has anything to do with the fighter's nationality. GSP is a spectacularly well-rounded fighter, Hughes is not. That is not to say that Hughes isn't a good fighter, he is. He has fantastic wrestling, takedown, and submissions, however, he can't go toe-to-toe with a man like GSP. As for the "accidental" groin shots, GSP is a clean fighting man and does not need to resort to intentional groin shots to win his fights. They were incidental and completely unintentional, you could see it on GSP's face each time he did it.

My point is, there is no reason for this hateful slander between USA and Canada. Hughes and GSP are both talented fighters, GSP got the belt. Personally i hope he keeps it, but you never know what might happen. Like Hughes said, there are many factors that make or break a fight, the factors may be in Hughes' advantage next time.

Stop the bickering, its completely unneccessary and irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Look Liam. I am sorry. I have to admit I was a little mad. You're completely correct on just about everything. I was being spiteful and mad. The truth is this: i have been hiding my homosexuality for a while. My parents want me to move out of their basement and i just found out that Wendy's is going to fire me! Talk about a lot happening all at once. My boyfriend (Sergio) has really urged me to apologize. Because of my lack of education and being inbred (my parents are brother and sister) I have inherited some chemical imbalances.

Again I am so very sorry. I know i would probably get my ass kicked in person. I realized that someone has to be the girl between Sergio and I. I just need to start practicing! Anyway, shoot me an email someday and I hope that maybe you will find it in your heart to forgive me. I am off to rub some peanut butter and jelly on Sergio and probably get some later on (i am so bad! sigghh...)

You know Jay I feel the same. I was raped by my Uncle and my brother constantly for three and a half years. My mother slept with my grandfather, sister, and cousins till she was 20 yrs old. I know how it feels to be subject to sodomy and beastyality since they made me fuck my own dog, and made Benji fuck me. My feelings for my dog have not changed since that first day. I wish you could feel the love I have for animals, since they are the only one friend that won't scream when I touch them. I know that this is something that only happens in the U.S. but I hope you can forgive me for my disrespectful attitude toward you and Canada. I know that you are the better country, the way you take care of your pets. If I ever came up to your country, I would probably stop fuckin dogs, but here in my country their is no one to stop me from my passion toward canines. As an American I can not seem to think for myself, so I had to get a homosexual friend to post this note to you. If you are ever down here in my country, please let me know by wearing a dog collar when you arrive.

P.S. Lambskin and leather work for me as well

XOXOXOXO

Are you stupid fuckin americans for real???? As a country thats so proud about its patriotism, you guys are chicken shits. You can't even respond to a post that you sent. As far as I am concernced....you win. I will never post on this site again. Till next time ....

Posted by: Jason at December 27, 2006 10:29 PM

I don't get why guys from my own country are like this. This fight was won by the better fighter. Most people I know have respect for both countries. These are just smallminded kids playing a game, thinking insults are cool. Georges St. Pierre is probably the best as far as full contact, Matt Hughes is/was the best as wrestler. He was smart enough to get his boxing skills up for Pierre, but was not ready for his speed. Hopefully he comes back for another shot at St. Pierre. As far as the low blows, I did not see them. I watched the fight, and I never saw an intentional blow from Pierre, below the belt. As far as the postings go, this should not turn into an attack between both countries. Hughes will be back.

Posted by: Ben at December 27, 2006 10:42 PM

IU do Not Give GSP any respect for winning that fight... If you cheap People would pay and watch the first round you would of seen that Gsp resorted to kicking Hughes in the balls purposley though they say it was an acadent TWICE!

I will Adment that Hughes got a little cocky and underestamated his opponent I think If Hughes Is Hungary Enough That He will Train Hard and Kick The S$%# Outta GSP and Get His well Deserved Belt Back

F#@k Gsp He is a gay fighter, Coming out and saying in a gay voice "I was not Impressed With your Proformence" What kind of So Called "Champion is that"

you people need to relize the facts witch are Gsp got luckly (Plus He Resorted to dirty Fighting) that Hughes did not train for this fight and did not take it serisously Thus GSP Won, does not mean he is a great champion tho.

Posted by: Joseph at December 29, 2006 2:14 AM

Joe ... can you write proper english? If your opinion was compared to your education we would all be laughing.

Posted by: Peter at January 2, 2007 8:08 PM

Such hostility, I'm a Canadian and am both a fan of Hughes and St.Pierre and am bewildered at the lack of respect for Hughes abilities. I realize that St.Pierre is extremely well rounded and a great fighter but I still believe Hughes had a poor game plan in fighting St.Pierre, and was over confident with his stand up abilities. He made a few half-hearted attempts to take down St.Pierre with one major attempt, I was very impressed with St.Pierre's balance and flexibility. St.Pierre's speed, footwork, balance and kicking ability won that fight coupled with Hughes over confidence in his stand up with wanting to be like Chuck. I don't know for sure if Hughes could have beat St.Pierre on the ground but I'm very sure he's not good enough at his stand up to be competitive with St.Pierre. I feel UFC fans are making a mistake with underestimating Hughes and still feel it would be a very close, competitive fight if he had more respect for St.Pierre's stand up. I think both fighter's are great guy's with St.Pierre being the more socially adept of the two, but I think Hughes is a good guy deep down where it counts but sometimes lack's social skill's. I wish everyone the best and may you all have a great new year.

Americal vs Canada... STFU people damn! All you people arguing on this issue look stupid, to people who think like me, that is.

I used to think that Matt Hughes was a nice and humble champion until I saw him the the Ultimate Fighter show. He acted like a dick and I'm glad GSP stuck it to him. GSP just seems like an all around good guy. Quit bullshitting yourselves!! Watch the fight again, you can tell those kicks to the nuts were accidental. The kick to the jaw, however, was not!
