Diego Sanchez calmly acted out his bizarre prefight ritual. Clay Guida bounced around the Octagon, a whirlwind of energy and ratty hair, looking every bit the caged animal he pretty much was.

Two of the UFC's most unique personalities went to war in the main event of the Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale in Las Vegas on Saturday. After three frantic and extra-bloody rounds, Sanchez took the win via split decision.

"Are you not entertained?" Sanchez asked the audience after the win.

Guida (25-10-0, 5-4-0 UFC) threw an incredible rapid-fire series of fists at the start of Round 1, but his energy was greater than his accuracy as Sanchez (21-2-0, 10-2-0 UFC) answered back with powerful uppercuts and knees to the head, mauling "The Carpenter" and establishing early that he'd be a serious threat in a striking contest. Sanchez battered Guida all over the cage, dropping him with a head kick and trying hard for a knockout.

After a takedown in Round 2, Guida attempted to force a ground-and-pound flurry. Sanchez fought back with a series of elbows to the head from the guard, opening a major cut on Guida's head and covering both fighters in blood. Guida continued to work his ground game after a takedown in Round 3, but Sanchez threatened late with a kimura attempt. As time ran out on the fight, Sanchez and Guida stood up and raised their arms to an appreciative crowd reaction.

Two judges gave the bout to Sanchez by scores of 29-28 and 29-27 for the split decision victory. The third judge scored the fight 29-28 for Guida.
