Michael's mom Katharine Jackson, that is, not the mother of the kids. After so much drama and uncertainty, this seems like the best possible outcome for these children.

Some are saying Michael Jackon's mother, who is 79 years old, is too elderly to handle childcare responsibilities. But her having custody doesn't necessarily mean she has to do everything herself, just that she'll be in charge of making the decisions on who cares for them day-to-day. So the real question is not her stamina or fitness, only her judgment, and on that level she seems about as good a choice as is available. It seems likely that she will have Janet and Rebbie in the mix helping out, and obviously they'll have ample resources for additional support.

And at the risk of belaboring the obvious, the most important factor may be their awareness that Joe Jackson should be kept far away from these kids, Far, far away.
