This is GREAT news. Speaking as a Democrat, let me be the first to say: RUN SARAH RUN!

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's political action committee raised nearly $733,000 in its first five months, according to a report filed Monday with the Federal Election Commission.

Receipts totaled $732,867.70 in the period between Jan. 1 and June 30, including contributions as high as $5,000 from some individuals.

An estimated $200,000 more has poured into the SarahPAC committee since the former Republican vice presidential candidate announced July 3 that she will step down as governor July 26, said Meghan Stapleton, her personal spokeswoman.

Stapleton said about $1.2 million has been raised between SarahPAC and a fund set up to help Palin pay more than $500,000 in legal debts stemming from multiple ethics complaints filed against her.

"What this tells me is that there is an overwhelming level of grass-roots support for the governor, and that Americans see her as a powerful figure for promoting conservative values," Stapleton said.

A flurry of contributions in the last two days of the reporting period followed an e-mailed plea to supporters.

"It worked, and it's still working," SarahPAC treasurer Tim Crawford said.

Palin, who is believed to be eyeing a 2012 run for the presidency, launched SarahPAC in late January, saying the goal was to help support candidates for federal and state office...

She's amazing. Courageous, strong, and has all the values that makes the United States a great nation. GO Sarah.... you make all women proud.

She got charisma, very articulate and intelligent, people calling her stupid and all kinds of name are just blinded with hate and jealousy 'cause she's not like them dumb, stupid and ugly.

What I liked about Sarah Palin from the beginning was that she is a regular person. Isn't anyone else tired of the self serving pigs that run our government? Everyone oh so loved Obama, but he's doing what every other politician does. He said whatever he had to to get into office and now that he's elected he does whatever he wants. I can't even watch the news anymore...it makes me crazy! Hpw can people like NancyPelosi and Barney Frank be running things? I think that they really could be bat sh#t crazy. Doesn't anyone else notice this or are we really all sheep, too fat and spoiled to take a stand? We are supposed to be the ones that this fast talking politicians are serving. Yeah...right. God help us all.

Posted by: Laurie at July 14, 2009 9:32 AM

Palin is more of the same. No matter how down to earth she is part and parcel of the two party system. Corrupt to the bone and self serving, she would fit in well in DC.

Posted by: Dave at July 14, 2009 10:18 AM

Individuals with charisma and the ability to arouse passions in others have always been able to collect loyal followers. Big Deal. Palin has from the outset shown her limited intelligence and knowledge. Whether in impromtue interviews or in prepared debates or speeches, I cringe at her inability to articulate thoughtfully or express the general and specific knowledge required of someone who aspires to national leadership. Every step she's taken in the last several months has also demonstrated her incompetence and unwillingness to work under difficult circumstances. I don't feel sorry for her. The fact that this PAC is raising $$$ for her and other conservative candidates bothers me not. Millions of us had enough of the conservative policies that shaped our failing systems for the last three decades.

W. pretended to be folksy, too, and look where that got us. Thing is, no one's going to fulfill all their promises. But voting for someone you can picture shuttling the kids to school or have a beer with is probably the worst thing you can do. You're not getting what you want; you're hearing what you want. Just like everyone has heard what they thought were the right words from every politician who's ever won. Trouble with Palin is she's as stupid and corrupt as Bush was and just as unqualified. You can run a state and still be unqualified; look at Schwarzenegger. (And that's not a party distinction. There have been terrible choices by both parties. Clinton signed off on NAFTA and helped make it easier to send jobs overseas.)

Sara Palin would be a breath of fresh air considering the porcine demented monsters that are currently bankrupting the country and weaving the web of socialism to stifle freedom and opportunity. Let's get active and root out the socialism that is going to destroy our form of government. Wake up people, it is damn near too late!!!

Well to all the oboma sheep out there that think he is so smart and palin is so dumb. Let me remind you of some things your great one has done. He thinks the united states has 56 states he has tried to walk into the white house though the window and wants to seat the worst chife justice to fight aginst whitie that has ever suck air in this country. You all thought you were going to do something so great for the races by voting for the black man, but you should have look past skin color and saw the true musslim that runs deep in his blood. By the way, all the white people who voted for him you cant use your vote as a trump card, what I mean is you can't say I am not raciest I voted for oboma. It's just as bad as saying I have black friends. But any way why were we not alowed to talk about his muslim ties or about his family or his fake pastor or about his two (mut dog) dads he had or where he was born. now I don't even have to say told you so. even though you will never admit to being wrong for voting him in. You and I know you scrued up, but the saying isnt true once you go black, you can go back. So 2012 lets do the (white) thing and fix the mess you made

I'm intriqued by the posts that appeared after mine. Just to clarify a bit, I don't think that I could go have a beer with Sarah. But I think a person that is in touch with and has to stand face to face with the rest of us "little people" has more of a grasp on reality. Most of our politicians never interact with the rest of us. To the comment that she is stupid and not articulate...watch CNN much? Some people just can't be reasoned with. I'm not saying she is brilliant by any means. That's why the president has a cabinet...so the people that are brilliant in different areas can advise them. (Not a bunch of czars that can override any decisions that are made by Congress...now that's scary!) The media is doing as good of a job of belittling her as they did making Obama out to be our Lord and Savior. There is such a double standard and bias in our media. When Bush spent mega bucks he was slaughtered by the press. Obama is spending more, perhaps than all of the past presidents put together (or he will by the time he's done) and somehow that's acceptable. Go figure. Anyway, the way I interpret many of your posts, many of us agree...the system and most of the people "serving" (as if they are serving any of us) in it are flawed. What now?

LING TO YOUR BIBLE,AND GUN.. REMEMBER THERE ARE 50 STATES, DON`T BOW TO MUSLIMS AND GO FOR IT.HAVE YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE PUBLISHED..

Sean Hughes, I find your statements appalling and filled with consternation and hate. May I suggest reading Mike Murphy's commentary in the 22 June 2009 issue of Time? The Republican Party must wake up and smell the coffee and demographics of today's USA if it wishes to continue its livelihood.

Posted by: Tereasa Lynch at July 14, 2009 1:20 PM

Why does it always have to come down to Republican or Democrat? May I suggest that anyone that only votes for their "party" instead of the best candidate should not be allowed to vote at all? And for the ridiculous people that turn these kind of conversations into the sewage that Sean is spewing...please keep it to yourself.

With Sarah Palin, a just plain person with a just normal family, I have hope for the future. With the president we have now, I have despair. RUN SARAH RUN !

Good afternoon, Sean. I appreciate you reading others' comments. Please know that I am a white, senior USA female. Our Constitution gives all of us the right to free speech. I respect your rights and opinions. I quote from Mike Murphy's commentary from Time's 22 July 2009, "Saving the GOP is not about diluting conservatism but about modernizing it to reflect the country it inhabits instead of an America that no longer exists." Both Liberals and Conservatives, and the need for compromise, serve us well. I respect your views, Sean.

David, your statement, "Give more down to earth people seems like they
are the one's that can pour ---- out of a boot
without looking at the heal," intrigues me. It's an expression that I am unfamiliar. Please explain it to me.

Sean,
I will defend to the death your right to make a fool of yourself, but learn to spell for Chrissake.

Posted by: Andrew S. at July 14, 2009 6:54 PM

i think it would be fair to say that obama has spent more in 6 months than bush did in 8 years. I also, think it would be fair to say that obama is "redistributing the wealth" Also, it would be fair to say that obama has basically tried to slam and put-down the American people in most of his speeches he made on his "apology tours". The main thing to focus on is that nothing has to be sid - obama nd crew are doing it themselve's. And you can bank on the voice of the AMERICAN TAXPAYERS speaking out in the upcoming elections.

I do not get my future from the media - I get news - if they will ever report it. Common sense is all it takes. Let me ask yall this; 'would you deplete your savings account so that someone you don't know can feel better about themselve's? Would you give away your children's future -college and heritage - so that a stranger could buy a new car? W ould you take $10,0000 dollare out of your savings account and stand on the corner and just hand it out, knowing that the money was to make sure your family would be taken care of in case of emergency? Would you?

I have never heard of any democrats, socialists or minorities give away any of THEIR money or property - never. I am a fiscal-conservative - does' anyone now days no what that is? No more "hate and blame" and "smash and bash" - it's over with. It will not work anymore. Bush is gone and that's that - it is obama and crew now - deal with your decissions like everyone else has to.

And please, stop bashing Mrs. Palin for being a professional and personal woman. She is not dumb and she is very motivated and will run over your ass if you get in her way. I would love to sit down and drink a beer with he, I would love to go hunting with her,I would love to see her just being a normal person and becoming more active in the politics in our nation.

Another question; how many out there remember your moms and gramdmother's taking care and running the house? How many remember dad enjoying mom taking care of the stuff? Why all of a sudden do people think that a woman can not do it? i think a lot of people have not been really keeping up with what Mrs. palin has done - have you? if you have pleas let us know what she did 2 months ago?

Posted by: Jeff Heath at July 14, 2009 9:24 PM

learn how to spell Sean Hughes. Who is the real moron?

Posted by: rh at July 14, 2009 9:25 PM

forgive my spelling - it might be due to my ignorance and being stupid due to be a fiscal-conservative. I did not vote for any of the Bush clan. In fact, I have never liked him - being from Texas I have some idea to who they are. In fact everyone should be a fiscal-conservative. They would not have to depend on stealing from others.

sorry about the spelling.

We need to clean house. Elect new people with new ideals. The goverment is out of control on spending and give aways. We need to elect Sarah! Someone not afraid to stop all the stupid spending in Washington.

Posted by: Kelly at July 14, 2009 9:48 PM

Sean Hughes...you are right about giving me a hard time for saying "keep it to yourself." As soon as I posted it, I realized that I was wrong to say it. You have every right to say what you want. You say you served your country...maybe it's true. If so, thank you. But you don't have a clue what I have done for my country or my countrymen, so I'll thank you not to bash me.
