VIDEO: Don Meyer Espy Award



Congratulations to Don Meyer for this much deserved recognition of his courageous spirit and perseverance. People in and out of the sports world could learn from his example. See the full video of his speech below, one of many highlights from this year's Espy awards.

for those who don't know, Don Meyer is the head coach for the men's basketball team at Norther State University. He holds the record for most career wins by a coach. Recently he earned respect and admiration from all sports fans, for overcoming a serious car accident, and a cancer diagnosis as well.

"Northern State men's basketball coach Don Meyer was on national television yet again Sunday night as the NCAA's all time winningest men's basketball coach gave his acceptance speech at ESPN's annual ESPY awards. Meyer accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance for his recovery following a September car crash last year that nearly took his life. If that wasn't bad enough, during surgery doctors found out Meyer had cancer in his liver and intestines." source

Coach Meyer is a great man and he deserves this award! I am honored to learn how to coach the game we love from one of the best! Thank you Coach for all you do and see back at the Barnett Center.
