Nicolas Cage: Villain in "Green Hornet", or Not?

Apparently not. There were reports for quite some time that Nicholas Cage had been tapped by Michel Gondry to star as the villain in his version of Green Hornet. But now the latest word is that Cage is dropping out of the project, which has already seen its share of setbacks.

The Green Hornet movie, a remake of the original that co-starred Bruce Lee, has already started filming with Seth Rogan in the lead role, and Jay Chou apparently playing Bruce Lee's old role (if I'm not mistaken this part was originally supposed to go to Stephen Chow, which would have been infinitely cooler).

Not sure what to think about this cast now, but Gondry is one of the most interesting directors around so I'll definitely want to see how this movie comes out.

After months of will he, won't he, Nicolas Cage, who was tipped as the villain in Michel Gondry's 'Green Hornet', has officially declined to play the negative character. Imdb.com reports a source saying that 'the actor and the studio were not able to come to terms on a deal.'

I am glad. I have few heros in my life and Cage's roles have produced the image of one. I don't want to see him in a villain role. It would ruin the movie for me. Maybe when he is older and uglier..maybe.

I think cage is already pretty old and ugly, so he'd make a great villian. It'd be nice to see him get kicked around in a movie, but rather by actors with real talent (unlike him).
Granted, he has stared in some great films. But his droopy lower lip makes me feel like he's going to start drooling, te receeding hairline is just bad, and his facial features are simply awkward. God forbid they make him shirtless in a movie!

'notsocage', jesus, if you spoke about a female actor that disgracefully judgementally you would be strung up. Your attitude is disgusting.
