Pole Dance Doll! (Gizmodo Report)

We've seen lots of crazy toys over the years, but would you believe a strip club dancing doll, complete with stripper pole?

As seen in the photo in the gizmodo article below, this pole dancer doll seems to be an actual kids' toy, with a somewhat creepy looking doll with oddly shaped legs clinging to a pole, promising on the box to go "up and down" and "around and round" with "music, flash and style."

It's difficult to believe somebody actually thought a pole dance stripper doll was a good idea for kids.. maybe they thought it would be a good joke gift for grownups? Either way, between this and the Miley Cyrus performance last month, you may want to have a talk with your kids about not putting on the clear heels.

It rotates. It has blinking lights, a disco ball, and a pole. And it's probably one of the wrongest toys you can give to any girl. Because, unlike the USB Pole Dancer, this pole dance doll is actually for kids.

THAT IS JUST WRONG. I HAVE A 5 YEAR OLD GRANDAUGHTER & I CERTAINLY WOULD NOT WANT HER TO HAVE THAT. ISN'T THERE ENOUGH GARBAGE OUT THERE FOR CHILDREN TO SEE?

Posted by: BARB at September 2, 2009 4:36 PM

This is great--my daughter can aspire to become someone who makes 5 times what I make per year. Thank God I got rid of all my values and my moral compass was pawned last month to pay the rent...

Posted by: Rick Sermon at September 2, 2009 4:52 PM

Why is everyone getting all up tight? Its just a doll. Its not telling little girls to grow up and be strippes. A doll is a doll. Dancing is an art. Not all dancers are bad people, their human too.

Posted by: Samantha at September 2, 2009 4:56 PM

Samantha you must be a stripper. yes i commented on the other story too. if you have a daughter, would you let her have or play with this doll?

Posted by: Samantha is here too at September 2, 2009 5:40 PM

Why do we want to keep Miley Cyrus as a five or ten year old chold. She is not a child, she is an adult and to many parents forget they also got older and enjoyed their life. Let Miley Cyrus enjoy her life.
As far as the doll, you see what you want to see. What does your five year old see, NOT WHAT YOU SEE, but what does the child see.

Posted by: marvin at September 2, 2009 5:46 PM

Personally, I think yall need to grow some sensitivety. Samantha, I agree wit you though. So what if its a stripper, what do you want yo kids growin' up to be, a single mother like some of yall probably are.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 2, 2009 6:23 PM

So anonymous, are you putting down single mothers? Are you saying that if someone's husband died in the war, that there is shame in the fact that a mother is trying to raise her kid alone?

Posted by: Tsak at September 2, 2009 6:57 PM

Marvin - you seem to be a little confused... Miley Cyrus is NOT an adult, she is a 16 year old minor, who is a role model to children who watch her Disney channel show. As far as the comment that a child doesn't "see" what an adult would see when looking at that toy, my child should not see that toy at all.

Posted by: k at September 2, 2009 8:01 PM

Man you guys should listen to yourselves! Let me try and cover everything above. So no Miley Cyrus is not an adult and as long as she is one the disney channel she should probably think before she makes decisions such as dancing on a pole at the TEEN Choice awards(meaning teens are watching). My 4 year old and my 8 year old watch her on TV. That is not setting a good example for little girls such as them. Sure my little girls might not understand what a stripper pole is, but that just goes with everything else that they don't understand. It is our job as parents to teach them right from wrong. In my opinion strippers do not show self respect. I was a single mom for four years. Young, good looking. Never would I degrade myself to make money to support my children in that manner. There are plenty of other jobs out there, they just take that extra work to find. Single mothers are amazing they deserve a standing ovation for what they do to provide for their family!

Come on everybody, the first thing we need to look at is the society that we are living in. Our society wants us to except everything that it throws at us whether it be Miley Cyrus or the pole dancing doll. We as a collective group of parents and adults are the ones that are responsible for what our children take in their minds. If our children see that we have no concern or problem with these things, then they in turn they will think that it is alright for them as well. I've made sure that Miley Cyrus or any other person on Disney is not my child's role model, they have no right to be, but I do. So in order for that to be I have to always be careful of what "I" take in. We are living in a society where everything is about sex and if our children see that we may have a interest in TV shows or music that promote these things then they won't even resist when they are approached or introduce to it. The love that we have for us children should be the same love that we have for ourselves. In order to keep our children clean we have to continue to clean ourselves even if that may be resisting things that we may tell things that we tell them is "FOR GROWN FOLKS" By doing this when we see things like the pole dancing dolls or the young male and female so-called role models involved in crazy situations we won't feel like our children are threatened.

Posted by: Robert at September 2, 2009 9:04 PM

The people who think this doll, and a 16 year old Miley Cyrus on a strippers pole, is ok and no big deal and "just a doll" make me very very sad. It just reminds me of the state of our over sexed society. Being sexually healthy doesn't mean being sexually exploitive. Whatever happend to words like dignity, integrity, and self respect? Whatever happend to innocense in childhood? All of the people, like me, who are appalled that a 16 year old girl who represents Disney and who's audience is made up of children, would expose her bra and swing around on a stripper pole, have to remember that people like Miley Cyrus are not really role models. She is a 17 year old girl who just wants to prove herself and be popular and is self absorbed in her own image. And to Disney, she's a money-maker. So, no one really cares whether her image is good for children, teenage girls, or women in general. We have to stop pretending that famous people are anybody's role model. Sex, power, money, and popularity are this country's values now. And, for anyone who thinks that I need to lighten up and that Miley Cyrus and stripper dolls are no big deal- you're ignorant.

Posted by: Cate at September 2, 2009 10:10 PM

Well! If this works? I am sure soon there will baby gay dolls, and baby satan worshipper dolls! Or before the fad is over? How about a "cut myself" bleeding emo doll?
This would be perfect! Then everyone will be desensitized to the pole dancing doll!
It's de-evolution baby!

Posted by: Steve Weiss at September 2, 2009 10:12 PM

How about a "cut myself" bleeding emo doll?

hahahaa.. Awesome.. I kinda believe in the "talk to your kids about what they see"... At the rate our society is going, most of your girls are going to become strippers because their daddy's are deadbeats..

lol.. "My Gay buddy and Me!" haha... man now that would be hilarious.

Posted by: Chris at September 2, 2009 10:15 PM

Steve Weiss, I love the term "de-evolution"

What about the "lose your virginity at age 11" doll?

I like the "talk to your kids" idea too. There's really no other choice.

Posted by: cate at September 2, 2009 11:07 PM

What about the "I only have value because you think I'm sexy" doll?

Posted by: cate at September 2, 2009 11:10 PM

Child porn is against the law. Anything else is protected under the Constitution as freedom of speech, thought, or expression. TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WHAT YOU WANT AND TRY TO IMPART THE VALUES YOU WANT. Otherwise, mind your own business. We do not legislate morality in this country, only laws.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 3, 2009 12:01 AM

Does it come wiyh tiny $$$$$$$$$$$ so I can show my son how to stuff a "G"-string?

Posted by: Anonymous at September 3, 2009 12:32 AM

Geez. It really IS no big deal if you know how to parent.

If you parent your children CORRECTLY (you know, talk to them about sex, let them know what you will and will not accept in your household, let them know what is right and wrong) then you have nothing to worry about.

Worried about this doll? Well tell your kids about it and tell them you do NOT want them playing with the doll at all. Tell them WHY and don't sugarcoat it if they're old enough to understand (10 and up). That way, they'll feel that you respect them enough to treat them like an adult (if they're in their tweens) and you'll give them the rules.

Of course, if you try to censor everything and ignore the "tough situations" (sex, drugs... etc) from your child, then they'll just rebel against you later and you'll regret it.

(from the Anonymous that posted just a few moments ago)

Oh and for those who are talking down about strippers: Shut it.

In these crappy times, people have to try hard to get money for themselves and their families. They may not WANT to do it, but they may not have a choice. So really, be quiet. You have no idea what their family life is like for them to have to do such a thing just to get money.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 3, 2009 12:40 AM

Poop. I like scat.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 3, 2009 1:51 AM

You can really tell the strippers post! And as for their comments about not wanting to do the job they are doing, times are hard for all right now but we fight through them and not by setting the example that we would do just about anything for a dollar. And some of you, read what you wrote for goodness sake, the majority of you need to take a US history course and it doesn't even have to be a college one. this nation has become so sex, appearence, self-centered etc. crazed. we need to wake up and see we are destroying the chance of any hope that are children can dream of becoming something great in their lifetime. So yes it does matter they somebody thinks it's ok to create and sell a stripper babydoll... I cannot believe i just wrote that.

Posted by: irrelevant at September 3, 2009 2:15 AM

thats funny

Posted by: boron at September 3, 2009 2:24 AM

irrelevant: Haha... so if I defend someone's job, it automatically means I do that job myself? I love the "logic" that armchair experts have.

If there's anyone who needs to "wake up" here, it's you. The United States is not as sex crazed as you think it is. Stop paying attention to the sexual stuff and you'll see that not EVERYTHING is based around the genitalia. Yes, sex sells and it always has. Have a problem? Tough. It's like that everywhere in the world.

There is NOTHING wrong with loving your appearance or liking sex appeal.

And no, it doesn't matter because it obviously won't sell anyway. It was most likely made as joke gag and all this arguing is nothing more than publicity for them.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 3, 2009 3:18 AM

Don't get mad at me because your a dead beat so your wife has to go out and be a stripper to support you. And oh did you call me out i like my lazyboy its comfy. however you were right about one thing, it probably is just a gag: a joke if you will. And talking about armchair experts what about your two cent logic, i never said anything about having a good appearance, being an expert about anything, or even having a problem.

Posted by: irrelevant at September 3, 2009 4:44 AM

You DO have a problem with it if you have to come and cause drama, about how the country is sex-based and all this crap over a damn doll.

Also, you're the definition of an ignorant Internet user who makes assumptions. I'm a 22 year old male who is unmarried. The people in my generation won't necessarily get a job after they graduate college because of the crappy economy and how people perceive college students to be. How old are you? 40? 50? God, please tell me you're not, I'd expect more class and knowledge from someone of your age.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 3, 2009 12:17 PM

I DONT THINK ANY ONE IN THERE RIGHT MIND WOULD BUY THE DOLLS ANYWAY ...AT LEAST IF YOU WANT TO PROTECT THE MINDS OF YOUR TODDLER AGE CHILDREN- OF COURSE THEY WONT SEE IT THE WAYS ADULTS SEE IT THERE MINDS ARE PURE. I EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO MY CHILDREN EVEN THE THINGS I DONT FEEL THEY SHOULD KNOW RIGHT NOW BUT I DO. IF I WERE ASKED ABOUT THIS DOLL I WOULD TELL THEM ITS A STRIPPER DOLL AND A STRIPPER GETS NAKED IN FRONT OF PEOPLE AND TAKE THERE CLOTHES OFF TO EARN MONEY-BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO GET OUT THERE AND FIND A REPUTABLE JOB AND THATS THE WAY THEY WANT TO EARN A BUK!

>IF THEY ASK I WILL TELL THEM A TRUTHFUL AND HONEST ANSWER WE ARE VERY OPEN WITH EACH OTHER AND I WOULD NEVER BEAT AROUND THE BUSH WITH ANYTHING IN REGARDS TO THEM LEARNING ABOUT THINGS BUT OUR JOBS AS PARENTS ARE TO TEACH THEM WHATS MORALLY RIGHT AND ETHICAL- SURE I CAN SEE PARENTS WORKING THERE SHAKIN THERE BACKSIDE FOR A BUK WHEN THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER OPTION... BUT LOOK AROUND PEOPLE...ITS A QUICK BUK!!! DO IT THE RIGHT WAY. HELL MCDONALDS PAYS MORE THAN MINIMUM WAGE WHERE I AM FROM- THERE IS ALWAYS A JOB OPEN FOR SOME ONE WHO REALLY NEEDS ONE AND IF YOU DO YOU WILL FIND IT, IT MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU WANT BUT YOU DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO PROVIDE FOR YOUR CHILDREN...WHOA! I GOT WAY SIDETRACKED AS FAR AS THE DOLL I DONT THINK ITS APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN...

To the poster who said to mind our own business because we don't legislate morality. No one ever said anything about legislation or government. But we have every right on a blog to express our concern. If everyone was like you, and just minded their own business instead of trying to stand up for their own principles and morals, think how bad off our society would be then. What would the purpose of morality be? There would be none.

I suggest that anyone blogging or reading this blog read "Female Chauvenist Pigs: The Rise of Raunch Culture in the United States". Some of you need to be educated on sex and women's issues, and what images like these can do to our psyche over long periods of time. Like I said before, a lot of you are ignorant.

Posted by: cate at September 3, 2009 5:13 PM

this country actually has a schezophrenic attitude towrd sex. On one hand we're saturated with sex everywhere, but when it comes to education, pregnancy prevention, sex education, etc. We become victorian era prudes,

When my children play with their dolls they are pretending that they are that doll. For example, when my daughter plays with her Ariel doll, she pretends to be a mermaid. When she plays with her Tinkerbell doll, she pretends to be a fairy. So logiacally thinking, when a child plays with a stripper doll they WILL pretend to be a stripper. People who take their clothes off for money need not be glamourized to children. In this society we need our kids to aspire to professions that will empower them, not jobs like stripping, where you are oogled by horny men stepping out on their wives. Stripping in no way as it is done in America is intended to be an art. Get real people, you are fooling only yourselves.

Consider the fact that you don't have to buy this doll for your child. I think the doll is sleezey and wouldn't buy it but for all the people who want one for their child, go for it. It's not my job to raise your children. As long as a parent has put the time in to give their child good moral values and self respect I don't think a doll is going to change what they have been taught.

Posted by: Darla at September 5, 2009 11:45 AM

It is a very morally wrong for such a doll to be made for children, or made at all. Any one that thinks it is ok need to sit down and read the Bible.

Posted by: Patty at September 5, 2009 11:49 AM

The only people who know that Miley Cyrus and the doll are acting like strippers are people who have seen strippers. Wake up and smarten up people, if you don't like the "stripper like" doll then DON'T BUY THE DOLL!!!!! Same with teen idols, if you don't like the message that Miley Cyrus is sending your kids, DON'T LET THEM WATCH!!!!!!

Where does it say in any way shape or form that this is a stripper doll? It's got a dress on and dances around a pole. You've seen this in countless musicals. you people need help.

Posted by: fge00 at September 5, 2009 2:17 PM

To teach your children morality and Ethicics vauies is good I tought mine that also,I raised three children to be honest, not steal, and not to go around having sex. They knew about the desaes you can get. They were also tought respect of Country and other people. To day you arn't just fighting to teach them but the other people. The new's is full of sex, books and magzines. you find 10 and 11 year old children having sex, because they think it is the thing to do. Learn from other kids in school. Parents let them put on a lot of make up,dress where half of their body shows. They cause out their parents with words they need their mouths washed out with soap. Most of them have no respect for their parents. Think about it. This is true I have seen it.Go into a store with parents with a ton of make up on and hip huggers and short tops. A boy of twenty think these 13 and14 year old girls are 18 or 20. so make moves on them and they start flirting, with parent there. Then laugh about it later. Sneak out of house at night , have sex, steal if can't get what they want. We need to turn the country around and really I am not a prude, but have seen so much of this and 13 and 14 year old girls having babies.I can remember fighting when my children were young in Calif. to have magzines with sex on covers and in them put up high where the little ones couldn't reach and hopefully in the back where they had to ask for them.In our town we did get that. so not only do we have to teach them right from wrong we have to take these things away, or at least moderate them for them. and no If a person wants to be a pole dancer that is fine they don't strip all the way down and it is a form of art, but not for children.Monitor who your children go with as friends have a strong influence on them. 4 letter words are not for them to use as everyday language. Neither is cusing out their parents.

Posted by: Mary at September 5, 2009 2:35 PM

Your English and grammar is awful. I struggle to believe that some of you have children as you are as inarticulate and have the vocabulary and literacy capability of five year olds.
eg desaes, sleezey and profeshions. Please start remembering these things from primary school as at the moment the parents amongst you are already setting poor examples for your children and also giving the rest of the world reading this ammunition to say "American people are stupid". Just don't be that person.

P.S. There is a difference between single parents refusing to work because the welfare state pays out more than a full time job would and a widow/er. There should be a time limit imposed on benefits, there is only so long that you can claim that you are looking for a job

Posted by: A.Non at September 5, 2009 8:08 PM

I know what will happen with this doll. While you all talk about morality and keeping the kids safe, some dudes will be rushing out to buy this doll. They will take it home, STRIP it, and watch it dance. Never thought of that, did you? Joking, but it will happen. No, not me.

Posted by: Oldwriterguy at September 5, 2009 10:48 PM

When we were kids we weren't allowed to say darn. Not look at what the kids say every day. They learn it at school and at home. But parents don't want their kids to be disciplined and teachers aren't paid enough to worry about it. Why not a pole dancing doll, alot of these kids will end up doing alot worse. Parents need to be parents first, friends second. Don't buy the doll and if your child asks why not sit down and tell them why not. Don't argue with them or put it out there for discussion.

Posted by: Margaret Green at September 5, 2009 11:09 PM

FIRST LET ME SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER BEEN A STRIPPER..WHILE I DO THINK THE DOLL IS JUST ANOTHER STEP IN THE WRONG DIRECTION FOR KIDS, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING A STRIPPER. SOME PEOPLE ARE PROUD OF THEIR BODIES OR NOT SHY ABOUT SHOWING THEM OFF. I SHOW NO NEGATIVE JUDGEMENT TO THEM. I THINK THAT THOSE THAT DO ARE EITHER INSECURE MEN OR FAT WOMEN WHO ARE JEALOUS OF THEM AND THE FACT THAT THEIR HUSBANDS MAY GO AN WATCH THEM..

Posted by: ERICA at September 6, 2009 3:28 AM

Erica, I agree that this doll is another step in the wrong direction for children, but I am not jealous of strippers. I am not a fat woman, I am a personal trainer and a nursing student and I know rite from wrong. It is a positive thing to be proud of your body but there are other ways to show it other than exposing the body to a numerous amount of disrespectful men. I believe that if every decient parent would not purchase such a doll, it wont last on the market for long.
