Student Killed Intruder With This?

As seen in this video below, a student at Johns Hopkins University reportedly killed an intruder...with a samurai sword!

According to police the man died at the scene, after the young student found him in the garage and was attacked by the man after telling him he was calling the police.

It's always sad for a human being to lose their life, but if the student's description of what happened is accurate it's hard to say he doesn't have a chance to defend himself inside his own home, even if it was done in an unusual way. According to the article below, authorities go on a case by case basis when deciding whether to press charges in cases like this, so we'll have to see whether they consider this a justified killing.

okay, seriously jose?
in that kind of sutiation, it's either you or the other person.
forget that 'gods work' line...i don't care who you are, if you have to choose between you or some intruder to life, you're going to pick yourself.

the intruder had no business in the house. He shouldn't have gambled w/his life.

why noth the guy was a criminal who knew the difference between right and wrong, the student defended himself and his property, the criminal commited suicide the day he thought it was a good idea to go out and break into some one else's house! A great expression of higher learning,I huess he won't be passing this class

if you value your life, stay the hell out of other people's houses. PERIOD. sorry jose, but your bible thumpin' logic doesn't apply and I hope you wouldn't be dumb enough to wait for God to save you in a situation like that.

jose if you want to put god into this he gives you free will and the choice do what you have to do in situations like the logic of self preservation come into question. that guy would have killed him. do you think that he's in heaven he broke one of the ten commandments thy shall not steal.

he absoulutly did the right thing, it doesnt matter what weapon you use, you have the right to defend yourself if someone is breaking in your house i sleep with my 9mm and my wife a 357

i dont know what happened to put him into this situation but i think that what he did was something that he had to do...the intruder should have never went on to his property and steal things...that was a gamble for his life and he got the wrong end of it and now he is dead...im not gunna say well done or good job to the victim because he did take a life..but he shouldnt be punished for defending himself in the predicament that he was put in

actually the law states that, it isnt self defense because i think the burglar doesnt have a weapon...

-tfindlay- you are a moron you were not there you do not know what happened. The intruder did not have to have a weapon. Accosted means physically touched (or in this case assualted in some manner) if the victim (the student who defended himself) felt like his life could be in danger he had every right to defend himself however he felt neccessary it doesnt matter if the criminal who knowlingy broke into this mans house was armed or not this isnt an issue of a man putting landmines in a cornfield or boobytrapping a shed he was defending himself against a home invasion and a personal attack go toot your retard horn somewhere else

I agree that if what we are being told is in fact the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, the man had every right to take out the fool who intruded into his castle. There is nothing worse than an uninvited guest.

Of course, a proper investigation should have been conducted to ensure that this "defense" killing wasn't a ruse motivated by some other set of circumstances. Perhaps the wrong individual was taken out.

Definately did the right thing. There is no excuse for being in someone else's house, taking their things. Plus, he didn't strike intending to kill, he struck intending to defend himself. I say GOOD FOR HIM!!!!
