Fake Security Software in Millions of Computers

According to a new study by Symantec, your computer could be one of tens of millions that are infested with fake security software.

Many of the most common and most malicious bits of malicious software, whether viruses spyware or other malware, are foolishly put on home computers voluntarily by web surfers who think they are getting an offer for new antvirus software or some other sort of new security software. Typically a window pops up and shouts at you that your computer is infected somehow, and then invites you to click for a free download of some new program that will save you from evil malware. But this supposed saviour is actually the software you need saving from!

In order to avoid this tricky cyber trap of fake security software, that has already ruined millions of computers worldwide, you are advised not to download anything that just pops up like hat, and only download from verified reliable sites that you already researched. And don't let official sounding names like "officialantiviruspro" suck you in. And when in doubt: always google things first!
