Garth Brooks Announces He's Coming Out of Retirement Thursday

Garth Brooks has great news for all his friends in low places: Thursday Garth announced he's coming out of retirement once again!

The Country music superstar has been retired since 2000, popping up only on rare occasions for small music events. but in a press conference in Nashville Brooks said he was coming back full steam as a recording artist. His spokespeople said he is not planning a full concert tour, so it remains to be seen if coming out retirement just means a new album and maybe a smaller number of shows. Whatever Garth Brooks does, .we look forward to seeing it!

UPDATE: More info is coming out, and it looks like Garth Brooks will be taking up a residency in Las Vegas for an extended run of concerts there. The report is he will do a 16-week concert run at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas.

SECOND UPDATE: Okay here's the full official scoop, from Garth Brooks' second press conference Thursday afternoon: Garth brooks is coming out of retirement for a 5 year run of concerts at the Encore Theater in Las Vegas's Wynn Casino. They will be weekend-only shows, and only for 15 weekends out of each year, so Garth can still spend time with his family. The concert tickets will be $125. so there you have it!

maybe him and Brett Farve could get together on staying retired. If they announce they are retiring stay retired, why don't these people just state they are taking a break and may be back, this retirement thing is getting old.

Posted by: NORMA HOLIEN at October 15, 2009 5:41 PM

yeah!!! Geore may be "real"country, but Garth is not only country, he is and entertainer and perfromer and has done MORE for music around the world than most of the others, he quietly donates to charities etc. He IS country!

First of all, for all of those who say he should have stayed retired, he was never retired. He took a break from recording and touring to raise his kids and spend time with his family. He said from the beginning that we was going to be on a break until his family was ready for him to continue with his career. He was never retired.

Posted by: ScottWS at October 15, 2009 5:45 PM

Don't even compare Garth to Brett Farve...... Garth kept his word......he said he was retiring until his girls were grown.......He and George Strait are the best......Garth always said he was A George Strait wanna be..........WELCOME BACK GARTH....COUNTRY MUSIC HAS MISSED YOU

Hell yes,he's coming back. And the music world will be better off because he has returned. I don't care what other people say. He is not only real country, but also a true gentleman. I have every cassette,cd's and dvd's he has ever released. And God willing I will someday get to meet him in person. I am one of many of his loyal fans.

Any thing Garth does is special, and he fits in everywhere because of his warm and caring heart. A real Daddy to his girls, and respectful hubby to his wife. We love you Garth and it's about time!!!

Posted by: Pam Martin at October 15, 2009 5:49 PM

Are you kidding me?!! Garth is the KING of country. God Bless George and all the rest, but reality is Garth will always reign!

How can you say a man that puts his home/family before his outstanding career sucks?

God Bless Garth for being man enough to love his wife and daughters!

We knew you would be back Garth!! We love you!!!!

Posted by: CA Blonde at October 15, 2009 5:49 PM

If any of you paid attention, you would remember that Garth went into retirement so he could be home with his CHILDREN while they were growing up. He didnt want to be an absentee father. His limited return to music is for the same reason, he wants to be there for his kids but Im sure he misses performing and recording as much as we have missed seeing and hearing from him. If you cant say something nice, dont say anything!

Posted by: Judy at October 15, 2009 5:51 PM

Maybe he can get his fat wife off of the couch to sing with him?

Posted by: Joe at October 15, 2009 5:51 PM

Too bad. After his cheating on his first wife, wooing her back and having another child with her, he cheats on her again, leaves her for fatty Yearwood (she cheated too)and now wants us to be happy that he's coming back to show business? I'd be happier reading his obituary.

Posted by: MO at October 15, 2009 5:52 PM

Are you kidding? He is just another cheating husband. STAY RETIRED, we don't need you

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 5:53 PM

YES!!!!!!!! My prayers have been answered! I will pay whatever and go wherever to go see him. It'll be a gift I give myself (my personal Bucket List). Just hope I'm given enough time to buy a ticket before they're sold out. Will travel anywhere in Texas to hear/see him. What a treat. I'm stoked.

Posted by: txpinkhardhat at October 15, 2009 5:54 PM

He had some pretty good songs, but never enjoyed watching his performances.

Posted by: Susie at October 15, 2009 5:54 PM

He retired so he wouldn't have to pay his first wife more alimony.

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 5:55 PM

Hey,I dont care what anyone says Garth Brooks wasn't entertainer of the year all those years for nothing. He can come back whenever he wants to. He said he was going to come back when his kids were grown up and now they are and now he's back.Way to go Garth! I will be there to support you if you come to Seattle. Much love, Heather

Posted by: heather at October 15, 2009 5:56 PM

Garth, Welcome back, Looking forward to the new Garth, And what he has to say in hes new song's. with all that time off, I am sure he has a lot of good things to sing about!!! Can't wait to hear what you have to say Garth, Much love to you and your's Randy.

Posted by: Randy McChesney at October 15, 2009 5:59 PM

Who the heck cares? I sure don't. I know he's sold millions of records, but so has Britney Spears. Stay retired, Garth. So many better male country singers I listen to now.

Posted by: nerray at October 15, 2009 5:59 PM

Who gives a S--T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Ken Thornton at October 15, 2009 6:00 PM

I have been waiting for his come back I only hope I can make it to one of his shows

Posted by: delores at October 15, 2009 6:00 PM

Maybe some of you less informed morons should research a bit before opening your mouth. Garth went into retirement in 2000 to raise his children that he had with Sandy and gained custody of when they divorced. There can be no more noble thing than to give up what you love doing to stay home and be there for your children 100% of the time. Especially when you are at the top of your field, which he was when he stepped away in 2000. He has since been doing a hand full of benefits and charity work with MLB, while being there EVERYDAY to take his girls to school and pick them up from school and all their activities. I wish I could do that. So again know what your saying before you say it!

Posted by: Tom at October 15, 2009 6:00 PM

The hell with Garth. When is Chris Gaines coming out of retirement?

Posted by: Vic Nardozza at October 15, 2009 6:01 PM

Garth is history he had no staying power. You don't even hear his music on teh radio since he left but you sure hear Gearoge Jones, Merle Hagard, Conwat Twitty, Hank Jr and Sr Randy Travis and all the greats. But not one of his songs ha dthat staying power of a great song that last forever. Anyone that compares this guy to George Strait is an idiot and odes not know country music or music at all. Strait has over 51 number one songs give me a break this guy does not even deserve to be spoken of in the same sentence. Gearge Strait is teh King of country music he became king when George Jones stopped performing like before. And if you remember Garth tried this about two years ago with Wal Mart and a new CD and it flopped and he will flop again. He is a has been and will never be agian. That is why he used the kids ecuse the firts time to retire. Nobody retires out of music they just go away because they loose the ability to sale CD and that is what happened to him. So this will be the last you read of his big come back. He is done. BYE!

Posted by: dh at October 15, 2009 6:02 PM

WELCOME BACK Big Guy! Have missed you and your music terribly. Looking forward to a Vegas trip to see you there. Pay no attention to the "fair weather" fans. They're not worth it.

Posted by: Brenda at October 15, 2009 6:03 PM

Tom.......maybe you should be more informed. HE IS A CHEATER!!!!

It's easy to give to charity when you have millions and making more every day. Do you live with him? You don't know what he does every day. He got custody cause he has MONEY.

Easy to be a stay-at-home dad when you have money. Got it yet?????

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 6:05 PM

garth is a cheater and a male ho,will NEVER buy his stuff again,George on the other hand is real county, love him puts garth to shame.

Tell the cheating slug to stay retired and stay home with his cheating wife. No one cares anymore about him!

Posted by: anonymous at October 15, 2009 6:13 PM

I didnt even know he went into retirement. Personally I think there are better country singers - Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, there are more I just cant think of their names off the top of my head.

Posted by: eskimopie20 at October 15, 2009 6:14 PM

Garth must be broke and it's time to go to work.I hope his past fans still have their memory. I did like his song ...killing time....haha

Posted by: poppop at October 15, 2009 6:15 PM

If you do not care, than why are you writing. Apparently you care more than you would like everyone to think or you would not have put so much effort into voicing your displeasure. As for me, I wish very much to see him on stage one day, as I am a huge fan.

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 6:17 PM

I never saw him in concert, but I certainly wanted to. Maybe this time I will. As for not hearing his music on country stations, don't know what you listen to, but I hear them. Try another station. Welcome back Garth, PJ

For those who say only negative things, who don't really know the personnal facts of his life, Get a life! Were you there in his home, life to really know what happened between him and Sandy. NO! He did the manly thing-was around for his kids. Can you all say that, probably not!
Welcome Back Garth!

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 6:18 PM

Shoulda done the manly thing and got a divorce before he started sleeping with Yearwood. What a great Dad!!!

Yep.......I stayed at home with my kids too. None of your business, but I did.

Garth brooks is avery good country singer, but we have so many good country singers no know one has the right to say one singer is better then an other. Ilove all singers for doing what most people can't do.But love to critize when the don,t do anything in thier own lives.

I was lucky enough to see him in concert in KC in 2007 with my then 28 year old daughter. He was to only give 1 concert, but there were so many who wanted to see him that he expanded it to 9(I think that is the number). If you were lucky enough to get a ticket to those concerts thru TicketMaster, they were $25 per ticket, no matter what seat. But, we weren't lucky enough. We still only paid $65 each & that is a piddly amount based on his talent! I'm not really a country fan, but his music makes me a fan of his. I do like Reba, Taylor Swift, Shania & Dixie Chicks(go ahead, flame me, I don't care, I do like them). He never said he was totally retiring. So do NOT compare him to cry baby Bret Favre. Ick! He wanted to take time off to enjoy his kids. Good for him!
Welcome back, my friend. We have missed you!

Gath..UGH, Yearwood...UGH. Guess it's a good thing he will be in one place and not touring, should be easy for her to check up on him. They toured together and cheated. I have zero respect for cheaters and never liked his music after the first couple of years. Does anyone remember his video with him in that black wig..country nope. Give me Alan, George, Brooks & Dunn, anyone but Garth.

IMHO
George Strait is a fantastic singer so is Garth Brooks. Each gentleman has dfferent styles. I do not understand the negativity toward each other in the postings. We each have an opinion and should be allowed to express it in whatever manner we wish "like they say opinions are like A-holes everyone has one. I personally hope he does well. As I wish many persons singing out there in "country dance-clubs" could get a chance to maybe make it some day....because there are many very tallented ones around.Save your slander and abuse for someone that really cares for your opinion. He is honerable in the way he has taken care of his children, now maybe he has found a way to have his music and children at the same time without being away so long doing tours.

It doesn't change the fact that he is a very talented person. If you don't like him, just don't say anything. Didn't your mother ever tell you if you can't say anything nice, just don't say anything at all. WELCOME BACK, GARTH!!!! YOUR TRUE FANS LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Sharon at October 15, 2009 6:54 PM

Havent really ever missed him And was unaware that he'd retired. Great idea, been thinking about it my self. I never liked country music so it wont really make any difference what Garth and Wynn do, whatever it is it'll be a loser. I was in Vegas in late August it seem to be dead in the water at that time , maybe Brooks will revive it or sink with it. At any rate I'll keep my $125 in my pocket unless I lose it at the Blackjack tables, Adios Garth.

Garth, i hope you cut-out the high school stuff and STOP BREAKING GUITARS in public.

If you can't get a good tune out of the guitar...don't blame the guitar...look in the mirror and grow up already.

good luck

Way to bash someone in the public spot light!!! You think he is the only person to cheat on his wife? Tabloid press keeps the world moving. Don't believe everything you read. I was on the Garth bandwagon in the early 90's even went to see him. GREAT concert at Cheyenne!!!!!!!!! Other posts have bashed him about being broke....so what how many have lost their jobs in america!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep on what you're doing Garth there are many fans out here that are excited you have come back.

Posted by: cb at October 15, 2009 6:57 PM

So you don't like the man?! Well, thats' you're choice, but then I'm sure there are plenty of those out there who don't like the people who have to post derrogatory responses either!
Just be quiet...and remember that if you can't say anything nice about someone, then say nothing.
I have much more respect for him, than I do YOU!

Pueblo's number one county performer. He is truly
an entertainer and you will be entertained. Pueblo will always remember Garth!

Posted by: Nancy Bonner at October 15, 2009 6:57 PM

Now in reading not about Garth himself but the crude and very rude comments I can think and will that most of you are what they say, 'pot calling the kettle black.' Before you go on to judge/criticize others go look in the mirror first. No one in this world is perfect and we all make mistakes but as for Garth, he's done alot of good and like any other star they've done no different then any other human being.

Posted by: Michael at October 15, 2009 6:57 PM

Don't you idiots get it? We have just as much right to talk as you.
We have the right to hate him even if it is for personal reasons. Free country right?

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 6:58 PM

For those writing negative remarks about the Master Garth B. let me tell you a bit of history. Garth has been involved in a great cause for the past few years helping sick children in the USA. He donates all proceeds from the concerts and invites lots of athletes to help out. He gives every penny he earns from all concerts/events.
He is a great human being and the most giving of all Country Stars.
There you have it, please refrain from any negative remarsks, if you don't know what you are talking about.
Garth Las Vegas loves you, and Caesars too.

Posted by: Gerard at October 15, 2009 6:59 PM

Wow, good thing God doesn't judge as incredibly harsh as you people.
This is an HONORABLE man who by the by won ENTERTAINER OF THE DECADE in the 90's.

People, I'd hate to know anyone that is as cruel and negative and pray nothing bad or compromising ever happens to you because you cruel people will get back what you give out....be careful.....
Garth, you are a class act and will always have my unwavering respect and I LOVE YOUR MUSIC....YIPPEE

God will judge alright. Look up the sixth commandment.

I think if u don't have anything good 2 say about the guy, get 2 steppin... He was, is and always will be the King of Country, bar none! So he left his wife.... Does that have anything 2 do with his music? Or better yet, does it have anything 2 do with u? I bet your closet is full of skeletons. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone! I think it's funny how people will go out of their way 2 slander someone else when they should be looking in the mirror and making some changes of their own. Peace out, haters! Welcome Back Garth....We fans love and respect what you did 4 your family.......

Posted by: Jay at October 15, 2009 7:12 PM

You can't compare Garth to George, or Allen, or Kenny or anyone. Country is Country & they are all great, simply because the sing about all of us. If you listen to any of "their" music, it touches someone, in someway. That ole Chevy truck, or kickin your dog stuff is soo old it's ridiculous. If you ain't a little country, you ain't American.

Posted by: DR at October 15, 2009 7:14 PM

Again.....free country.

My closet is empty. Am I perfect? Course not, but I never cheated on my spouse.

Funny how none of you really KNOW Garth Brooks, but think he is next to God. Money talks folks, and he thinks it will ease his guilty conscience.

If you just want your OWN opinion, then you shouldn't be here. Go look in the mirror yourself.

i was at fanfare '97 when he signed autographs for 24' straight. i waited 7 hrs. he treated eveyone like they were family.
his regular concert tickets were always cheaper than other stars. i'd pay the money to see him in vegas. i paid more than that to see celine at ceasar's palace.

Jealous/understand?

I would not say we worship Garth, I would say we have respect for a man who did leave to raise his daughter's.

There was even an interview with him about how he was making Dad's all over aware of how important it was to give them their car at 16 so when dirt bag boys try to cross the line, they can run on home to him!

Money, sure it is important to some degree, but HE AND HIS WIFE ARE NATURAL BORN PERFORMERS!

Respect or worship? The only one I worship is GOD!

Posted by: Richard's Mentor at October 15, 2009 7:35 PM

Anybody who talks trash about Garth Brooks either has no musical or writing ability or no clue on what type of contribution the man made to country music. Country music was on life support in the early 90's and he brought it back.

Anyone citing George Strait also needs to know that they are very good friends and have mutual respect for each other. Same with Brooks and Dunn.

I AWOKE ONE MORNING YEARS BACK. AND YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS GUY WAS THE NEXT ELVIS PRESLEY. IT WAS LIKE AN HOOP-LAH OVERNIGHT WONDER....AND HE'S AN INSTANT STAR. I AGREE TOO, THAT HE SUCKS. DO YOU ALL REMEMBER WHEN HE RETIRED THE FIRST TIME AND SAID - "I HAVE MADE ENOUGH MONEY TO LAST MY KIDS, KIDS, KIDS.....SO - SEE YUL-ALL LATER, I'M RETIRE-RIN". WELL HIS AGENT ABOUT FLIPPED, AND TOLD HIM WHAT ABOUT YOUR FANS? "OH IT'S NO MATTER, THEY HAVE ALL MY ABLEMS THEY CAN BUY"! HOWEVER, THE AGENT EXPLAINED TO HIM THE MEANING OF DEDICATION. SO AFTER A FEW HOURS OF PRACTICE BROOKS WAS ABLE TO FINALLY SPELL THE WORD, AND DECIDED TO STICK AROUND FOR A WHILE.

GEE! I DIDN'T REALIZE HE SNUCK OUT AGAIN. HE MUST BE BACK SO HE CAN BUY ANOTHER PLACE AND THE FAMILY HAD MORE KIDS.

WHAT A TRUE KNUCKEL-HEAD AND JACKAS_ THIS GARTH BOOKZ IZZZ......HE CAN STAY RETIRED.

Posted by: MDanielson at October 15, 2009 7:43 PM

Clarification for those who can't combine 2 thoughts. BEING HONORABLE is great enough by his charity generosity to all. The Entertainer of the Decade - proves he's SOLID.& then some !!!!!!

More importantly I NEVER comment about anything that I am not passionate about. If you dislike him so.....find something more constructive to do....the people like myself who don't need to DEFEND him....we just support him and all the good he does..and the proven talent he has.....but that would make too much sense....I'll go back to conversations with people who care & remind myself why I DON'T do this as a rule....Garth deserves my respect. He has brought my household much joy with his music and message and generosity to the needy...

Posted by: lucy at October 15, 2009 7:46 PM

Garth is the reason I ever started to listen to country music. He is a great entertainer and his music has been a part of my life. Where do I get a ticket.

Posted by: Gold1 at October 15, 2009 7:51 PM

Why do you people attack someone for the way they look. Garth is one of the all time greatest country singers and he is an awesome father to boot, but it takes a lot to attack Trisha to. That is pretty low because as far as I am concerned she has the best voice of any woman ever in country music. Does she fight her weight, yes she does but that make her a bad person. I don't think so. Some of you need to grow up. Welcome back Garth and Trisha!

Posted by: Jan at October 15, 2009 7:54 PM

HES ACTING MORE LIKE BRENT FARVE EVERYDAY....IM OUT ...IM IN.....IM OUT ....IM IN...........DONT THEY HAVE ENOUGH MONEY

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 7:56 PM

Funny, obviously Retirement didn't make people forget that he not as great as people thought he was. The main problem is people jack people up to be something that they aren't. And when people realize they are no better morally, then the slut next door or the pig at work, they feel fooled. That that person is a fake and not someone that you would like to meet someday, or someone you could hang out with like friends. I have meet and potentially had lots of friends like that. But once I find out they are cheaters and liars and put on fake fronts, I don't waste my time on them. I would rather spend my time and money on someone else that deserves it. Ill take a great and wonderful nobody any day over a great singer with multiple moral and personal flaws.

Posted by: Not Friend or Foe at October 15, 2009 7:57 PM

I was lucky enough to attend Garth Brook's benefit concert in LA, January, 2008. The concert was organized to raise money to benefit the victims and firefighters following the deadly wildfires in Southern California the previous year. I've been to over 100 concerts ranging from rock to soul, jazz to boy bands, and country to hip hop. His concert was one of the all time best. Garth Brooks charity work through the years have raised millions of dollars and millions were raised with his help in LA. He said he wanted to take time off from touring to be home with his family and he did. I don't care if the only reason he's coming back now is because he has only 25 cents left in his bank account or because he's bored. I just know that I for one, am thrilled and I can't wait 'til the tickets go on sale.

He does have talent; but, after declaring he was sorry and was "Shameless" to have Sandi's love he cheated again. Still like his music, everyone makes mistakes, but can I forget the vow's he said to God and then made his own rules---NO!! He was an icon and a role model for many. Is this the role model you want??

He must be running low on all that money he said his grandchildren would never be able to spend. Garth is a phenomenal entertainer, but there is much more competetion now than when he "retired". Tim,Kenny,Keith,Trace,Toby not to mention the great new crop coming on. Eric Church,Jamie Johnson,etc.. What about all the great groups and duos. Montgomery Gentry,Rascall Flatts,Sugarland. The pond is way bigger than when garth "retired"

I feel so sorry for this poor man. He has to smash guitars, and they are probably martin or gibson,to be an act, and there are hundreds of people who would love to be able to afford either one of these guitars, esp my DH. he had A Gibson Hummingbird and our house burned, and we have never been able to aford another and this stupid person smashes guitars for his show. Garth Brooks, I hope someday you have to look at every guitar you have destroyed. any school would love to have guitars for their music classes and music is beig cut from most schools since they cannot afford them, and he smashes guitars for fun. God, you must be sick, Nashville has a great program for insane people, i't called the paranathon, PLEASE CHECK IN AND GET SOME HELP your crazy.

Posted by: Jim at October 15, 2009 9:05 PM

Well i agree with both sides fans and those who dislike him. He had great songs, great entertainer, but like most artists they lose thier way and it's not for the love of music anymore it's about money and fame. Come on $125 a ticket and most shows are going to be in las vegas and only 15 weekends a year for 5 years. If you like to perform and love your fans how about playing smaller towns again and alot less for a ticket. After all you made enough in the past, if your grand children can't spend it. The economy still isn't in the greatest shape yet. That goes for George Strait too.

Posted by: Danny at October 15, 2009 9:17 PM

Hey don't be mean. People are people and all make mistakes. Some make the same ones more than once. Have you done everything in life you said you were going to do? Have you done it just as you said you were going to? If so you are in the wrong place. This is earth. People disapoint those that look up to them. If you really like soneone your feelings are to be unconditional. So if you judge a performer on how they live we have no one to look up to. I loved Elvis, he was far from perfect. George will always be Hot! But you either like music or not. If you want to judge performers by their lifestyle not their music, Kiss, Queen, and most of the 1970's biggest stars would not be the famous people they are today. I don't really like his life style. But we all know friends in low places. Good Luck Garth & Family.

Daniel According to Ask.com - Garth Brooks net worth sits around $150 million including assets (property, jewelry, investments, etc). If you're talking liquid cash, he has around $60 to $75 million to spend. The rest is tied up in assets. Most of his cash comes from his albums which have collectively sold over 123 million copies to date.

That sounds like he has plenty of money to me.

Posted by: jack at October 15, 2009 9:49 PM

It's amazing how many people forget just how incredible this guy is. Before he retired he set a standard for country music that we may never see again. He sold-out concerts whenever he played and toured. He set album sales that will never be duplicated. It's easy to try to find fault with someone that's been away for 9 years, because he's not in the music scene anymore. Yes he made a mistake with his infidelity, but it looks like he's truly in love with Trisha. We all make mistakes, not one of us is perfect. I only wish that he would tour across America again, and give us fans a chance to show him how much we appreciate him and his music. Nothing against George Jones, Hank Wiliams Sr., George Strait or Kenny Rogers, they were all great. But at his peak Garth had America in love with him, and not just country music fans. Because of his music appealing to non-country fans, he made it possible for the Taylor Swifts, Kenny Chesneys and Keith Urbans to have the success they enjoy. Garth is the king and don't you forget it!!!

all of you are wrong missinformed and rediculous what garth did with his wife and trish was wrong and he shouldn't be looked up to because of it ,,but in regards to his music he is not now and has never been country, just like most of the singers singing country now a days.and also in an interview a long time ago garth admitted that the only reason he got into country was because everyone told him he would have a better shot of making it big in country, and they were right. and if you remember his first few years his songs were fairly country, but after he got big the songs got less and less country, and he even admitted in that interview he really didnt like country music that much when he started. SO GARTH STAY RETIRED, TRUE COUNTRY IS GEORGE STRAIT, ALAN JACKSON AND A VERY FEW OTHERS. THE REST SOUNDS LIKE SOFT ROCK DID THIRTY YEARS AGO.................RICK

retirement? stop it. singers dont retire. wow tough job, make millions whoa! i better retire. you dont retire till your 62 if your one of the lucky ones. garth was good in his time. and may bring more great music. but he didnt retire he just moved away from the music scene. thats it! football players who have played for 10,, 12 even 17 years like one brett favre. thats retirement. gettin knocked on ur butt that long. thats exceptable. singers dont retire. they fade with there popularity. good luck garth.

First of all I have been to over 50 concerts and Garth is still the best show I have ever seen! I live in Vegas so will definitely be checking him out again even at $125.00. If you people think that is expensive you have obviously not been to many shows lately. Oh and everyone knows that Vegas is dead in August when it is 115 outside, not a great time to vacation in the desert. As for his personal life that has nothing to do with his talent as a performer so grow up people!!

Garth Brooks changed country music to what it is today. I don't care what anybody says. I would rather here him spill it out than Dierks, Kenney, or the Keith's.

OMG.....I know that is so new wave.....but PLEASE believe me, I`m 58 years young and I am soooooo excited that Garth is coming back to amaze us. I swear to GOD, before I fell asleep last night I said "GOD I wish Garth Brooks would come back!" I don`t care what anyone say`s about him, he changed Country music and made it what it is today. Music that crosses over all types and styles of music today, and showes everyone the basics of what this country was made of. God fearing, hard working, honest, humble people that are the backbone of this great country we live in. I am so excited to hear what amazing music Garth will bring us now. Thankyou so much, Garth for coming back!!!!!!! Been patiently waiting!!!! GOOD LUCK! LOVE YOU! Kathleen Choy

How come nobody can remember Garth's alter-ego "Chris Gaines"? I remember that CD sold exclusively at 7-11, and was followed up by a bogus "rockumentary" where Garth reinvented himself as a mainstream pop star under the non-de-guerre of Chris Gaines. I guess everyone wanted to forget that one, it was such a failure.

I am not going to be mean, I am going to be factual. Who is Garth Brooks? I live in his home town of Yukon, OK and we have a water tower painted that shows he was born in the water tower, at least that is what it says on the water tower: "Yukon, OK home of Garth Brooks". Also, they named one of the main streets Garth Brooks Blvd. But what has he done for his home town since he became famous? Nothing. Squat!! Most singers honor their home towns in some way or the other. Troy Aikman honored Henryetta, OK with a new sports center. Toby Keith honors his hometown of Moore/Norman, OK with fundraisers for various charities, etc. Not Garth! He is too busy telling Barbara Walters that he has more money than he can spend in his lifetime. Well, big deal!! Ask a lot of locals about Garth and they will say "Who?" He goes to Owasso, OK (north of Tulsa), buys a big ranch and builds a new house for Trish and has another house built out back for Sandy. WOW. Exciting huh? No matter who they are, I have no respect for a person who cheats!!

I happen to live in the same small town that Garth, Trisha and Sandy live in and these 3 people get along and have for many years. They put the bitterness that some of you seem to still have behind them for the sakes of their children. For all you folks that think he did this just because he had money, you really do not know this man in any way shape or form. I have seen him at many sporting events, restaurants and school functions and he does a lot to make sure he doesnt get the "spotlight" on him so that the other people at the event are focused on. People make mistakes in life and sometimes it takes a few stumbles to get things right, so people in glass houses should not throw stones. They are all good people and he's back as an entertainer and a very good one at that so stick to the facts and that is that he is a hell of an entertainer and if you are not a fan then why are you bothering to make comments.

Only back for the money, a cheater, yadda yadda yadda. It is nobody elses business why or about his personal life. DID YOU KNOW GARTH IS BACK? I've been saying this all day. Garth is in it for the MUSIC if you've ever seen him play/sing. It seeps out of every pore in his soul when he plays and it's so great to hear and watch. By the way, DID YOU KNOW GARTH IS BACK?

Nobody who knows music can doubt what garth did for country music in the 90's. If he wants to perform again more power to him. I'd rather listen to Ricks Scaggs and KY Thunder play bluegrass anyday! I still say Kenny's Gay.

I think he sucks and cannot sing. All he does is run across the stag and does all kinds of tricks. He runs and jumps. All George Strait does is stand and sing and he is great. All Garth talks about is how much money he has and he can retire whenever he wants to. H e acts like he is better than anyone else in the world. Big fatso

For all of you judgemental jerks out there, quit acting like any of you are perfect!!! He made a mistake, he his quite aware of that!!! As for his performances they are awesome...who wants to pay for a ticket to watch someone stand there and sing??? I love George Strait and would love to go to his show, but I'd go see Garth first. And it takes a loving father to give up his soaring career for any amount of time to raise his daughters!!! God Bless Garth Brooks and WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!

many of you seem to have trouble with spelling and grammar, and that should matter to everyone more than whether you are pleased or hate the thought of garth coming back.

Posted by: delila at October 15, 2009 11:58 PM

Some of you folks are nice, and then some of you need to go to Afganistan and fight the Taliban an Al Quida to get rid of all the hate an poison that is trapped inside of you!

Posted by: whothhellcares at October 16, 2009 12:06 AM

I was lucky enough to meet Garth when he played here in Kansas City for 9 shows and went to 5 of them. I have to tell you I have met alot of famous people and Garth is the real deal. We went to his private living area not some meet and greet room. He invited us (6 total)to sit on his couch and he sat crosslegged on the floor. He spent 20 minutes with us asking us questions about our lives and truly was interested. He brought Trisha and his daughter in and introduced them to us. Then he offered to take pictures with us and even asked my wife "may I put my arm around you" for the picture to which she said no you have to hug me and he laughed and did for the pic. Called us by name and treated us like royalty. Thanked the staff of the Sprint Center calling them mam and sir. He is a first class person. Even if he wasnt famous he would have millions of friends. truly someone who gets it. I gave him a Bob Seger shirt because it is one of his favorites and he jumped up and hugged me like it was christmas. He was humbled that we had already been to 4 shows that week and thanked us for supporting him. I feel like a better person just for knowing him. Someone who has is all and still treats people as a neighbor.

Posted by: Anonymous at October 16, 2009 12:19 AM

we have no right to judge, only one can judge all of us. its just like some like his music and some don't, i for one like it and it doesn't matter if he is retired or not i still listen to his music, as i do a lot of others that are in retirement, to each his own, country, rock-n-roll, oldies, the rap crap

Welcome back Garth!!! Pay no mind to the people that feel they are judge and jury over everything that goes on in people's private lives. No one person has the right to judge another. A person's personal life is really no one elses business.
It is really sad to see so many people with hearts filled with hate. You either like the music or not..that is fine..because everyone has their own taste as far as music goes. But to bash anyone because of events in their personal lives and too insult people that you do not even really know is ridiculous.

As far as the trashy talking people on here..I say this..You pay for a CD..you get a CD. You pay to be entertained at a concert..you get entertainment. You got what you paid for. The singer doesn't owe you their life.
I certainly never met the perfect person and do not expect to.
I myself love country music, and have a lot of favorites. So..bring it on Garth!!!

I am thrilled with the great news! I attended his concert when in Corvallis, Or. He was so kind
and friendly during setup etc. He has know idea how he helped a dear friend that had just lost
a son who was his age at the time of this particular concert. God works in strange and wonderful
ways through all people. For those that choose to judge others, remember that even a sheet of paper has two sides. He truly has a talent, a good father with a heart for his work as well as
human beings. I'd be delighted to chat with him one day. I'm anxious to hear what he has in store
for us. I believe I have all his CD's and listen often. Real country with class!

seriously folks.....for those of you who didn't pass spelling class in school, don't try and type messages? it looks like 3rd graders....
for those of us who like garth, great. for those of you who don't, do you really find it necessary to respond out of boredom?

they are way more important things to be "angry" about...our children in iraq, the economy, the recession, hunger in our country, ......for the love of god, take your anger out on more important things.....seriously!!!!!!

Great entertainer, however, time has taken its toll. He is overweight, a little forgotten and who in their right mind in this economy would pay $125 a ticket to watch and listen to an overweight old man. Sorry but that is exactly what he is. Last time I saw him he was huffin and a puffin. He could hardly move around on stage. He changed the face of country music for the better. More entertaining. But I would not pay that to see any one now. Putting food on the table is more important. Concert days are ending. People just cannot afford it. These entertainers need to get a clue.

Posted by: seeyes22 at October 16, 2009 2:53 AM

for all you haters that say "he ain't country music" or "he's not a good artist", then how did this happen. From 1989 to 2008, he sold 128 million records. #2 all time in music history with the beatles being #1. not bad since the beatles had a 80 year(?? i just know there old) head start on him. and for the ones that said "he couldn't make it today" or "he's not as good as he used to be", then how did this happen. in august 2007 MORE THAN A MEMORY debuted at #1 on the billboard country chart. becoming the highest debuting single in the charts history. the highest debuting single before MORE THAN A MEMORY was kenny chesney DON'T BLINK. it debuted at #16.
and also this is for the idiot (i think dh) that said "HE TRIED TO DO A DEAL WITH WALMART AND THE SALES WERE NOT VERY GOOD". the limited series box set sold 500,000 copies on the release date. and for everyone that is mad because he retired and came back (did not say he was coming out of retirement) and did a few concerts then went back home to finish raising his kids(i didn't know that being there for your kids as they grow up makes a man an ass) you haters can suck it.... the way he toured from 89 to 99, and all the records he sold for those ten years, hell he can do whatever he wants. he needed a break.

WOW... MOST OF YOU ARE SO JUDGEMENTAL AND HATEFUL. SUCH FURY ABOUT A PERSON YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW, OR A SITUATION YOU REALLY HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT. IT'S ONE THING TO HAVE AN OPINION.. BUT AT LEAST KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT BEFORE GIVING ONE... WOULD YOU WANT TO BE JUDGED BY PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T KNOW YOU OR YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES? REMEMBER " WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND " AND KARMA IS A BITCH. AS FOR HIS MUSIC, YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIKE IT.. MANY PEOPLE LOVE IT. SO CHILL OUT .. CONCENTRATE ON YOUR OWN SINS.. AND CORRECT THEM. THROW YOUR STONES AWAY BEFORE SOMEONE DECIDES TO USE THEM ON YOU.

Big Deal!!
Hope he gets better song writers this time.He put out the same 3 chord crapolla over and over again just for the cash and to keep his name in the music media. I'll use "It's Midnight Cinderella" as a perfect example.Maybe he can play the "B" circuit of casinos and ballrooms after Dolly Pardon and Kenny Rogers retire.
I saw him in concert. Lots of running around, and mediocre singing. It was the longest night of my life!He may be back, but not for long!!
