Suzanne Somers on Cancer

Suzanne Somers, is causing a ruckus once again with her controversial statements on cancer. And now she's even releasing an entire book about it.

Somers claims that chemotherapy should never be done, and the cancer treatments offered by the medical establihment should be avoided. She then offers a list of alternative treatments that she says will work better. But doctors and medical experts of course are displeased and say she is putting people in danger by telling them to avoid proper health care. The American Cancer Society says "We use current treatments because they've been proven to prolong life. They've gone through a logical, scientific method of evaluation. I don't know if Suzanne Somers even knows there IS a logical, scientific method." Ouch!

Personally I'm not biased against alternative medicine and I believe it often works wonders. but in this case, everything I've read indicates that all this advice from Suzanne Somers on cancer is dubious at best, and it is irresponsible for her to keep promoting it.

Less than a year after the former sitcom actress frustrated mainstream doctors (and cheered some fans) by touting bioidentical hormones on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," she's back with a new book. This one's on an even more emotional topic: Cancer treatment. Specifically, she argues against what she sees as the vast and often pointless use of chemotherapy. Somers, who has rejected chemo herself, seems to relish the fight...

I too fought conventional cancer treatment when I was diagnosed with insitu breat cancer in 2003. The treatment according to the medical establishment was for a lumpectomy, followed by radiation and/or the drug tomaxifin. I chose just the lumpectomy. So far 6 years later everything is fine.

I think we should be offered alternative methods of treatments, if we choice to go that way. I say good for Suzanne!!!!! We need and want alternatives!!!

I think that Suzanne Somers needs to stick to what she knows and clearly medicine is not one of her strong points. She is an out of work actress that has no business delving into an area that people go through years of schooling and dedicate their life to. Just because she survived cancer does not make her a genius, it just makes her lucky. It is criminal that she is advising people to drink carrot juice to combat this killer. She not only contradicts her own theories but most of her comments in the interview I saw were just plain ignorant. I was highly offended by her ploy to sell books this time because she could potentially hurt innocent people that believe in her treatment. She should stick to exercise books and leave medicine to the doctors.

I think people are just afraid to give up all their drugs. I'm 57 years old,and only take a vitamin every morning. I have always ate right and exercised. I watched my brother go through chemo and two stem cell transplants, and lived in the hospital for two years before he was taken by all this stuff that was shoved into his body just to prolong his life. What kind of life is that. I don't think it was the cancer that killed him. It was all those horrible treatments they put him through. Everyone says leave the medicine to the doctors. Well I have only had one doctor that actually helped me and that was a chiropractor, the rest just want to get you hooked on drugs so you will keep coming back for more, Thanks but no thanks. Suzanne keep on preaching girl and maybe some day the cancer society will open their eyes to other methods of saving people that is more humane beside pumping them full of CRAP!!!!

All I can say is, if you'd rather take medical advice from Suzanne Somers than a well trained oncologist, then you probably just lost the evolutionary test.
Bye now.

Have you ever seen people go thru chemo and radiation? You think the doctors know everything and that they have the cure? Good deal of the time, after remission, cancer does return. It was awful watching loved ones and friends die after that grueling treatment. There is big business in cancer. Maybe, they do not want a cure, ever think of that?

My dear friend was diagnosed with advanced acute leukemia. The doctors talked her into chemotherapy, they did not give her much hope. She suffered terribly, and broke out with painful sores from the chemo. I feel that without the chemo she would of lived longer and she would not of suffered near like she did. She could of spent her last days enjoying her family and friends, instead she withered away in pain and died in one month. I know that if I'm ever confronted with the same issue, I will try alternatives and except my fate as God's will.

God bless people like Suzanne, who are not brainwashed and conditioned into believing that these doctors know everything.

TV news recently reported that over 500,000 American victims of cancer are now dying annually of that disease. How can anyone seeing that figure consider the American cancer industry approach to fighting cancer anything other than a colossal ongoing failure of massive proportions? If they cared to the slightest degree for those innocent lives, they would abandon their largely ineffective cash cow--over 60 billion dollar a year--treatment system that many call quackery (since both chemo and radiation actually cause cancer) and look at other approaches that have long demonstrated the ability to cure that disease on a consistent basis--Dr. Tulio Simoncini and Mr. Royal Rife spring immediately to mind. I can only attribute their delay to abysmal ignorance and supreme stupidity since the only alternative to that possibility is cruelty on a level matching or exceeding that of Adolph Hitler during WWII. When will we begin executing doctors for criminal malpractice amounting to mass murder?

We are raising funds and awareness for breast cancer vaccine research, for Dr. Czerniecki at the University of Pennsylvania. Please check it out. It is in its second clinical trial and uses your own immune system to prevent breast cancer, prevent a reacurance ant a treatment. The offcial name is ICAIT (immune conditioning activated innate transfer with dendritic cells.) If you are diagnosed or know someone is diagnosed with breast cancer please check it out BEFORE you have your surgery. So far the results are amazing. The only side effects so far seem to be flue like symstems showing that the immune response is taking place. For more info contact us on our web-site.

I am a cancer survivor and raise funds and awareness for breast cancer vaccine research. There is a new trial at Penn under the leadership of Dr. Brian Czerniecki. Do yourself a favor and check it out. It uses your own immune system...

I think that with all the money being spent on cancer research and with today's technonogy that they could find a cure for cancer if the really wanted to.

My mother was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye)when she was two years old in 1947. The doctors removed her eye and gave her a very slim chance of survival. She did not recieve Chemo or Radiation therapy.

My Grandmother had heard that carrots were good for a person's eye sight. Even though she didn't expect my mother to live past a year, if she did, she wanted to be sure that her other eye was in good health. My grandmother fed my mother carrots (cooked and raw) until my mother turned orange. My mother survived childhood, grew-up, had four children, and is still alive today. She's 64 and cancer free.
