2012 Movie Apocalypse Predictions

The new disaster movie 2012 shows yet another Hollywood vision of the world coming to an end, but could these 2012 movie apocalypse predictions be a truthful prediction of things to come?

December 12th, 2012, has long been known as the end of the Mayan calendar, when according to some interpretations, global disasters are predicted to take place. Many conspiracy theorists have latched onto this as the end date for the world as we know it, while others believe it will be a transformative moment that ushers in a new and better world.

Scholars of Mayan culture, though, say these amateur apocalypse theories are misinterpreting the Mayan's beliefs, and scientists say there is no scientific basis for the doomsday theories either. But as John Cusack says in the film, when they tell you not to panic, that's when you run! So it's up to you to decide what to believe. If you are planning to hide in an underground bunker forever or something like that, starting on 12/12/2012, I'd be glad to hold all your money and car keys for you starting on December 11th. You know, just to make things easier for you.

The 2012 phenomenon is a range of beliefs that cataclysmic events will occur in 2012. The forecast is based primarily on the supposed end-date of the Mayan Long Count calendar, according to a mix of amateur archaeoastronomy, alternative interpretations of mythology, numerological constructions, and alleged prophecies from extraterrestrial beings... [in other words a bunch of hogwash.]
