Chelsea Clinton Interfaith Marriage

One of the most interesting angles on the news that Chelsea Clinon is engaged is that it eill be an interfaith marriage, as her fiancee, Marc Mezvinsky, is Jewish while the Clinton family is Christian.

The family and their reps are keeping mum about most details of the marriage, so there's no word on whether either will be converting, as Ivanka Trump converted to Judaism for her marriage. But either way, I think it's a beautiful thing for all of us to keep coming together this way.. it's easy for people like me who live in New York to forget that many people in America don't have as much exposure to Jewish people, and sadly some antisemitism is still out there, so it's a good thing symbolically for everyone to see this this interfaith wedding, an example of how we can all live as one.

Aides to Hillary Clinton, citing Chelsea's privacy, will not disclose whether Chelsea has received an engagement ring, or any other specific details about wedding dresses, location of the wedding or plans. It will be an interfaith marriage; Mezvinsky is Jewish, while Clinton grew up attending Methodist Church with her mother. Bill Clinton is Southern Baptist....

I never understood how someone who believes in Jesus Christ as our Saviour and practices such faith could ever turn away and become Jewish which faith does not believe in Jesus Christ. It would be a somewhat sign of rebuking our Lord and following the non-believer. What a shame. Why can't they both remain in their respective religions and raise their children offering both sides of two perfect worlds of our Father and his Son, Jesus Christ.

It will be a difficult road if both of them take their faith seriously. Perhaps one, or both, of them is lax in their beliefs and does not consider the mingling of faiths to be an issue. Being a person of faith myself, I am sad to hear of anyone who drops their faith, but for these two it might not be a problem. They need to openly discuss their options and come to some type of compromise. The path will be a bumpy one, but let me ask you this...what marriage DOESN'T have it's share of difficulties? It's up to this couple to acknowledge and accept the troubles this clash of beliefs might cause and prepare themselves for situations that could arise down the line.

Glad Obama finally made a decision on sending troops to Afghanistan. Only took the idiot 3 months. What a great commander in chief he is turning out to be.

"And you shall have no other God's before me." That includes the Trinity. How Pagan does one have to be to believe in a human or animal form as a God, immaculate conception (also taken from the Greeks), bodily Resurection, also taken from Pagan relegions? The best one is how God changes his mind and makes, according to Paul, a new Covenant, omitting many of the original laws and guidelines. This by the way made it a lot easier for the Gentile Pagans adopt to it much more readily. After all, which pagan is going to believe in an unseen God?
Give us that old time religion and believe in the One God.

Pat your an Idiot!! I suggest you read the Old Testament. You do believe in the Old Testament don't you. Especially the Ten Commandments which state Thy shall no other G-d beside me. I believe Christ was Jewish. Also the Last Supper was a Passover Seder. Whether you believe it or not Christ died a Jew. Just because Jews don't believe he was the savior. Unlike You, Jews don't have to communicate threw a "Third Party" to talk to G-d.I suggest you might want to get your head out of the cave you are living in.

Regarding the comment stating he cannot understand how a christian can marry a jew, because jews do not believe in Christ
This shows a person with very narrow minded,In the first place Christ was jewish, secondly love is more important than beliefs. After all no one
can demonstrate if all those events regarding Christ really took place as we know it. Let Chelsea and Mark have a good life beyond what previous generations try to impose on newer generations

Zayd and friedman,You Christkillers have some nerve talking against Christ. The old testament means nothing to us.It is a handbook on not to kill your child, not to screw your brothers wife ,not to screw your daughter and about no sodomy. We Christians dont need to have such disgusting thing spelled out for us.Christ 's way of life is what we r tought. That is a religion.

I've been marries to a jew for thirty years next summer even though I was confirmed a Christian whilst at high school. We also grew up on two different continents.
There is so much more to marriage than religion. Open your eyes and your hearts - love is universal. My two kids enbrace all people, regardless of faith and are very well adjusted.

my daughter married the most terrific catholic son in law i could ever hope for and it forced her to confront her Judaism and brought them both closer to their religions. Our granddaughter is being raised (as a Jesus was raised) as a nice jewish person...Remember he only achieves the status of a god when he is declared to be a god by another "god" the roman emperor constantin in the 4th century. before that he is simply a nice jewish boy. the romans decide to get rid of all other discussions about mary or jesus's wife or make women subserviant or burn all the gnostic gospels like that of Judas recently recovered from Egypt which contradict most of the idol worshipers views on things because that is what all the later roman christians where (idol worshipers)wanted to do. they switch the sabbath to sunday from saturday. move the calendar from lunar to solar. insert all sorts of idolatry and planetary nonsense which still remains today in our language and our calendar...borrow heavily from the norse Frisday wedensday thors day and the barbarian tree worshipers xmas tree...none of which jesus would ever recognize. jesus remember never set foot in a church or on roman soil so there is nothing holy about the roman empire or rome or the vatican. he wouldnt know a basilica from an ampitheatre. he was raised in a temple...the temple...he ate kosher...he wouldnt eat a ham and cheese sandwich if his life depended on it...so for all of you who are offended by clinton's kid getting married to a jewish guy,,,think of who gave the world most of its good things like penicillan, and cell phone technology and sigmund freud, albert einstein, and one more thing...reread the 10 commandments especially number 1 (the one about i am the lord they god thou shalt have no other gods but me! and then say to yourself...you really wouldnt want to call the almighty a liar to his face would you?

Hay Pat, if you actually do believe in Christ, you would not be saying anything about who marries who - or that Christ doesn't believe in that. Christ LOVES all and there is nothing in the bible saying anything else. Who cares what color or faith you are - - do you love and respect each other - - that's all that matters. That is the Christian Way.

As a follower of Christ, I see main points on here from those who claim to be Christians and from those who are supporting the Jewish faith. Jesus Christ, the only son of God, would indeed have a problem with a Christian in today's worl marrying a Jew for the simple reason that they would be unequally yoked. Jesus was a Jew, but they Jewish faith rejected him and, with the Romans, crucified him. Love is not enough, many marriages fall apart because the two do not agree in faith. I'm just saying, it's an issue.

It is amazing how history can be changed by people in power. It wasnt the Romans that killed Jesus,it was the jewish people that lived in Palestine at the time who forced the Romans hand. They chose to free a murderer who was to be crucified rather than free a harmless preacher .So people ,dont put the blame on Romans

Who cares? Anyone making a big deal of this is just plain prejudiced, and trying to hide that fact in the name of God. Good people are good people, whatever the religion. If some of you can't accept an interfaith marriage, you're showing how biased you are against others. Religion is one aspect of life, and only one aspect. Life isn't ruled by religion; this is not the era of the Crusades. Whatever happened to Jesus 2000 years ago is irrelevant to the lives of these 2 young people. LOve conquers all; if you can't accept that, then you don't know what love is and you hide behind an invisible wall of prejudice.

Forget the topic! Don't you people re-read what you write? Your sentence structure and spelling is awful never mind the underlining hatred by some people here (who supposedly follow the Christian faith.)

Your argument is lost in the poor grammar never mind the lack of logic or awareness of subject matter. Just because you are born into a faith does not mean YOU understand it: it does not work like osmosis. One needs to study and learn...oh yeah, that is a Jewish trait isn't it?

Many of you should consider buying EB White's book: The Elements of Style.

Please, learn about a topic before sounding off. Thanks!
