Devo: First Album in 20 Years!

Nerds across the world are rejoicing at the news that Devo is together again, recording their first new album in 20 years. Let's see if we can report this without making some kind of joke about "whipping it again"!

The group has been steadily touring, but hasn't made a new album since 1990's "Smooth Noodle Maps" (don't ask me, that's the name), so this new release is a big event.

Leader Mark Mothersbaugh says he feels inspired for the first time in a while, perhaps by the political changes that came about recently. Most people don't know their big hit songh Whip It was actually a tribute to Jimmy Carter, rooting for him to step up and whip things into shape (this is actually true, not joking). I'm just going to hope this doesn't jinx Obama into becoming another one term president.

gigwise

Devo are to release their first new studio album in almost 20 years, it's been announced. The band, who formed in Ohio in 1973, will release their new effort in autumn next year. "De-evolution has finally arrived and who better to guide us through the mess than Devo," a message said on their website...

FANTASTIC!!

DEVO,one of the best bands anyone could ever see live! They were/are sooo tight! Glad to have them back.I've found that the best post-punk/new-wave bands today are the same ones(are of spin-offs)that were doing it back just after punk died,or ones that have gone solo. Today's so-called alternative =just stadium rock;just don't cut it. Who do they think they're foolin'?

As an official "devotee" I'm really looking forward to it. I agree that their concerts were one of the best I ever saw so much that I saw them live at least 5 times.
