Fired for Playing Fantasy Football?


In today's I Would Totally Lose My Job For This news, a man in was reportedly fired for spending too much time on his fantasy football team (as if you could ever spend too much time on that).

The man, Cameron Pettigrew, was in fact one of four employees of Fidelity, fired for taking part in a fantasy league that included office management and leadership. Cameron says he especially was singled out for being the manager of the league, who gathered everyone's oh so scandalous 20 dollar buy-ins. Fidelity was apparently applying an absurdly literal and stringent interpretation of their policy against illegal gambling.

They're popular among people of all ages, and in many businesses but fantasy football leagues have landed four North Texans in the unemployment line. Cameron Pettigrew, 26, was one of them. He previously worked for Fidelity Investments for 2 1/2 years, but on October 21, he and three other employees were fired. "I was fired for playing fantasy football," he said...
