American Death, Haiti

As world continues to watch with horror and look for ways to help Haiti in the aftermath of their catastrophic earthquake, news has come back to our country of the first American casualty offically recorded in the disaster.

Many Americans work in Haiti in various capacities, including various kinds of work to help the nation that was already wracked with poverty before this natural disaster. No furher details are yet available on the identity of the American who died, but the government reports that hundreds of Americans are in the process of being evacuated from the country now.

Condolences to the family of that American victim, and just as much to the countless Haitians who are suffering unthinkable loss as well. Please think about giving however you can, doctors without borders is a highly respected place to donate.
