Simon Idol Replacement?

As Simon Cowell, the mastermind and supervillain of American Idol, prepares to ride off into the sunset, and onto another show, producers are mulling over their various options for a Simon Idol replacement.

There are no leading candidates yet, and you certainly can't have just anyone in that job. It needs to be someone who knows music and the music industry really well, and knows how to have that sharp edge with just the right mix of smarts, meanness and honesty. I can't even think of anyone off the top of my head. Maybe Snoop Dogg?

Apparently Piers Morgan is the odds on favorite among bookmakers, but the most interesting name to me on that list is Quincy Jones. He certainly never holds his tongue, and knows pop music as well as anyone who has ever lived. Russell Simmons would be lots of fun too. In fact if they got Rusell and Rick Rubin together, it wold be golden!
