Joaquin Phoenix & PETA Video PSA

They say strange people like to stick together, and two of the most famous entities for pulling crazy stunts have now come together, as Joaquin Phoenix is teaming up with PETA for a new animal rights campaign.

Phoenix has filmed a PSA encouraging his fellow celebrities (is he still one?) not to wear animal skins.

Rather than the usual focus on wearing fur, Joaquin;s ad takes aim at the wearing of exotic skins from alligators, snakes and other such reptiles that often provide the skin for hollywood's duds.

Says Phoenix: ""Exotic animals are mostly unknown to us, and so is what they suffer before being turned into belts and bags. Every year millions of reptiles are slaughtered so handbags, belts and shoes can be made from their skin....."

I have a lot of issues with PETA, but I certainly support the humane treatment of animals, and choosing clothing and fashion that is made ethically, and hope this does some good. But I'm not sure PETA ever does more good than harm.

Joaquin Phoenix resurfaces for PETA video. Actor-turned-rapper Joaquin Phoenix has stepped in front of the camera one more time in the name of animal rights -- he's recorded a PETA campaign clip to urge stars against wearing exotic animal skins. The "Walk The Line" star has recorded a short film for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) calling on celebrities to stop wearing clothes and accessories made from creatures such as alligators, lizards and snakes...
