Demi Moore, Body Obsession No More?

After years of chasing after the perfect body in Hollywood's celebrity glamour rat race, Demi Moore says she is tired of the body obsession the industry forces on women.

In an interview recently, she talked about how she's learned over time that the quest for beauty and material items is a dead end that never leaves you satisfied. She said, "There isn't a car, there isn't a house, there isn't a job that is ever ultimately going to be enough.

But though she says she has grown beyond it now, Demi Moore admitted in her years as a top actress she was indeed caught up in body obsession that was unhealthy. "I had an extreme obsession with my body. I made it a measure of my own value," Moore told Elle magazine.

"I tried to dominate it, which I did, and I changed it multiple times over. But it never lasted and ultimately it didn't bring me anything but temporary happiness," the sex symbol and star actress explained. "Does being thin resolve anything? No. The irony is that when I abandoned that desire to dominate my body, it actually became the body that I always wanted. But it only happened when I stopped trying to control it. At the end of the day, this kind of obsession is pointless and meaningless."

At the premiere of The Joneses, Demi Moore revealed that she is done with obsessing over her body image, as well as with material goods. Earlier this month, Moore made a comment to UK Elle about how she used to be obsessive over her external image, and how she dieted and exercised constantly. Moore claimed that she learned how to step back and let go of chasing material items and a certain image. Moore continued to explain how obsessive over body image will never make us happy enough or give us what we are looking for.
