Sarah Palin and Arizona

A girl's high school basketball team has decided to boycott the state of Arizone, thus sparking even more controversy around Arizona's extreme new immigration laws and the strong protests against them.

Many praised the basketball team for taking a stand in defense of their beliefs, but others including Sarah Palin called for the players to change their position. The former Governor is calling for players to "go rogue" and go to the tournament even if tthe school system is not officially sending them.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has railed against a suburban Chicago high school for skipping a girls' basketball tournament in Arizona because of concerns over that state's new immigration law. Palin said Wednesday night that people should help the Highland Park team get to Arizona even if the girls have to "go rogue." Palin says an economic and political boycott of Arizona is not the way to secure the country's borders. But district assistant superintendent Suzan Hebson says the trip "would not be aligned with our beliefs and values."
