Peta: Gaga? "Whisper In Her Ear" Outrage

PETA has some shocking words for Lady Gaga's latest attempt to shock and awe, with a dress made out of meat. Not surprising that the animal rights organization would be upset with this outfit, but what statement was Gaga really trying to make?

Ingrid Newkirk, the leader of PETA, wrote on her blog about Lady Gaga "Meat is the decomposing flesh of a tormented animal who didn't want to die, and after a few hours under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh it is and likely be crawling in maggots--not too attractive, really. The stunt is bringing lots of people to PETA.org to download a copy of our vegetarian/vegan starter kit, so I guess we should be glad."

Newkirk and Ellen Degenres also suggested Gaga should try some vegetaian recipes for her clothing next time.

Did Lady Gaga's dress meat your fashion standards for Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards? OK, bad puns aside, the pop icon's savory outfit is drawing reactions from pop critics and animal rights advocates alike -- as if PETA were going to stay silent long on this one.Gaga responded on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," telling the talk show host that, "It's certainly no disrespect to anyone that's vegan or vegetarian. ... However, it has many interpretations -- but for me this evening it's that if we don't stand up for what we believe in, if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones."
