I can't wait for this album. I luv her new song "Ain't No Other Man" already. It's finally something different to listen to instead of listening to new artists coming out with the same material that other artists write!

I've been waiting for what seems like forever, and now it's almost here. The time when Christina (x-tina, as i like to call her) releases another wonderful album for me to spend months listening to. I already have the first single. And I have the MP3 saved in my phone so I can listen to it whenever the song pop's into my head, which is all the damn time!! Can't wait for the new Vid to launch! I stopped reading after the "To be honest iv always been a bit of a Britney fan." That right that says a lot about WHY you wouldn't appreciate real vocal and song-writing talent as much as other music fans might.

Oh wow, I don't know what you've been listening to to not appreciate the immense amount of talent that Chritstina Aguilera pocesses, but I feel bad for you. Like every great new song, it takes a while of listening to really enjoy it, and her new song is no exception. Most people automatically fear what is new to them and reject it... if that's your case then listen to it a bit more before being so harsh. But try to remember, if she didn't truly respect the music that was coming out on her new album, it probably wouldn't be on there. So sorry that she was being to risque for your taste in trying something different and that it "disapointed you". If you don't have anything nice to say, then restrain yourself from saying it because it takes alot of talent to get where she is and no one who respects her talents wants to listen to someone who in "just my opinion" says "thumbs down". Besides that, the cd sounds like it's going to be a show stopper and I can't wait, she's one of my favorite artists. Hope everyone enjoys :)

As talented as Xtina is, I still think she needs to learn how to tame and discipline her voice. I didn't really like her new single; there's nothing unique or catchy about it. I was kind of thrown off by how she randomly belted a note in between the song (which is nothing new coming from her, but I wish she would stop that already). I just find it very annoying. Some of you people need to stop making a big deal if some of us aren't praising Xtina's voice. Yes, she's talented, but she needs to control her voice and maybe show a bit more modesty. It's great that she's comfortable about her sexuality and is all about "girl power," but sometimes it's too over the top and self-centered to me. Just my opinion.

xtina is pure talent, and she has proven 2 the world that she has what it takes to sing in the company of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, etta james and alot more. She has amazing harmonies and wide vocal range that could CAUSE AN EARTHQUAKE. You can truly see she has matured as a woman a person and as a singer. Stripped was an amazing album with incredible vocals, and now she comes back stronger...U go Chris....DO YO' THANG HONEY!!!!!

wow, I cannot WAIT 4 back to basics to drop. Like many others I agree that Stripped was arguably the best album of the year! Her latest offering sounds amazing, very different to what Christina has done before but incorporating themes that she's always flirted with (for example, the jazzy concept in the video to "Tilt Ya Head Back" with Nelly a while back). Chris ur an amazing singer, awesome talent and strong role model, and an inspiration for girls (and guys, I guess!) everywhere. GO X-TINA!!!

No other song out right now sounds as good as Ain't no other man. Yes christina sings high notes and belts out but that's why i love her. If i've feeling stressed i put her records on - sing my guts out and feel so much better. I can't wait until Back to Basics hits the UK.
I think it is cool that people will like Britney spears but i suppose you have to have some bad singing to appreciate good singing.

ive heard some clips and think this album is gonna be great. i think compared to most other female artists around these days that sells she has one of the most powerful voices out of all of them. i do hope she goes back to some songs which were on stripped for album number 4 and doesnt stick with the retro, but i think its a good change and it will be a hugeee album! there'll be a lot of media attention on it and should do very well in the charts. and when shes on tour it will sound amazing live!

Tell you what, with a free acapella doing the rounds of "Aint No Other Man" someone somewhere better go absolutely off the clock with a remix. Vocals are top notch and the beat is jazzy as hell. Just needs to get more raw, foot to the floor for it to really rock some clubs.

XTINA really needs to stop oversinging. OK she's proven that she has a voice. STOP trying to hit every note on the scale. I agree with the individuals stating that this new song is not really different or new from what we've heard in the past. I was a fan of hers when she first came out, but I grew tired of her voice and lack of original material. Again, this is a sign of regurgitated material.

I don't know what ya'll are talking about, but critics are already calling Back to Basics the Album of the year.

Back To Basics is going to be the album of the year! A lot of other singers are putting out albums in the month of August as well, but only one true artist is and that is Christina. That girl is so fearless when it comes about her song writting, the genres of music that she plays with, her image, and so on. She is a true artist and I am so refreshed to hear some music that you can tell actually took time to develop. Nowadays too many singers go for the club banger, for sure hit songs, to get in the race, but at the finish line only a few artists will be there, and Christina is one of them! She will be around for years to come...and will keep gracing us with her gift of song! So sorry to all the haters out there better turn the radio and tv off because there is so much more of her to come in the very near future bitches!

I finally have BACK TO BASICS! My friend in Ireland bought 2 copies and sent one to me in New York and it arrived yesterday! I have to give the album an 8/10, because it's pretty darn good. Most songs (like 95%) are really good, but there are some occasional classical, violin element shockers that I wasn't really expecting Christina to do as they are not blues, soul, jazz, pop or even R&B influenced. Nevertheless, I hope first week sales soar, as this album is very high quality... I mean 22 songs! I think these are the tracks that will be make the biggest impact on fans: Back In The Day, Makes Me Wanna Pray (sounds like an Aretha song!), Slow Down Baby, Understand, Oh Mother, Without You, Candyman, On Our Way & Still Dirrty.

I HAVE NEWS OF RECORD SALES FOR BACK TO BASICS!
The album was released in Japan on August 9th, so 2 days ago and it has already sold: 36,400 COPIES! I looked on SoundScan for Germany and Ireland (where it was released 10th & today), and all I got was 16,000 COPIES sold in Germany yesterday... which is pretty darn good!
The album has only been released for 3 days and in 2 countries and manged to shift a quick 52,400 copies!

Christina is great. she is the best singing talent out there right now. i like the fact that this album is different from what 'hot' right now. i love the fact that she does whatever is best for her as an artist, not wat is best for sell. dont get me wrong, this album will probably be a great seller, but its so different from what you hear today. she amasing and i lover new song, i cant wait for the album to come out. please buy her album out Aug 15. According to SOUNDSCAN records this morning, the album has shifted 822,430 copies worldwide already, which is pretty amazing! The album has sold 188,000 copies in the USA since it's Tuesday morning release and according to reports, the album is predicted to sell anywhere between 380,000 and 600,000 in it's first week (in the US) based on it's first day sales of 73,000 copies!

In answer to LUIS' question...
BRITNEY SPEARS 'IN THE ZONE' has shifted 10 million copies worldwide, which is also amazing. Britney has sold 96 million albums and singles worlwide since her debut, quite a lot more than Christina, who is only on 32 million at the moment. Watch this space :-)

I think her new album is absolutely amazing. I think the best tracks are: Makes Me Wanna Pray, Back In The Day, Oh Mother, On Our Way, Without You, Candyman, Slow Down Baby, Ain't No Other Man, Understand, Still Dirrty and Understand. Not bad considering I love half of the album. Think there's something for everyone on here, but I just can't get into; Here To Stay, Mercy On Me and I really don't like The Right Man. Yeah I agree with Sharon... the tracks 'Here To Stay' and 'The Right Man' just don't seem to suit Christina's voice and style. Most of this album is great, but I don't get why people keep calling 'On Our Way a 'filler'?! It's a really good song with a catchy chorus and great beat. 'Back In The Day' has an amazing beat and it's so innovative! 'Makes Me Wanna Pray' rocks too! Apparently Aretha Franklin heard the album and loves it too according to Rolling Stone magazine.

According to TMZ, Christina has some great plans for her 2007 world tour. She has come up with a couple of names for the tour including: 'The Baby Jane Tour' and 'Back To Basics'. Also it reported that she struggled LIKE MAD when she had to record the last part of 'Mercy On Me', where she belts really loudly using scratch vocals. Bet she won't be able to do that the same on tour, but I still luv her! :-)

Hey everyone, I'm from St Louis in Missouri, but am studying over in Japan. Thought I'd give you all an update on Xtina's new album sales. Well my story is probably gonna sound the same as TALLY-HO'S, but every single music store in Tokyo that I have been to are TOTALLY SOLD OUT. All the music shops informed me that they would call me as soon as more copies came in, but the sales guy told me that they had 21,000 copies on 08/9 and by 08/11 they only had 4 copies left!!

I also have a UK Soundscan account and the only thing that is a little weird with those figures are the Australia & UK figures. Xtina has sold 143,922 copies of 'Back To Basics' in the UK and 96,042 copies in Australia & New Zealand.
Still Christina has sold close to 300,000 copies in the USA... amazing!

Yup.. according to a British fan site, Christina's album is predicted to shift around 360,000 copies in it'f first week for USA. Not that great I must say... I have checked on an aussie fan site and Christina's album has shipped 150,000 copies ONLY in Australia (and that was in the first five days of release). The only figure listed for New Zealand is 66,000 copies that have been shipped.

I heard tha\t actually RCA want 'Hurt' to be the next single. I think that is a good idea, as a completely different song to 'Aint No Other Man' I think IT should succeed! I love this album, I find this album is totally different to what I expected when heard she was going jazz. But its like jazz with a modern twist. ITs TOTALLY different to any other songs out there. I prefer disc 1 myself with favourites - Aint No Other Man, Slow Down Baby, Without You, Still Dirrty, Here To Stay. Disc 2 is great, I think Nasty Naughty Boy is good but I think it dosent really stand out compared to many others and its hard to listen to it without thinking about skipping a track! I still think its great and would give it 9/10 because, if in the mood, i can really enjoy it! :)

In the USA, the album has sold close to 375,000 copies, so it's exceeded industry expectations. Apologies for my last entry, as first week sales for the USA were incorrect and they have now been amended on Soundscan. According to their site, 'Back To Basics' shifted 342,000 copies. I must say that I'm quite dissapointed at this figure, considering people like Mary J Blige (who is equally as talented) sold 730,000 copies of her latest album in it's first week.

Just checked SOUNDSCAN and 'Back To Basics' sales have been updated. According to this mornings figures, the album has no shifted 348,622 copies in the USA.

Is that up to date? I really don't think it is, because that would mean that only 6,000 have shifted in this past 3 or 4 days! It was in the 340,000's at the end of last week! WHY ISN'T THIS SELLING MORE?!

Wikipedia is a crap source for record sales; they lie and just make up figures. For real 'Back To Basics' has sold 650,000 copies worldwide. I don't know where 2 million came from, but it's not true. Whatever though, Christina has sold the most and her album number 1 all over the world (meaning united world chart).

Not that it wasn't expected, but her music just captivates every emotion and thought a girl has ever experienced or thought about through life. The albulm is a liberating experience and i highly recommend EVERY gal scoop it up.

Princess Kimberley, Wikipedia didn't put 2 million. They put 620,000, so why are you saying its a bad source when your agreeing with it. SOUNDSCAN say 2 million, which is hard to believe. I think Wikipedia is more correct because 2 million is way too high! Even with digital sales!

Britney has sold over 85 millions albums (except singles), is the biggest selling female of 2000s, has the top 3 first week sales records, has been the biggest star on earth, the most searched on web,had her own star on Hollywood walk of fame and has an empire with a mindblowing popularity and success.. I don't even listen to much pop music and I've never been a fan of Christina Aguilera before, but I saw some MTV special on Back 2 Basics and her singing the new songs and was really impressed. So I picked up a copy of the album and I'm glad I did. It's great and her singing is amazing. None of the other pop divas can do what she can do.

wikipedia says 615,000 sold worldwide (not including downloads) but they don't give an exact date for that count

I like this album but I really see it not doing aswell as it was hoped. First week sales were dissapointing and the album is slowly slipping down the charts! I reckon it will only sell <5 Million. Beyonce's album has sold 700,000 before release in america. Christina hasn't even had half of that a week after release! I like this girl and her voice is spectacular but this album will probably not reach 10 Million! Hopefully more singles will increase sales. This is a good album that should be doing better.

DJ PREMO, THE GREAT produced some tracks on this album, so at least those will be classic. This man is a legend and I think it is real cool that she appreciates his style. I have only heard "Back in the Day" and "Aint no other man", but those are both classic tracks, hands down. BTW, lets get this straight, right now. This is "REAL MUSIC", no point in the silly Brittany compare and contrast. Brittany Spears is a studio creation and a live preformer, not singer. More of a dancer. She is a pop star, bottom line. Heard Beyonce's album, and it sucks! And that's an understatement.

This just in. Beyonce is on pace to sell 600,000 copies according to hitsdailydouble. WTF?! Freakin ridiculous.

Can I all remind you that this website is dedicated to the discussion of Christina Aguilera's latest album 'Back To Basics'. 'Bday' is an OK album, but I think we all know that 'Back To Basics' is alot stronger and will have MUCH MORE staying power in the charts.

I have some information (for all of you who are interested) about 'Back To Basics' record sales. According to SOUNDSCAN and the UNITED WORLD CHART, Christina's album has sold a total of:
1,342,628 COPIES (1.35 million approx). That is really good considering it hasn't even been released a month yet.

Yeah, I totally agree; Christina's album will have more staying power in the long-run and overall, I think it's a much stronger album both musically and lyrically. Plus the album has so much diversity. Anyway this discussion isn't a comparison between Christina and Beyonce; it's just about CHRISTINA! I was searching for a place where I could buy Christina's CD and happened to come across this page. No offence to all you fans, but why do you care how many copies she sells? Just an update on Christina's world tour. It's apparently going to begin in Europe, moving onto Asia, Australia and then US. It will begin around August 2007 and last for 4 months. It's going to be VERY theatrical and will have a clear jazz/vintage feel to it. I'm guessing it'll be called 'The Baby Jane Tour'... but who knows, Ms. Aguilera is full of suprises!

I have OFFICIAL news on Christina Aguilera's 'Back To Basics' tour. I got the information from BILLBOARD, which is a reputable source. Christina will begin touring from mid-November 2006-Christmas time 2006 (in the UK). 'AEG' is promoting Christina & Justin's tour (however they ARE NOT touring together). A separate tour in the USA will begin in February 2007 and is still being routed. Will update as soon as I know more.

Christina has just been on Australian news update and she's coming to Aussie land in April 2007 to tour, so maybe she's doing UK, USA, Australia & Asia. I think she should start the tour in Summer 2007 (to give the album a chance to reach it's max. publicity). It's stupid starting a tour 3 months after releasing an album-she will suffer from ticket sales, as you can't expect everyone to buy thr album within 3 months.

I personally love Christina Aguilera's new style. I think it's the best CD she has ever made because you can feel her soul and passion come out in her songs. It's very emotional and it really brings out her true self. I have always loved her and I am so glad that she continues to sing meaningful lyrics that are definitely worth listening to. She is the best female artist out there, hands down!

Yes Christina is one of the best singers out right now, but I do agree with the people who say she never learns how to control her voice. On all of her performances she's always wants to oversing the sung, by randomly singing high notes, or singing the same note like 80 times. She just needs to calm down a bit, just sing the song and then at the end, she can sing the high notes.

I love Christina's album. She is, by far the best singer of our generation (I'm 21 yrs). Her voice is beyond amazing! The album is beautiful. I love Hurt and Candyman, but I really hope she releases Understand as a single; that's one of my favorites.

I'm glad the album is doing well. I really thought she got cheated with Stripped. It was a phenomenal album as well. But I think her new uber-sexy image turned people off and that sucks because that album had some great songs and messages. But she really sold well overseas. They know what music is over there! I read somewhere that her album (B2B I mean) is number one in almost a dozen countries!

I'm glad she's back. There are so many crapass "singers" out there right now. They are track-artists. They get their fame from catchy songs but they really can't carry a tune (Rihanna and Cassie just to name a few). But Christina is the real deal. I can't wait for her next tour to hit the US. I'm definitely going! I got Stripped: Live in the UK on DVD and her concert was great! I wonder if she and Justin will tour together again? That would be awesome!

I love Beyonce but her first solo tour was boring. There wasn't much substance to it. I haven't bought B'Day yet, mainly because I get so many mixed reviews from people. A lot say they like it, but just as many say it sucks. My sister bought it though, so I'll just make a copy. And Justin? Whoo! My album is on its way here now! It's been back ordered from Best Buy since its release! I love him too! This has been an awesome year for music; lots of big names.

I have followed Xtina's career with growing admiration. She has always had an amazing voice, and now she is gradually learning how to use it. I reckon Xtina has a few more albums to go before she finally finds herself and reaches her full potential ... but it will be worth the wait.
