May 21, 2006Christina Aguilera - Back to Basics AlbumThis "Back to Basics" album seems like an iffy idea for Christina Aguilera, she's always had a solid voice but never learned to use it with discipline.. maybe on this "retro" project she's picked up the understanding of dynamics and such that sets old-school vocalists apart from her. Christina Aguilera's New Back to Basics Album: Some Jazz, Some Hip-Hop Soul ... And Some Burlesque Posted by jsmooth995 at May 21, 2006 10:59 AM CommentsI can't wait for this album. I luv her new song "Ain't No Other Man" already. It's finally something different to listen to instead of listening to new artists coming out with the same material that other artists write! Posted by: Ken-E at June 15, 2006 1:35 PM I've been waiting for what seems like forever, and now it's almost here. The time when Christina (x-tina, as i like to call her) releases another wonderful album for me to spend months listening to. I already have the first single. And I have the MP3 saved in my phone so I can listen to it whenever the song pop's into my head, which is all the damn time!! Can't wait for the new Vid to launch! LOVE YA X-TINA!! Posted by: chris at June 17, 2006 4:58 PM Xtina is flawless and back better and stronger than ever.....i heard about 10 songs from the new album and boy is this a hand full of hot shit!!! GO GET BACK TO BASICS ON AUGUST 15th 2006 Posted by: Janina at June 23, 2006 7:38 PM i can't WAIT for this album to come out! it sounds like another fantastic album! i absoloutley love her new song 'ain't no other man' & the video to its amazing! Posted by: Louise Donnelly at June 24, 2006 5:19 AM OMG I have been wearin the stripped album out for all this time....waiting and waiting for another album! Christina is definitely the best singer and performer out there right now...anyone who disagrees is just hating or is deaf!!!!! And I'm right there with ya on what u said JSMOOTH!!! Posted by: Jazz at June 24, 2006 12:04 PM I was rather dissapointed when i herd the new single. To be honest iv always been a bit of a Britney fan (I just feel she is a better performer-just my opinion). However i have always secretly enjoyed the 'fresh sounds that Cristina puts out. Stripped was hands down one of the best albums of last year. However there was nothing that made this new track 'Aint no other man' stand out from a corny Jessica Simpson track. Im sure it will be a hit, but i didnt wait over a year for a 'average' pop/blues track! Thumbs Down X-tina Posted by: Adam at June 26, 2006 9:47 AM I stopped reading after the "To be honest iv always been a bit of a Britney fan." That right that says a lot about WHY you wouldn't appreciate real vocal and song-writing talent as much as other music fans might. Posted by: John at June 27, 2006 1:04 AM Oh wow, I don't know what you've been listening to to not appreciate the immense amount of talent that Chritstina Aguilera pocesses, but I feel bad for you. Like every great new song, it takes a while of listening to really enjoy it, and her new song is no exception. Most people automatically fear what is new to them and reject it... if that's your case then listen to it a bit more before being so harsh. But try to remember, if she didn't truly respect the music that was coming out on her new album, it probably wouldn't be on there. So sorry that she was being to risque for your taste in trying something different and that it "disapointed you". If you don't have anything nice to say, then restrain yourself from saying it because it takes alot of talent to get where she is and no one who respects her talents wants to listen to someone who in "just my opinion" says "thumbs down". Besides that, the cd sounds like it's going to be a show stopper and I can't wait, she's one of my favorite artists. Hope everyone enjoys :) Posted by: Christa at June 27, 2006 12:12 PM As talented as Xtina is, I still think she needs to learn how to tame and discipline her voice. I didn't really like her new single; there's nothing unique or catchy about it. I was kind of thrown off by how she randomly belted a note in between the song (which is nothing new coming from her, but I wish she would stop that already). I just find it very annoying. Some of you people need to stop making a big deal if some of us aren't praising Xtina's voice. Yes, she's talented, but she needs to control her voice and maybe show a bit more modesty. It's great that she's comfortable about her sexuality and is all about "girl power," but sometimes it's too over the top and self-centered to me. Just my opinion. Posted by: BBB at June 28, 2006 11:13 AM wot idiot sed dat "This "Back to Basics" album seems like an iffy idea for Christina Aguilera, she's always had a solid voice but never learned to use it with discipline.. maybe on this "retro" project she's picked up the understanding of dynamics and such that sets old-school vocalists apart from her." U R A TRUE IDIOT!!!! NEVER LEARNED TO USE HER VOICE WIT DISIPLINE WTF!!! HAVE U NT HEARD HER!!! MORON! Posted by: ME!! at June 28, 2006 4:53 PM xtina is pure talent, and she has proven 2 the world that she has what it takes to sing in the company of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, etta james and alot more. She has amazing harmonies and wide vocal range that could CAUSE AN EARTHQUAKE. You can truly see she has matured as a woman a person and as a singer. Stripped was an amazing album with incredible vocals, and now she comes back stronger...U go Chris....DO YO' THANG HONEY!!!!! Posted by: Breatha at June 29, 2006 5:34 AM wow, I cannot WAIT 4 back to basics to drop. Like many others I agree that Stripped was arguably the best album of the year! Her latest offering sounds amazing, very different to what Christina has done before but incorporating themes that she's always flirted with (for example, the jazzy concept in the video to "Tilt Ya Head Back" with Nelly a while back). Chris ur an amazing singer, awesome talent and strong role model, and an inspiration for girls (and guys, I guess!) everywhere. GO X-TINA!!! Posted by: Louise xXx at June 29, 2006 9:51 AM ah, yall boi all excited 4 her new shyt, but all i got 2 say is dat bitch, can take it in the pussy hard! check out her home porn video at www.eazygurlz.com. ENJOY!!! Posted by: jr at June 30, 2006 7:26 PM I cant wait for the new cd for all the a holes out there dissing her are the ones who are too immature to understand that artist grow up too you cant expect her to be singing songs like genie in a bottle yes it was great and i still love it now but i am 27 and have been a fan since she came out but its good that as we (the artist and fans) grow older so does the music Posted by: stayci at July 2, 2006 12:06 PM the first single is quite good but id put more beats into it. i cant wait for the album to be on store shelves. Posted by: kyvs at July 3, 2006 1:33 PM yea i think that christina is amazing. and she really is extremly talented, and certainly not fake.. like some other female artists out there-- not mentioning any names (hilary duff) Posted by: wudup at July 3, 2006 11:22 PM I've been wating forever for this album to be released... it sounds like shes finally doing something different with her music. It's the old "x-tina" but with a "retro" twist. I love her single "Aint no other man"...and "I got trouble" sounds like its going to be great... can't wait. Posted by: Alli W at July 5, 2006 4:05 PM Hi everyone, No other song out right now sounds as good as Ain't no other man. Yes christina sings high notes and belts out but that's why i love her. If i've feeling stressed i put her records on - sing my guts out and feel so much better. I can't wait until Back to Basics hits the UK. Posted by: Martyn at July 6, 2006 5:16 AM i love christina aguilera sooo much i honeslty think that she is the best singer/ writer out there and will always be! shes unbelieveable! people who think that she sucks or her new single sucks i would like to see u do something that will top that and will be in the TOP 5 list... i highly doubt that you will be able to so shut up and listen becuase there are not that many people out in the famous world with talent... shes got!!! I LOVE YOU CHRISTINA!!! Posted by: Nicky at July 13, 2006 4:04 PM ive heard some clips and think this album is gonna be great. i think compared to most other female artists around these days that sells she has one of the most powerful voices out of all of them. i do hope she goes back to some songs which were on stripped for album number 4 and doesnt stick with the retro, but i think its a good change and it will be a hugeee album! there'll be a lot of media attention on it and should do very well in the charts. and when shes on tour it will sound amazing live! Posted by: xtina at July 24, 2006 4:43 AM Tell you what, with a free acapella doing the rounds of "Aint No Other Man" someone somewhere better go absolutely off the clock with a remix. Vocals are top notch and the beat is jazzy as hell. Just needs to get more raw, foot to the floor for it to really rock some clubs. Posted by: Quavah at July 24, 2006 8:07 AM XTINA really needs to stop oversinging. OK she's proven that she has a voice. STOP trying to hit every note on the scale. I agree with the individuals stating that this new song is not really different or new from what we've heard in the past. I was a fan of hers when she first came out, but I grew tired of her voice and lack of original material. Again, this is a sign of regurgitated material. Posted by: Joe Sanchez at July 24, 2006 1:21 PM I don't know what ya'll are talking about, but critics are already calling Back to Basics the Album of the year. Posted by: Giselle at August 3, 2006 9:58 PM p.s. make sure you bastards buy it when it comes out. when people make something this quality they deserve good sales. we as consumers are fed all sorts of mediocre albums usually consisting of two singles and ten fillers it's no wonder we download most things but this truely is an instant classic r'n'b hip hop record. they've really made an effort on this so please those that are impatient enjoy the download but when it comes out buy the damn thing. A lot of other singers are putting out albums in the month of August as well, but only one true artist is and that is Christina. That girl is so fearless when it comes about her song writting, the genres of music that she plays with, her image, and so on. She is a true artist and I am so refreshed to hear some music that you can tell actually took time to develop. Nowadays too many singers go for the club banger, for sure hit songs, to get in the race, but at the finish line only a few artists will be there, and Christina is one of them! She will be around for years to come...and will keep gracing us with her gift of song! So sorry to all the haters out there better turn the radio and tv off because there is so much more of her to come in the very near future bitches! Posted by: Jessica at August 6, 2006 9:17 PM I finally have BACK TO BASICS! My friend in Ireland bought 2 copies and sent one to me in New York and it arrived yesterday! I have to give the album an 8/10, because it's pretty darn good. Most songs (like 95%) are really good, but there are some occasional classical, violin element shockers that I wasn't really expecting Christina to do as they are not blues, soul, jazz, pop or even R&B influenced. Nevertheless, I hope first week sales soar, as this album is very high quality... I mean 22 songs! I think these are the tracks that will be make the biggest impact on fans: Back In The Day, Makes Me Wanna Pray (sounds like an Aretha song!), Slow Down Baby, Understand, Oh Mother, Without You, Candyman, On Our Way & Still Dirrty. Posted by: Daisy Jones at August 11, 2006 4:24 AM I HAVE NEWS OF RECORD SALES FOR BACK TO BASICS! Posted by: Baby Jane Fan at August 11, 2006 4:29 AM Christina is great. she is the best singing talent out there right now. i like the fact that this album is different from what 'hot' right now. i love the fact that she does whatever is best for her as an artist, not wat is best for sell. dont get me wrong, this album will probably be a great seller, but its so different from what you hear today. she amasing and i lover new song, i cant wait for the album to come out. please buy her album out Aug 15. Christian ROCKS! and HOOK 'EM HORNS. Posted by: HOOK 'EM HORNS at August 12, 2006 4:08 PM THIS IS FOR THE PEOPLE THAT SAID SHE OVERSINGS. dont hate the fact that she can sing and you cant. if she oversings is because she can, not a lot of singers out there can do that. yeah biatches. haha. Posted by: paola at August 12, 2006 4:21 PM I don't know anybody can NOT appreciate a singer like Christina, I mean come on, when people like Hilary Duff and even Paris Hilton can get a record deal and make an album, and yet they CANNOT sing worth a damn, it makes me appreciate Christina even more, because like her or not, the girl can sing and is probably the best the music world has to offer right now. I happen to love her, and the fact that she's not afraid to take chances and do something different. I've listened to the whole album, and will definately be buying it on Tuesday, and thought it was great, she sounds better then ever. Whoever said Britney Spears is a better perfomer, needs a reality check, look at where Britney is now, she's too busy popping out babies and supporting a loser of a husband. and every album she came out with sounded the same, boring with no originality. Christina is a real talent and it's about time that she starts getting the respect she deserves!! Posted by: chickee411 at August 13, 2006 3:49 PM I downloaded the whole album when it leaked on line.God Knows I am going to be buying it for sure. Posted by: Luis at August 16, 2006 12:47 PM CHRISTINA AGUILERA 'BACK TO BASICS' SALES UPDATE: According to SOUNDSCAN records this morning, the album has shifted 822,430 copies worldwide already, which is pretty amazing! The album has sold 188,000 copies in the USA since it's Tuesday morning release and according to reports, the album is predicted to sell anywhere between 380,000 and 600,000 in it's first week (in the US) based on it's first day sales of 73,000 copies! In answer to LUIS' question... Posted by: Baby Jane Fan at August 17, 2006 8:54 AM CHRISTINA AGUILERA RECORD SALES (WORLDWIDE): Christina Aguilera: 16 MILLION At the moment, Christina has sold around 40 MILLION records, so ignore the previous 32 figure and I don't know why TRL keep saying 25 MILLION, when it's significantly more than that. In about a year, I bet her sales will be up 10 MILLION to around the 50 MILLION mark. Posted by: Baby Jane Fan at August 17, 2006 9:00 AM Whatever Christina will never be as talented as Britney, I mean the girl has sold WAY MORE records than this so called 'Baby Jane'. Britney has sold around 90 MILLION albums and singles... it's like nearly 50 MILLION more! Posted by: BRITNEY ROCKS! at August 17, 2006 9:03 AM Aguilera sold 40 million albums? In your ass! Mi Reflejo - 5 million? A Total joke. The other albums numbers: all inflated. Got get a life. Stripped - 9 million. This is the OFFICIAL number from her label. Posted by: xuxa at August 17, 2006 9:06 AM I'm from the UK and after going to Top Of The Pops website, Christina's new album has sold 212,844 copies in the UK since Monday... pretty good, but I reckon her sales will soar. It was released on Monday here and by that afternoon at 3pm... HMV in London were completely sold out and they told me they had ordered 12,000 copies. That's alot! Posted by: UK BABE at August 17, 2006 9:08 AM Dear XUXA, there really isn't any need to be so aggressive... if you go to CHRISTINA AGUILERA DISCOGRAPHY AT WIKIPEDIA.COM, that is where the inf is listed and it cites it's sources as SNY BMG, which I believe is her labels parent company. Do the math and you'll see sales near the 40M mark. Posted by: Baby Jane Fan at August 17, 2006 9:11 AM Ok, I have just checked on SOUNDSCAN for Christina Aguilera worldwide record sales and this is what I found (it's official, as it's source is the SONY BMG Distribution Center)... NOTE: THESE SALES ARE WORLDWIDE (NOT JUST U.S.) 'Christina Aguilera': 12,641,941 COPIES Her total worldwide single sales (Genie In A Bottle-Aint No Other Man) total: 3,240,866 COPIES CHRISTINA'S TOTAL WORLDWIDE RECORD SALES (1998-2006): 31 MILLION (approx). This figure will probably climb about 7-10 million within a year. Posted by: Delilah Jones at August 17, 2006 9:29 AM That sounds bout right.. but her worldwide singles must be more.. as 'Beatiful' sold 1 million copies worldwide and 'Aint no other man' sold over half a million like you said; that's already 1.5 million. I thought it would be nearer the 4-5 million mark. Anywayz well done Xtina.. love ya! xoxo Posted by: Danny Boy at August 17, 2006 9:33 AM 'Back To Basics' rocks! Christina is doin really well these days... can u please tell me all Britney spears records sales worldwide??? please!!!! Posted by: Luis at August 17, 2006 1:01 PM Luis are you crazy? Sure Britney has done a lot and sold more records. Christina is way more vocally and musically talented! The only reason you probably like Britney is because you dress in drag and dance to preform to her! Look at the facts Christina writes and co produces all her stuff. Look what happened when Britney tried (E-mail my heart) what crap! Plus look at Britney now. Being from the same southern US myself I'm ashamed of her. She is pure white trash! walking in public bathrooms barefooted, holding a baby with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth! Christina has her beat by far! Posted by: Chris at August 17, 2006 3:14 PM Britney dont co-produced EMAIL MY HEART!! she has write a lot of songs: Everytime, Shadow, Breathe on me, me against the music, Lonely, What is like to be me, let me be, that were you take me and more... Maybe Britney has not better voice then Christina, but Britney has a strong presence on stage and shes like Wow!! i like Britney, u like Christina, can u respect that??? and that image of Britney is sooo yesterday... shes a good mon, and a worldwide phenomenon! i dont care what some people thinks... However it just disappoints me that this is a discussion on Christina Aguilera and Back to Basics, and for some reason you need to come chime in the conversation on why Britney is better and how she has sold more records. You searched and found a discussion about Christina. I respect your musical taste completely were all individuals, but go find a discussion about britney and her cd sales! Posted by: Chris at August 17, 2006 4:09 PM I think her new album is absolutely amazing. I think the best tracks are: Makes Me Wanna Pray, Back In The Day, Oh Mother, On Our Way, Without You, Candyman, Slow Down Baby, Ain't No Other Man, Understand, Still Dirrty and Understand. Not bad considering I love half of the album. Think there's something for everyone on here, but I just can't get into; Here To Stay, Mercy On Me and I really don't like The Right Man. Any views on specific tracks anyone? Posted by: Sharon at August 17, 2006 4:19 PM Yeah I agree with Sharon... the tracks 'Here To Stay' and 'The Right Man' just don't seem to suit Christina's voice and style. Most of this album is great, but I don't get why people keep calling 'On Our Way a 'filler'?! It's a really good song with a catchy chorus and great beat. 'Back In The Day' has an amazing beat and it's so innovative! 'Makes Me Wanna Pray' rocks too! Apparently Aretha Franklin heard the album and loves it too according to Rolling Stone magazine. Posted by: Johnny at August 17, 2006 4:23 PM omg you guys have to be kidding? why are u tlking about britney spears and of all the shat she has put out 'email my heart' has to be the worst song ever!! this thread is about christina.. not fat britney xoxo Posted by: whatchalukinat? at August 17, 2006 4:25 PM According to TMZ, Christina has some great plans for her 2007 world tour. She has come up with a couple of names for the tour including: 'The Baby Jane Tour' and 'Back To Basics'. Also it reported that she struggled LIKE MAD when she had to record the last part of 'Mercy On Me', where she belts really loudly using scratch vocals. Finally some REAL music, sung with soul and emotion. ATTENTION LUIS: This convo is about Christina, not fat ass Britney. All these numbers are fake so dont believe them...stop lying people because it makes christina look worse in the end Posted by: king at August 20, 2006 5:01 AM I also have a UK Soundscan account and the only thing that is a little weird with those figures are the Australia & UK figures. Xtina has sold 143,922 copies of 'Back To Basics' in the UK and 96,042 copies in Australia & New Zealand. Posted by: Arabella at August 20, 2006 5:45 AM Yup.. according to a British fan site, Christina's album is predicted to shift around 360,000 copies in it'f first week for USA. Not that great I must say... I mean in comparison and I hate doing this, but how can the untalented Ms Spears shift 610,000 copies in a week when she's tone deaf? So not fair! :-( Posted by: Jackie at August 20, 2006 5:50 AM Hey ppl... leave BABY JANE FAN alone.. she was nearly right (it's easy to get confused on SOUNDSCAN as there are millions of lists!) I have checked on an aussie fan site and Christina's album has shipped 150,000 copies ONLY in Australia (and that was in the first five days of release). The only figure listed for New Zealand is 66,000 copies that have been shipped. Posted by: Down Under... at August 20, 2006 5:53 AM I loved Christina! When i was a little girl I would sit and listen to her music and try to imitate her voice but it doesn't work...she's just too good. Her Back to the basics album is rockin! Its like that era of the hollywood glam has returned and she's here to show us we don't have to sing like paris hilton to be successful because thats just bullshit those losers can't even sing and their singles are out there, what crap. The music industry should actually put people out there who CAN SING I'm like wtf? People like Hilary duff and Lindsay lohan are releasing albums and shit like what the fuck? Reeal talent is like Christina now thats the shit. Fuckin stupid hoes out there right now can't be a tenth as good. GO CHRISTINA! Posted by: Alee Jay at August 20, 2006 9:47 AM And to the people who said "Ain't no other man" sounds like a corny Jessica simpson song...psh Jessica simpson can't even sing like that, She doesn't even know that type of style. psh...morons. Thankyou! BTW- I have Back to Basics and it rocks its my favourite album at the moment and its better than stripped in my opinion! Posted by: sam at August 20, 2006 3:30 PM FOR ALEE JAY - On the second disc it takes a look at a photoshoot, behind the scenes at the recording studio with DJ premier and Linda Perry and it takes a look at the filming of the video of 'Aint no other man'. It dosent contain any music videos or anything or any performances. Its good but not to much to get excited about!!! (BACK TO BASICS IS NUMBER 1 IN THE UK! Does anyone know if Hurt or Candyman will be her next single! ) Posted by: sam at August 20, 2006 3:37 PM Yes, can someone please post the REAL numbers? Posted by: Evie at August 21, 2006 12:44 AM I have the following info on her album sales: 'Back To Basics' went straight to no.1 in the all the following countries: UK, Swizterland, Ireland, Germany & Australia (in the same week!) So far, the album has sold 341,822 copies in the USA and according to SOUNDSCAN, worldwide sales of the album (both CD format and digital) has exceeded 2 million, so whoever said that wasn't lying. Hope this helps! Posted by: Ally Baby at August 21, 2006 5:30 AM Thanx, wow go christina! It's fantastic that in less than 2 weeks from release its sold over 2 million! Thats great, she does deserve it. I know britney has sold many, many more millions of records but britney has done 4 albums and a greatest hits and has relied on other writers to get the best songs like toxic, baby one more time, oops! and so on. She is also very popular in Asia in which Christina isnt that much! I used to be a raving britney fan but let me down with the horrible tour where she only sang live on 2 songs, a sex-influenced album of trashy electronic music and then the whole marrige thing and babies popping out of her and the smoking and her drinking! Christina is sensible and uses live instruments co-writes ALL of her songs (yes, even the good ones!) and produces and composes her albums where she shows a brand new image and an ever-improving voice! Posted by: sam at August 21, 2006 9:37 AM The album has definately surpassed the 1.5 million mark, but not sure about 2.2 million in just 2 weeks? Christina has had the highest debut all year though, as her album has gone to number 1 in 5 countries in only a week! Posted by: Joanna at August 21, 2006 1:02 PM I LOVE THIS ALBUM!! GO XTINA As to the confusion on album sales I think it may be because some places may count the digital purchases and some may not. I dunno all I know is that I wanna see the REAL numbers soon! Posted by: Evie at August 21, 2006 1:37 PM Candyman hasn't been confirmed yet! MTV.com and Rolling Stones have said it, but RCA and Christina haven't. Posted by: Giselle at August 21, 2006 1:38 PM I heard tha\t actually RCA want 'Hurt' to be the next single. I think that is a good idea, as a completely different song to 'Aint No Other Man' I think IT should succeed! PLUS it is my favourite ballad of the whole album. Then after the sales will have slowly gone down later this year she will release 'Candyman' and the sales of the album with increase with a blast! Posted by: sam at August 21, 2006 2:33 PM Like I said in the previous posts, RCA and Christina are thinking about releasing Hurt. So whatever she will be performing at the VMAs will be her next single. Ashanti sold 500,000 for her debut album. Beyonce sold 113,000 copies in the first week in the UK. Oops! I Did It Again sold 1.3 million, Britney sold 769,000, and In the Zone sold 609,000 in their first weeks. Back to Basics almost 350,000. WTF?! Posted by: Giselle at August 21, 2006 3:04 PM I cant belive the only thing christina's album topped if beyonce! Ashanti - 500,000 and then 1.3 mil for oops! Over 600,00 for In the Zone! WTH - thinking about xtinas is pretty low compared to britney but then again britney's bubblegum pop anthems appeal to more people! kids, who haven't experienced real music! Posted by: sam at August 21, 2006 4:06 PM Shes number 1 in the U.K, Australia, Swizterland, Ireland, Netherlands and we are eagerly awaiting for the U.S chart on Thursday to see if she is #1. If she is she and madonna will be the only female artists to have a #1 in U.S.A,U.K and Australia at the same time! WOW! PLUS she is number 2 in Estonia and New Zealand and #3 in Italy. We are still awaiting for the chart position of USA,Canada,Greece,Philippines,Brazil,Mexico,Austria,Finland,Sweden and France.WOW! Ive heard that in the U.S.A its sold approximately 360,000 which isnt bad! Posted by: sam at August 22, 2006 5:41 AM Actually it isnt #1 in switzerland it is still a new release SORRY! Can't you just be happy for Britney AND Christina!?? Back to Basics is SO GOOD.Just admit it and stop the bullshit fighting and nastiness towards Christina. She deserves Praise for this and you know it. Posted by: Juicy at August 22, 2006 11:38 AM I love this album, I find this album is totally different to what I expected when heard she was going jazz. But its like jazz with a modern twist. ITs TOTALLY different to any other songs out there. I prefer disc 1 myself with favourites - Aint No Other Man, Slow Down Baby, Without You, Still Dirrty, Here To Stay. Disc 2 is great, I think Nasty Naughty Boy is good but I think it dosent really stand out compared to many others and its hard to listen to it without thinking about skipping a track! I still think its great and would give it 9/10 because, if in the mood, i can really enjoy it! :) Posted by: sam at August 22, 2006 12:12 PM According to Soundscan, the album has sold a little under 1.9 million copies worlwide (both CD and digital format). In the USA, the album has sold close to 375,000 copies, so it's exceeded industry expectations. These are pretty promising figures, and as an estimate Christina has already earned close to $6 million from these sales (she gets $3 for every album she sells). Hope this informs! xoxo Posted by: Joanna at August 22, 2006 4:23 PM Someone said she gets $2 per album. Sorry, but 375,000 isn't that big. Just look at Britney Spears, Usher, Norah Jones, Limp Bizkit, BSB, and Nsync. They've all managed to sell over 1 million in one week. And Christina's a better singer than all of them. Posted by: Giselle at August 22, 2006 6:06 PM LImp Biskit! Really? I can understand why brt=itney, n sync and the baskstreet boys have because there sugary sweet pop that gets into everyones head! I know Norah Jones has and Usher but Limp Biskit? Posted by: sam at August 23, 2006 3:57 AM Apologies for my last entry, as first week sales for the USA were incorrect and they have now been amended on Soundscan. According to their site, 'Back To Basics' shifted 342,000 copies. I must say that I'm quite dissapointed at this figure, considering people like Mary J Blige (who is equally as talented) sold 730,000 copies of her latest album in it's first week. WORLDWIDE SALES (CD & DIGITAL): 2 MILLION COPIES Christina does gets $3 per album, as it was proven in a court document when she sued the label who released her unoffical album 'Just Be Free'. Posted by: Joanna at August 23, 2006 11:50 AM OMG! I have to say that I am too very shocked at first week sales for the USA... 342,000 copies?! Considering we have close to 300 million people living in the USA, it's pretty bad. I hate to compare, but to put this figure into perspective, look at what fellow artists have sold in a week... MARY J BLIGE: 727,000 COPIES Posted by: Damien at August 23, 2006 12:11 PM Wow.Thanks for the numbers!Go Christina!I'm so happy for her.She deserves all this success and praise.I can't wait to see her on tour. She still managed to sell at least 600,000 albums each time. Posted by: Giselle at August 23, 2006 8:06 PM Aguilera's album reached number 1 in the United States [7], United Kingdom [8][9], Germany [10], The Netherlands [11], Australia [12], Canada [13], Switzerland [14], and Ireland [15] in the same week. The album has a first week sales of 346,000 copies [7] in the United States. This makes Aguilera the second artist after Madonna to have a number 1 album on the Australian, U.S. and U.K. charts at the same time. Christina opened with her second U.S. #1 and the highest first-week sales by a female artist in 2006. [7] Back to Basics is Christina's first number 1 album in the UK. None of her previous albums have reached the top position; Stripped reached number 2 in 2003. [16] Posted by: Xtina_fan at August 23, 2006 8:16 PM Does anyone know how I can subscribe to Soundscan? I don't see any prices for the packages. Posted by: Giselle at August 24, 2006 1:07 AM I agree Lara, Christina does what she does for her, we know that its going to sell alot. Christina said she dosent care if she dosent sell 2 records! Shes had grammys and has the respect Britney dosent! Posted by: sam at August 24, 2006 3:12 AM Do you think that this album will continue to stay near the top in UK/USA/AUS or do you think it will slide down the charts like 'Stripped'. It is still #1 on Amazon in the USA and the album is still selling but in the UK its gone down to #9 today in the amazon charts! Im not sure whether it will actually sell 10 million! 'Stripped' went 4*Platinum in the USA and sold 2 million in the UK which is amazing. Will 'Back to Basics' do the same? Posted by: sam at August 24, 2006 6:11 AM Just checked SOUNDSCAN and 'Back To Basics' sales have been updated. According to this mornings figures, the album has no shifted 348,622 copies in the USA. I don't know where 2 million came from, but it's not true. Whatever though, Christina has sold the most and her album number 1 all over the world (meaning united world chart). Posted by: Princess Kimberly at August 27, 2006 3:48 PM Hurt is officially the next single! Posted by: Giselle at August 27, 2006 7:50 PM I've recently picked up Christina Aguilera's new albulm, and by far it is an amazing piece of work. Not that it wasn't expected, but her music just captivates every emotion and thought a girl has ever experienced or thought about through life. The albulm is a liberating experience and i highly recommend EVERY gal scoop it up. Posted by: Christina at August 27, 2006 11:29 PM Princess Kimberley, Wikipedia didn't put 2 million. They put 620,000, so why are you saying its a bad source when your agreeing with it. SOUNDSCAN say 2 million, which is hard to believe. I think Wikipedia is more correct because 2 million is way too high! Even with digital sales! Posted by: sam at August 28, 2006 4:52 AM Stop meaningless comparisons.. Britney has sold over 85 millions albums (except singles), is the biggest selling female of 2000s, has the top 3 first week sales records, has been the biggest star on earth, the most searched on web,had her own star on Hollywood walk of fame and has an empire with a mindblowing popularity and success.. She does not even have to release an album anymore i mean she already "did" it.. she did what madonna in 15 years.. Britney is the true defination of being a worldwide superstar with a huge house hold name.. The other singers have no such a huge popularity,no huge sales but have great voices (pink/aguilera) i mean they got their own different talents.. It's good to listen to them.. please dont make comparisons which are funny.. It's unnecessary.. Everybody got their own things.. Britney is the only one when it comes to star power and superstar appeal.. That's why others diss her to gain populairty.. Posted by: Gorky at August 28, 2006 12:34 PM Time/soundcan/wikipedia u can find the huge records of Britney everywhere.. Only her albums has sold over 85 millions.. She has also singles/dvds etc.. Shes lost all respect, i used to like britney but would now be laughed at if i thought she was so 'fantastic'. Christina is soooo much more talented and britneys fans are like little kids! I like britneys music but you cant count sales for everything! PLUS the only reasons shes the most searched at is because - shes all about the image. And Britneys a terrible rollmodel. It cant possibly be 615,000 because otherwize that would be a massive slump for saying it was released ages ago! PLease someone post some figures from SOUNDSCAN and not wikipedia. Posted by: *sam* at August 30, 2006 4:23 AM I like this album but I really see it not doing aswell as it was hoped. First week sales were dissapointing and the album is slowly slipping down the charts! I reckon it will only sell <5 Million. Beyonce's album has sold 700,000 before release in america. Christina hasn't even had half of that a week after release! I like this girl and her voice is spectacular but this album will probably not reach 10 Million! Hopefully more singles will increase sales. This is a good album that should be doing better. Posted by: s.jay at August 30, 2006 8:15 AM Sam wtf are you talking about...Beyonce has not sold 700,000...she will not top 346,000 the first week in the US in sales...learn to say THE TRUTH before you go spitting out random numbers and talking shit...and Christina is doing fine fool...an album doesnt sell the same each week...once the singles get released the album will pick up steam greatly like stripped did, DUH. Some of you seriously underestimate Christina to the point where you just need to STFU and get a life. The album will do fine, just wait and see. Posted by: king at August 30, 2006 7:27 PM DJ PREMO, THE GREAT produced some tracks on this album, so at least those will be classic. This man is a legend and I think it is real cool that she appreciates his style. I have only heard "Back in the Day" and "Aint no other man", but those are both classic tracks, hands down. BTW, lets get this straight, right now. This is "REAL MUSIC", no point in the silly Brittany compare and contrast. Brittany Spears is a studio creation and a live preformer, not singer. More of a dancer. She is a pop star, bottom line. She is done, for now. No disrespect to Beyonce or her fans, but go start another discussion about her SOMEWHERE ELSE. 'Bday' is an OK album, but I think we all know that 'Back To Basics' is alot stronger and will have MUCH MORE staying power in the charts. I have some information (for all of you who are interested) about 'Back To Basics' record sales. According to SOUNDSCAN and the UNITED WORLD CHART, Christina's album has sold a total of: Posted by: Rosie Posie at September 8, 2006 2:00 PM Well said ROSIE POSIE! You deserve a pat on the back! Yeah, I totally agree; Christina's album will have more staying power in the long-run and overall, I think it's a much stronger album both musically and lyrically. Plus the album has so much diversity. Anyway this discussion isn't a comparison between Christina and Beyonce; it's just about CHRISTINA! I can't wait to see her on tour, I'm sure she'll be great! :-) Posted by: DANNY BOY at September 8, 2006 2:04 PM So happy for Christina! I have just checked SOUNDSCAN and worldwide sales for 'Back To Basics' (both CD & digital) has reached 1.3 million copies. The album has only been released for like 4 weeks! All you doubters need to have faith... you all know that when they release more singles, the album will sell more and more, because of the increased publicity. I also found out that Christina gets $2 per album sold... so she's made like $5 million!! Biacth!! xoxo Posted by: Baby Tink at September 8, 2006 2:09 PM 'BACK TO BASICS' SALES: USA: 583,644 copies WORLDWIDE (CD & DIGITAL): 1.4 million copies Posted by: *Nic* at September 8, 2006 2:22 PM OMG! 1.3 million is amazing! After Hurt will be released it will sell loads and everyone i no loves Candyman which will be 3rd or 4th (even my bro who only listens to heavy rock!) so that will boost up sales! This will sell 8 Mill EASY! maybe even 10 or 12! Posted by: SaM at September 8, 2006 3:30 PM I was searching for a place where I could buy Christina's CD and happened to come across this page. No offence to all you fans, but why do you care how many copies she sells? It's not like any of you are going to benefit from it? I don't want to sound mean, but it's kinda sad talking about this. I mean record sales are for nerds and stalkers; plus they don't establish an artist. Staying power, awards and creativity do, which I believe Christina holds. Posted by: Bee at September 9, 2006 7:00 AM Bee, what's your problem? We are funs and are allowed to talk about everything and anything about Christina. Posted by: Giselle at September 9, 2006 10:26 PM I meant to say fans, not funs. LOL Posted by: Giselle at September 9, 2006 10:26 PM And actually sales do help artists, if britney only sold 1 million copies she wouldn't be still making music! I just bought B'Day and I absolutley love it! It's great, I still think Christina's is amazing too ber Beyonce's is also awesome! Get both of these Cd's and when its released try Justin Future Sex/Love Sounds Album! Posted by: SaM at September 10, 2006 6:39 AM Sorry, but Bday sucks! There's only one good song and that's Irreplaceable. Posted by: Giselle at September 10, 2006 5:12 PM Beyonce's album is oki.. I only like: Deja Vu, Suga Mama, Green Light, Resentment & Irreplaceable. Christina's album is way better and much stronger... I like most of the songs (well 19 out of 22)) on 'Back To Basics'. Posted by: AMY at September 10, 2006 5:29 PM has anyone herd anything about a uk tour yet??? Posted by: charlotte at September 11, 2006 5:40 AM 5 YEARS TODAY, WTC, RIP + Posted by: Lilly at September 11, 2006 6:53 AM Yeaa... RIP to all those lost in the tragic 9/11 attacks. I can't believe it's been 5 years. Just an update on Christina's world tour. It's apparently going to begin in Europe, moving onto Asia, Australia and then US. It will begin around August 2007 and last for 4 months. It's going to be VERY theatrical and will have a clear jazz/vintage feel to it. I'm guessing it'll be called 'The Baby Jane Tour'... but who knows, Ms. Aguilera is full of suprises! Posted by: Eddy at September 11, 2006 6:57 AM I have OFFICIAL news on Christina Aguilera's 'Back To Basics' tour. I got the information from BILLBOARD, which is a reputable source. Christina will begin touring from mid-November 2006-Christmas time 2006 (in the UK). 'AEG' is promoting Christina & Justin's tour (however they ARE NOT touring together). A separate tour in the USA will begin in February 2007 and is still being routed. Will update as soon as I know more. Posted by: BABY JANE FAN at September 11, 2006 7:04 AM Christina has just been on Australian news update and she's coming to Aussie land in April 2007 to tour, so maybe she's doing UK, USA, Australia & Asia. I think she should start the tour in Summer 2007 (to give the album a chance to reach it's max. publicity). It's stupid starting a tour 3 months after releasing an album-she will suffer from ticket sales, as you can't expect everyone to buy thr album within 3 months. Posted by: Goley at September 11, 2006 7:07 AM 'BACK TO BASICS' WORLDWIDE SALES: LAST WEEK: 257,000 copies The album has only been available for 25 days! On average, Christina's album has sold 50,000 copies worldwide per day! Posted by: Going Back To Basics... at September 11, 2006 7:15 AM HAHAHA... I just had to laugh at what I just read. According to TMZ, Paris Hilton's debut album has so far sold 282,614 copies worldwide! I heard the album cost ALOT to make, so it's not good news for Warner or herself! Posted by: I H8 SKANKS at September 11, 2006 7:18 AM Paris Hilton has no problem paying up the fees. She's an heiress for God's sake. Posted by: Krazy at September 12, 2006 5:29 PM I personally love Christina Aguilera's new style. I think it's the best CD she has ever made because you can feel her soul and passion come out in her songs. It's very emotional and it really brings out her true self. I have always loved her and I am so glad that she continues to sing meaningful lyrics that are definitely worth listening to. She is the best female artist out there, hands down! Posted by: Laura at September 12, 2006 6:31 PM WTH! Christinas new album is rubbish! She cant sing at all and her songs are so meaningless - its just dreadful! Shes just trying to be like her much better rival - Britney! Britney rules! And BTW - B'Day is the best album of these few years! Its ten times better than B2B Posted by: Jo at September 13, 2006 11:15 AM Dear Jo...we dont need ur nice comments about Christina aguilera new album on this page...this is dedicated to just talk about the album....not why u suddenly decide to put christina's album down..plus if you wanna talk about Britney and Beyonce gracefullness go to a web site of them...not a Christina's...ok? Ahem....getting back to my point.... **Back to basics sales to date... Posted by: Xtina_fan at September 13, 2006 6:34 PM ugh....that Jo looks like she didn't even heard Back to Basics....she obviously wants to talk trash about Xtina.............Jo..whoever u are..u are really waisting ur own time..nobody is gonna praise you on this page. Posted by: ana_stripped at September 13, 2006 6:37 PM Did she make the video for Hurt yet? Posted by: Giselle at September 15, 2006 3:22 PM mm...by this time of September........im sure that her team is doing the final touches of the video...but nothing has been revealed yet. Posted by: koki_x2 at September 16, 2006 12:04 AM Yh its probably just another sad video of her upset and screaming like a bag of cats being swung against the wall! Err...Puh-Lease! You fans ought to get ova her! Beyonce rox! Posted by: jo at September 16, 2006 7:40 AM GI Jo, just take a look at Ring the Alarm. Who's screamin? Posted by: Giselle at September 16, 2006 7:56 PM Or deja vu (where she starts to"dance" in the sand)...........she sounds like a female gorila beign choked!!! Posted by: Jackie at September 17, 2006 1:53 AM Yes Christina is one of the best singers out right now, but I do agree with the people who say she never learns how to control her voice. On all of her performances she's always wants to oversing the sung, by randomly singing high notes, or singing the same note like 80 times. She just needs to calm down a bit, just sing the song and then at the end, she can sing the high notes. Posted by: nina b. at September 18, 2006 2:55 PM I love Christina's album. She is, by far the best singer of our generation (I'm 21 yrs). Her voice is beyond amazing! The album is beautiful. I love Hurt and Candyman, but I really hope she releases Understand as a single; that's one of my favorites. I'm glad the album is doing well. I really thought she got cheated with Stripped. It was a phenomenal album as well. But I think her new uber-sexy image turned people off and that sucks because that album had some great songs and messages. But she really sold well overseas. They know what music is over there! I read somewhere that her album (B2B I mean) is number one in almost a dozen countries! I'm glad she's back. There are so many crapass "singers" out there right now. They are track-artists. They get their fame from catchy songs but they really can't carry a tune (Rihanna and Cassie just to name a few). But Christina is the real deal. I can't wait for her next tour to hit the US. I'm definitely going! I got Stripped: Live in the UK on DVD and her concert was great! I wonder if she and Justin will tour together again? That would be awesome! I love Beyonce but her first solo tour was boring. There wasn't much substance to it. I haven't bought B'Day yet, mainly because I get so many mixed reviews from people. A lot say they like it, but just as many say it sucks. My sister bought it though, so I'll just make a copy. And Justin? Whoo! My album is on its way here now! It's been back ordered from Best Buy since its release! I love him too! This has been an awesome year for music; lots of big names. Posted by: Arica at September 21, 2006 1:17 AM fkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk christina, Posted by: stone face at September 24, 2006 12:27 PM To all christina fans go to mtve.com and vote for christina at the 2006 mtv europe awards. she is nominated for 3 categories. Best album, pop and female. Posted by: crizzy at September 26, 2006 6:40 AM Well I hate to see this site has become a dissin' site for various artists. Christina is an amazing vocalist/singer with the talent to sing a variety of genres. But do we need to take away from her, or Beyonce or Britney? From where I sit, they have have talent, some more than other, some talents are just different. Baby Jane is my favorite, but it's all good......can't we all just get along? Posted by: Nancy at September 27, 2006 5:05 PM YAY! I just bought 2 tickets to see the European 'Back To Basics Tour' in Birmingham! I'm sooo excited. I've got quite close but tickets are selling fast! Many dates before mine (From Start-25th)are selling out and your lucky if you can get bottom tier! So all you brit fans like me go buy tickets! It will be a fantastic show. At least we know she will sing live! I saw a britney tour on TV and it dissapointed me as she only sang live on 1 song and halfway through the tracks came in and it was lip-synced! Anyway, cant wait! Posted by: Sam at September 28, 2006 5:06 AM Does anyone know who Christina's support artist is going to be on her Back to Basics tour? Im going to Wembley and really want to find out!? Posted by: Giselle at October 20, 2006 11:05 PM Hey ! Posted by: jessica_sweden at October 22, 2006 8:00 AM Well first and foremost F**k all the haters who posted those nut-a** comments. That album is the best album released this year. Not to mention she can REALLLY SANNNNNNNNG!! 'Understand" one of the best songs ever recorded,Those amazing vocals on "Aint no Other", can't forget about that power house intro, and one of my favs " Be without you". Whoever think she ain't what it is, is off their fu***ng rocker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted by: Na'kiya at October 25, 2006 3:21 PM I'm an old guy. Never mind how old. Suffice that I had a rocknroll club in England in the '60s. I have followed Xtina's career with growing admiration. She has always had an amazing voice, and now she is gradually learning how to use it. I reckon Xtina has a few more albums to go before she finally finds herself and reaches her full potential ... but it will be worth the wait. She certainly has the talent to be up there with the likes of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Edith Piaf ... one of the true legends. She's already in a league of her own among today's pop divas, and one thing's for sure ... Xtina's recordings will be prized long after the only place you'll find Britney and Beyonce albums is in some dusty box of chuck-outs at a garage sale. Posted by: chris at November 4, 2006 12:07 AM christina aguilera is clearly the most talented vocalist out there today so don't hate. she is absolutely incredible and her voice is so powerful. Posted by: elaina at November 6, 2006 4:37 PM Lets all stop posting comments about other singers altogether! Christina Aguilera is one of the most gifted, talented and inspirational female artists...ever. In my opinion that is! Im going to see her Back to Basics Show in Birmingham on sunday night with some friends and I'm more than excited! Im positive that Christina will put on a show for sure. Is anyone else going to the same show?
