May 19, 2006Nas "Hip-Hop Is Dead” AlbumDuring his surprise performance at The Roots' Radio Ctiy show, Nas announced he'll have a new album ready in September entitled "Hip-Hop Is Dead." It'll be Nas' first album since Jay-Z gave him a new home at Def Jam.. and a lot is riding on the success of this album for both of them: Recent Def Jam signee Nas will deliver his first album for the label in late September. The rapper made the announcement last night (May 18) while performing on the first leg of labelmates the Roots’ two-night stand at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. The album is titled "Hip-Hop Is Dead,” according to a Def Jam representative, who also confirmed the September release. via Nah Right who also noted Nas' iffy previous choice: The hip-hop provocateur tells us he’s planning on calling the CD simply "N-." Except, he’ll be filling in the blank. Posted by jsmooth995 at May 19, 2006 3:01 PM CommentsYou go Nas. I feel a lot of people slept on it. I really aint like streets disciple. Dude got too eccentric with his craft. But, on the whole, Nas is one of my most favorite rappers. He was reared by the same music I grew up listening...like all other kids listening to rap music in NYC circa. 1978 - today. I am so fucking glad Eminem aint producin shit on this album. Keep the wack people away!!!!! I feel hip hop is dead is gonna kill the world...that joint pumpin rite now, where the gangsta's where the dimes at.....is the fucking bomb!!! Back then i was into death row,ice cube scarface, suave house, etc. I didn't start listening to nas until his beef with jay-z, I listen to stillmatic out of being curious. When i heard it i felt like a complete dumb ass for not catching on to nas earlier.I eventually rushed back and heard everything i missed from him. He is a true genius with the exception of (street's disciple, the firm, and bravehearts)he has made great classics and i'm sure hip hop is dead will be one of his finest. Posted by: FUCK NAS at November 10, 2006 11:43 PM NAS IS THE TRUTH AND HIP HOP IS DEAD. HE WILL BRING IT BACK TO LIFE THOUGH. Posted by: Slimgoody at November 11, 2006 5:27 PM have any of you heard that new shit by nitro the english MC sickest rapper in the world Posted by: john at November 14, 2006 8:02 AM Im still thinking Nas has got something up his sleeve. Hes using all these mainstream producers and some mainstream rappers and signing with Jay-Z with an album called "HIP-HOP IS DEAD". Somehow to me it doesn't fit??? Even though Nas in the past has done some weak stuff on albums... and trying to broaden his fanbase. I mean this is just a thought.. U.B.R and RJD2 also could hinting of this aswell... as he could give us an hinting opinion on what he thinks Hip Hop should be in this album. If he does this it will diffently be a shock, to Hip-Hop as a whole. I had second doubts on posting this, as Nas could read it and get ideas, which might be a good thing to some. But what would he be doing listening to a insignificant punk like me, but then again he might be already doing this.... Posted by: KatDukTry at November 14, 2006 6:27 PM nas aint got any thing to do wit hova whoz da best of all times.nas lyrics are good for da bin.he should go continue begging for a mic til he hasone b4 standing beside HOVA.he needs a mic hhahahahahahahahahahaha Posted by: slam at November 20, 2006 12:01 PM The Nas were used to know is BACK Posted by: Blaq Jew at November 28, 2006 9:30 AM It aint no way in hell Jay-Z can rank over Tupac/Makaveli, Sorry, all hands down. Ill give Nas the glory before Jay-Z no disrespect. My opinion Posted by: Ballerb601 at December 1, 2006 6:59 PM I am a black male 20yrs old. I agree with everyone when they say rap is dead. But I also agree when everyone say rap is not dead, reason being is I think that most of todays rap is purchased by kids wanting to be a thug and misguided young people not knowing what real rap is. Artists do what sells,if it sold for one person then the next artist does da same thing destroying originality, that being the garbage you hear today. But rap is also still alive because you have positive a great rappers out here with substance and great potential, but they never get heard from the underground level because of all the garbage that really sells.
