first of all, when it all comes down to it, rap is a matter of opinion. Everyone has their ideal about who the best and the worst rapper is. I come from a generation where being original or being a lyricist was everything but now most rappers seem to be on some bad wagon shit. It all depends on what type of rap you're into whether it's crunk,snap,underground, gangsta or whatever.Rap nowadays pretty much sticks to there own side of there map where back in the day it didn't matter where you were from as long as you can rap so if you like one style of rap you more than likely don't like another. Take a step back. Forget image. Forget what people tell you is best to listen to. Don't worry, you don't have to do it for long. Music is about melodies and words that move you. Hip hop was born out of a fusion of various genres and is and will always be changing. Each one of us has snapped their fingers to a meaningless song that has a catchy rhythm and hook. We are all moved by deep and clever lyrical content (for those who actually listen and comprehend the lyrics). To focus on this 'newcomer', Lupe undoubtedly has lyrical content and the fact that he has chosen to follow the Kanye West path instead of the Lil John path is a personal decision that will no doubt polarize him. It does not take away his obvious talent. The fact that there are artists that continue to challenge the boundaries is something that not everyone will like but you will have to get used to.
