National Sleep Awareness Week Coincides With the Start of Daylight Savings Time

One of the most interesting new holidays people don't know about? National Sleep Awareness Week, designed to help inform Americans about sleep and how important it is to health. It is a weekklong sleep-aid event that coincides with daylight savings time.

The significance? Because of daylight savings time this March, when Americans will "spring forward," jumping clocks forward one hour, many Americans will lose an hour of sleep. The first event of 'Sleep Week' is the National Sleep Foundation Annual Awards Dinner, which announces awards to recognize scientists who made great contributions to the science of studying sleep. The week also aims to encourage other more natural cures for sleep problems, in addition to over the counter sleep aid medicines, and prescritiion sleeping pills or other herbvl and alternative medicine aids.
