The site of the Oscar winning film starring Jack Nicholson made the Oregon mental hospital famous, But in real life the institution was closed after years of disrepair and reports of abuse. But now a new mental health facility will be opening up in the same location, hoping to make a better impression than the hospital we all saw in the movie.

Oregon's state mental hospital was the filming site for the fictitious 1975 Hollywood movie "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." But it's also a place where real abuses have been revealed over the years. State officials hope they've now begun a new chapter for the hospital. Today they unveiled part of a new hospital that will replace most of the decrepit building made famous in the movie. Patients will begin moving in early next year, about six weeks later than planned. The old crumbling hospital had toxic paint, asbestos and a leaky roof. Forty percent of it was unusable.
